| Comments: | Hi Virginia I ran across your site in the process of looking for Mortons in Charlotte County, VA. My dad's father's mother was a Morton from what I was told. She was still alive in Phoenix when I was young. She was married to Joseph Olney Jennings (Twin) 10/1868-1945 Roanoke township. He was the son of John J Jennings b.1832 or 35 married to Margaret Elizabeth born about 6 or 7 yrs after him. (he was a blacksmith in 1870 & 1880 census for Charlotte) Joseph Olney's wife's name to the best of my knowledge was Mary Elizabeth or Elizabeth Mary Morton. They were my great grandparents from their son John Willie or Willie John Jennings b.05/1896-03/1970 to my dad David Olney Jennings 01/25-09/91 to me born 03/58. By the census in 1910 and 1930 my g grandmother should have been born in 1876 and they married in about 1893. My grandfather John Willie was their 2nd child and 1st son. She lived until at least about 1967 or 1968 in Phoenix w/ my Aunt Dolly Florence Hamlett married to Charlie Hamlett. Dolly Florence was one of her younger daughters. I have done well in finding out info about the Jennings family and some for the Hamletts as they married many of my granddaddy John Willie's siblings. However I can't find anything on Mary Elizabeth Morton my g grandmother at all prior to her marriage to Joseph Olney Jennings. If you have any info or if you could direct to someone who does I would be forever thankful. You have a great website yourself and it is really beautiful. Oh I am in El Paso/Ft Bliss TX so it is very difficult to get info anywhere except on line. So many thanks for any help you might have and thanks for having your site available. :) Elizabeth Ann |

| Comments: | My brother Pleas told me about your site and it seems very possible that if not desendents of the Morton's of your family tree, our families are intertwined by history. The most interesting aspect of our site to me was the will of Patty Morton. The land of which she speaks of and the slaves that she mentions could have very well have been from which my family comes from. Va. about three years ago and are attempting to restore it,a labor of love for sure! The Watkins Family here in Charlotte Court House has been most gracious and kind to us. | Comments: | Huguenot´s and my family name martiny what does that have in comon i know for fact the Huguenot´s were deported out of france durin 1700. i was born in denmark 1973. i rang up another martiny cpl weeks ago distant relative and asked how we were related.. and i also asked why the name martinysince all i know is danish since way back .. then the lady i spoked with said that she was the wife of my granpas borther or something or cousine i really don´t remember at his point ... but she said that we were noblemen and we got stripped of our titles and estates.. hmm ...dont know what to say any more about it.. |

I found this about Melchizdeck Richardson which may help those researching the Richardson, Branch, Curd families. ========================================================== Uncertain this is correct. Found in verious sources. but no concrete proof. rwwjr I did find this in Louise Pledge Heath Foley's book of Early Virginia Families Along the James River. Henrico County patent Books. In Patent Book No. 7 >> "John Pleasants & Jno Haddelisey, 548 A. . . N side of James River., 1 Oct. 1679, p. 12. On the main brook of 4 mile Cr. adj. Capt Matthews, &c Transportation of 11 persons: Melch Richardson . . ." =========================================================== My great grandmother and her parents--John Jackson and Susanna Skaggs Richardson are buried in Union church of Christ cemetery, near Centralia, Boone County, Missouri. Martha Margaret Richardson Wheeler died 16 January 1882. |

Was the Eva Gardiner who married Marshall Morton on April 15 1916 an Australian? My Great-Grandmother's sister left Australia for America in the early 1900's and was never heard of again.
