I had been looking for ideas for a memorial plate for my truck when I happened upon your site. He was part Blackfoot and we are part Sioux. My mother and I have tried hard to keep some traditions alive that he taught to my grandmother, but I have found that there is still a lot that I don't know. Your website is helping me with this process, and I hope to be able to instill these traditions in my children and grandchildren. Her maiden name (English) was Elizabeth and she married Robert Jackson Sauls. They had several childrem. My grandfather, an indentured servant, moved to Forney, Texas in the early 1900's at the age of 21. I feel a strong bond with Native Americans, but want nothing material, just to know where I came from and ask to be recognized as a brother. |
