| Comments: | It is great to see so many local bluegrass scenes represented by journals and websites. I'm not familiar with the grass roots scene in the Shenandoah Valley, but I am acquainted with the rich tradition of the genre in the region.
My name is Wayne. I work for CBC Radio as Media Librarian and an Associate Producer. I'm currently taking a break from CBC to volunteer my time with WAMU Bluegrass Country in Washington, DC. I've made a pilgrimage here from Toronto, Ontario based on WAMU's stellar reptuation as a 40 year veteran broadcaster of bluegrass on the radio. Now that I'm here, I can't believe how unknown this station is. It seems to me like bluegrasscountry.org is incredibly well placed to become a kind of national hub for regional bluegrass all over the country. What with a small staff and a strong focus on producing special progams like live concerts and feature length interviews with national and regional artists, nobody seems to have time to do the outreach thing. Alas, while I'm here, I wanted to say a few nice things here there and everywhere to get the word out. Call it spam if you like, but really, there's a lot of great bluegrass fans here producing mind blowing bluegrass radio that's not reaching as many fans of the music as it should.
