| Comments: | I want to honor my Fallen Firefighter Husband, Sidney Hall. His last call was January 5, 2007. He was the first in the house that was on fire. It was so filled with smoke no one saw the hole in the floor and he fell into the basement. He was wearing an airpack but the oxygen ran out. Being a firefighter was his heart's calling. It has been three years but myself and our son's miss him dearly and wish he was here with us.
Also, our youngest son Matt is now a volunteer firefighter who also has a heart's calling to do this. Thank you for being here to make sure we never forget everyone who has given their lives for others. |

| Comments: | Hello, I am the daughter of a fallen firefighter. My dear Dad was the firechief of the volunteer fire dept in our small town in Tennessee when a tragic accident took his life in 2004. The walls of a church fire collapsed on him as well as my brother , who is a lieutenant on the same fire dept. My brother escaped with a few broken bones but Dad was only able to hold on to life for a couple months. My son is now 18 and could not wait to become a firefighter . He made it official on his 18th birthday. I am a single Mom and my parents played a huge roll in my son's lift growing up. My son followed my Dad to every fire and every fire meeting he could growing up and I feel it is his destiny to be a firefighter. He is already one of the top firemen on the dept, and I owe this to my Dad for all the safety tips and training he drilled into my son's head since he was very very little , even with the toy firetrucks. This is a great foundation you have started and I would love to know more about it as it develops.

This Foundation has an impressive Board of Directors and I'm sure that it will thrive, even though none of us ever want to see another line of duty death. Coincidentally, I remember Billy Goldfeder from what seems like centuries ago (The early '80s) when I worked for the Manhasset - Lakeville Fire District on Long Island. I'm one of many who is on Billy's "The Secret List" and am grateful for his hard work on it. Many of my training topics are gleaned from there and Firefighterclosecalls.com. As I always tell people, if there is one thing I'd like to be remembered for, it is that all of my crews went home safe and enjoyed their retirements. |

His name is Conrad Mansfield, and we are proud to lay our hero to rest in a full firefighter's ceremony on June 19th, 2009. the service will be held at the firehouse, his home away from home. We couldn't think of a more appropriate place to say goodbye to a man who lived and breathed the firefighter lifestyle. |
