| Comments: | Fantastic website and gorgeous photos. I have had 3 Chow Chow's in my life over the last 21 years - Chad was put to rest back in 1999 after a life long battle with rhuematoid arthritis - he was just short of 11 years old. In 1999 we purchased Conner - who is still with us today - he is 10 years old and is my boss and who is also currently sleeping at my feet snoring his head off. Then in 2000 we brought home our beautiful black girl (Coco) unfortunately she was put to rest in January with once again a life long battle of problems and was drug dependant all her life for pain management for hip dysplasia, luxating patella's, over extension in the hock joints and then last year succumbed to athritis of the spine. We tried our best but the pain got too much for our dear little girl and she was put to rest at just 9 years of age.
Once a chow chow owner - and forever will be now - they are just the most beautiful and affectionate breed and i just LOVE being bossed around by them. I also have 2 children and Conner and Coco adapted well when the kids came into our lives - they have just been the most amazing chowdren!!!! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous photos. | Comments: | I love Japanese Shibas & Chow Chows for that matter. Every year I admire your animals at the Perth Royal Show but now I have finally decided that these are the breeds I truly admire. I have had dogs all of my life I am 40 now my Keeshond that I lost 5 years ago is the closest to this breed that I have owned. My husband and I currently have a female Staffy she is so lovely, loves the world loves everybody but she is getting on in years and as my Keeshond got older we brought her into our lives & I am sure a puppy is what makes our older dogs live longer. This is Suzanne...the Quarantine chick who use to work out at Byford and was showing Tibetans before leaving for Europe and Africa. Just wanted to say "Hi" and let you know I'm back in Perth and back at Byford! The abandoned babies in Africa were soooo cute... I would have stayed but I ran out of cash. Your Chows are looking as gorgeous as ever. I might have to seek you out when I settle down and buy a new place...I've always wanted admired the breed. I still remember walking into your house that time I visited and seeing 20 fluffy bear faces staring at me down the hallway (and being so glad that Colin was standing next to me!!). Your Chowdren are simply beautiful, having grown up with chows(5) and successfully seeing one of our own family dogs have two litters, (1st attempt taking almost 2 years to get in pup, with the 2nd litter on the first go!). With 6 pups in the first litter (3 black & 3 red) and 3 in 2nd litter (1 black& 2 red) of which we kept one male from the first litter. My parents now have two red chows 1 male "Pancho" & 1 female "Mia" which are their children (as all chows are to their owners!). I am currently looking for my very own. I am in Victoria and have been looking for chow breeders (which are on decline) if you have any recommendations I would be most grateful. Many Thanks Daniel Schultz |

I will be sending you pictures of "Sherae Natsu Shinju" in a little bit. She is such an enjoyable companion. I swear that she does understand me whenever I talk to her. We have been attending obedience classres with Wendy Mah Monday nights. I find that she likes to play with the larger dogs but when they get rough, she will stay by me. She is such a character--some days she runs around the house like a Tasmanian Devil. I call her Sasha but my daughter tells me that I should have called her Tazzy Devil. A lot of people tell me that she is such a beautiful dog with a sweet face. Thank you so much for sending her to me. She loves to play with my granddaughters and grandson. Since my husband passed away, she has filled that empty void in my life. |

I believe my Dad bought a couple of pups off you several years ago and we are now interested in one for ourselves ( I am married with a 5 yo daughter). | Comments: | Saw Shiba Inus on a TV show & thought they look exactly what we want in our next dog. We have had 2 Norwegian Elkhounds & our beautiful Vika turns 13 later this year. We are in our 60s and think a smaller dog might suit us better at this atage of our lives. Being Spitz breeds they sound similar in character & traits (even looks) Our new girl would be a treasured family member just as our other 2 girls have been. I have been researching Shibas on the net & thought I wouls see if there was a breeder in WA (We're in Mullaloo) She wouldn't be a show dog just our beautiful girl to whom we would be devoted. We're retired so have time to look after her properly & would always have company. We wouldn't want a puppy yet as Vika as always been an only dog.

I got her when she was three(3)yrs. old and she wont stay with no one but me. My son has not been able to get her to come to him yet. She wil only let him take her outside if i"m there. She is house trained and eats very well. There is something i do want o ask. Do chow dogs get ear infections all the time. Lucky has had it twice. Her ears are cropped, does that have something to do with her getting it allthe time thank you |

Lucky has had ear infections 3 times since I've had her. Is this usually for a Chow. She only weights 38 pounds and she wont stay with anyone else. She has never taken to my son . he has a very deep voice and she always barks at him. When i take her walking, everyone stop and ask me is she a show dog. because of her prance. is Lucky too old to learn things. Thanks for all you advice |
