Comments:I was born in upstate New York in 1968. By 1980 my family had relocated to the eastern plains area of Denver, Colorado. My infatuation with the plains indians grew from the moment i transplanted to Colorado. I began to self educate myself on all the local tribes and before long many of the plains indian tribes as well. I read every book i could get my hands on, some i even read 2 or 3 times.
As i read the article written here, i began to realize, how, once again, that most of the literature regarding the indian wars is all one sided. There are a few books that give a reader a little clearer picture of this time period. 3 that i recommend (if you can still find a couple of these titles) are:
My life on the plains - written by General George Armstrong Custer. <this book is unique as it is a biography written from journals all the way up until the day before the battle of the little big horn.

Sitting Bull, the Biography - this tells the other side of the story from a totally different perspective, this is an excellent book.

and everyone knows Dee Brown's _ Bury my Heart at wounded knee.

My dad and i used to hunt out on the plains and fish the mountain streams of Colorado, and i used to get lost in thought at the beauty of the rolling plains and the vasteness of the scenery. And i always said to myself, why did the white man do this to the natives, it's the late 20th century, and all of this land is still here and still free and still beautiful, this land doesn't belong to us. I always felt i was on sacred ground out on the plains.

I have much more to say, but don't really know where to start.

Comments:Your treatise on "Why Custer Lost at the Little Big Horn" is not only inaccurate and misrepresented, it's also biased and one-sided. Before you accuse me of being some Custer apologist, I should make mention that I have 3/4 Wyandot blood running through my veins. That being said, my historical heroes include great warriors such as: Tecumseh, Black Hawk, Chief Blue Jacket, Geronimo, General George Patton, Daniel Boone, as well as George Armstrong Custer.

George Custer was a soldier; he was a warrior just like Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull. I give them all due respect because they served and died for their country.

Before you slander a dead American soldier on your website, I suggest you do a little research on the man before you post your opinions.

And if you must be critical of some white man from the 19th century, I suggest you dedicate a page of hate to that no-account, low-minded butcher named John Chivington.

I am an automatic drawer and I had a beautiful drawing take me on a very powerful journey. I feel the symbolism on the drawing I did of a pregnant native woman is very important and I cannot find this information anywhere. All of the other symbols in the drawing I have figured out. I am not native however I know in a recent life I was and it is my spiritual connection in this life also. Thank you, great job!

But it did exist! My grandmother was Lakota/Apache/Cherokee. You would think I would've recognized it! The brainwashing worked as I didn't.
Anyway, we need to know where we come from and your web page has given me insight and understanding. Thank you

There is such a great history of the people and traditions .Unless a child lives in an area where there is an indian population or they have the chance to know someone of indian decent , they would never know any of the things you are showing.I got on this sight looking for a name for a wolf dog who wandered onto a mans property during a snow storm about a month ago. I have always admired Everything Native American, while fully believing that Europeans finding this continent was a horrible travesty that brought far more misery than was ever their right to inflict on anyone.

As a person of European decent who admits that the wrongs of the past can not be undone, please tell me where and whom I can write to in order to urge the US and State Governments to better honor all treaties with your nations; as well as to give you proper aid should it be needed, without costing your people any more than you have already lost? If you think my voice can help you at all, ask and I will gladly raise it on your people's behalf.

Sincerely Yours,

I have since been open to the knowledge the Lakota people have to share and listen for the words and writings of the teachers.

Also have been working with dreaming. Reading books by Robert Moss - Dreamways of the Iroquois, The Lakota Way by Joseph Marshall, and Animal Speak by Ted Andrews.

I was very excited to find your web page with so many beautiful writings and pics. I was glad to see your dedication to passing on authentic stories and history so we can all have the opportunity to learn of the ways of people who have much to teach us.

Blessings to you at Christmas time.

Comments:I have taken the tour of all the graphic pages and the language page. I wish to thank you for a "waste" job. I too have lived my life as a peron supposedly of Germen descent yet I have the love of the native Americans flowig thru my heart. My native name is Cheno Nu-thu-nu-nun-kayu, which means Sirit Wolf in the Yokut language. Again,
Pilaymaya for the wonderful site and the many hours you have given it. Wakan Takan kici un
