I find it mildly offensive that people (in the excerpts section) claiming to be professionals would label people with simian lines to be "obstinate, narrow-minded," etc. I have a simian line on each hand, and while I like to reason my way through things and have interesting views on life, I also am terrible at making decisions. I waver between two options like it's a matter of life and death sometimes. Also, I try to see all sides of an issue. That said, I realize that me posting this shows to some degree, stubbornness, but it is also unfair to label people. Labeling can take away a person's freedom to an extent through self-fulfilling prophecy (which can be good or bad). Obviously, the fact that I am browsing this website shows that I care to a certain extent what the Simian Line means, but I would also advise anyone reading this to take everything said about it with a grain of salt. Most of these studies (or rather all) merely show correlation, not causation, which means that nothing is final. Also, if anyone cares, here's an outline of my personality, since apparently having a simian line on each hand is rare and means something: I am a driven individual who aspires to do something truly meaningful in life. So far, I have been relatively successful by everyday terms, although I am not satisfied with what I have accomplished so far. Then again, who is, especially at my age (I'm a teen)? Like I said, I aspire towards something; however I am not sure what. I am described by friends as over-analytical,and I probably am. This is most likely the cause of my indecisiveness. I often contemplate topics such as the meaning of life, the universe, etc, and I do have some difficulty connecting with people because some of my peers' topics just seem trite. If I find common ground or force myself to try, I can be very sociable. I am (and this has been tested) of above average intellect, but am no genius. However, as I observed before, there is no proof that these characteristics do not show up as much, if not more, in people without simian lines. Everyone shows these common characteristics at some point, and everyone can make themselves fit the mold of these characteristics. Despite my observations/criticisms/whatever, I am appreciative of your effort to put all of this together. It's a well-done website, and you cite your sources well and leave room for the visitors' own thoughts, i.e. you don't force an opinion on them. Few websites do this, and I can only imagine the amount of work that went into this. (now if I could put this much thought into my homework)

Anything to declare?	Hi. I was searching for Crainostenosis info to share on my facebook. I wanted to inform more people about my daughter who had surgeries on her head from Crainostenosis. Its been 2 years ago today that she had her surgery from ear to ear, a cranial vault. And once I read and looked at pictures of you before the your surgery I thought to my self, Magdalena looked just like that and I kept reading about this on your site. My daughter looked exactly like you did before her surgeries. Her eye reminded me of a "stink eye" so I would always say Mags, you givin me the stink eye.....and this was to mentally relieve some of the pain going on inside me knowing my baby girl had to get her head fixed. She had unilater coronal crainostenosis. We caught it early in 2008 had to surgeries all together on her head. One to tighten an eye muscle because the eye bulged from her forhead being mishapen. November 19 2009 she had the crainial vault to fix her forhead and eye socket. Thanks for sharing your story. I hope you can read this and know I kinda rambled but e-mail me some time.

I go up, I go down, Im back up, Im waaaay down, drunk and crying and wishing I wasnt so sad all the time. its hard to forgive myself. I am a person who has piled high, terrible and ridiculous stunts, hurting only myself. Always hurting myself. I cant forgive myself for anything, and all the while, my insides continue to weaken. I feel useless and alone. Its truly disheartening to think that my family, with as much shit as I have put them through, honestly still love me. Im too well aware that they consider me an addict and treat me (now 34) as a child. But that is my own fault. As is everything else. I dont fit. I dont know what I am, who I am, what Im supposed to be doing. I feel heavy and slow and the uncertainty Ive known since I was 14, is a skin. I used to think, a light burned inside of me, somewhere deep beneath, that there was something I was 'supposed' to be doing, that there was some 'duty' I was supposed to carry out, to help someone else..but thats been gone for years now. Im more of a slug now. Considerations of death fill my head often.

The sad part is my daughter who is 8 years old, also has the same condition and I could only find out about this only when she was 4 years old because of the odd shape of her head. I know how much this deformity can affect your everyday life. I have always wondered why I was so different from others. I dont want my daughter to undergo what I went through my childhood, my teenage years. Can you tell me if repeated surgeries has had bad effects on you. Do you know anybody who have undergone this surgery very late. Since I am from India, people here are not much aware of this condition and I dont know anybody here who has undergone this surgery here.

You seem like a very strong person and you have a great looking family! I am doing research about the deinstitutionalization of the mental health system in America. What a brutal legacy we left behind, and what did we give them? Prison. I do a tremendous amount of research on America's broken prison system, I conclude that isolation flatly does NOT work, it only makes sick people worse and angry people more aggressive. People locked in isolation start to act like a dog that is chained up, he gets aggressive because he can't run free and he has no contact with other dogs. So, what do we do? The mega-institutions are abandoned, the prisons are over flowing, hard core criminals roam the streets, and the mentally handicapped are forced into "residential" treatment houses or left homeless. Just think of what it would be like to be born with an IQ below 70, you could hardly groom yourself or eat properly. Then your parents abandon you in an institution, shoved out of humanity like a discarded broken thing. People need humanity, compassion, love, and understanding. The majority of people are afraid of those of us with a mental health problem, that's sort of funny considering more than half the country suffers from clinical depression and or BIpolor. Anything to declare?	Hi Jennifer. Craniosynostosis has effected me my whole life. My surgery was way back in 1964 when I was 18 months old. I too have a scare ear to ear with a slightly longer head than most. I feel lucky I made it through the surgery back then. Today, I have a wonderful wife and a three year old healthy boy. Growing up was hard with the way kids can be mean to you and today I still feel self conscious about it. You would think at age 47 I would be use to it. I have never met anyone else like me. But as you get older, priorities change. I just feel blessed I have a beautiful health boy and a wonderful wife. Just glad I found your site

Anything to declare?	After a violent episode in August 2005, I totally lost my ability to shut down. 24/7 for 10 months. I am talking about permanent wakefulness not just insomnia. Drugs helped but only intermittently. Today I take seroquel sometimes with zanax and it helps. Even now I cannot doze for one minute. My condition is clinically called PTSD. I call it permanently wakeful. It is obviously very hard on my body and brain but emotionally it is even harder emotionally to loose in this way. The nose is directly connected to the limbic system. So I know something, right? In the afternoon, february 2008, I inhaled lavender esssential oil plus I either drank a little wine or I had .5mg of xanax with the oil and I slept for about 2 hours. What woke me up was my dog's barking. This experience gave me a lot of hope. But when I tried to repeat it, it never happened again. Any knosledge you can share?

I have discovered that i am American-Melungeon....i too suffer from the same headaches that you've spoken of....after 400+ hospitalizations and mulitple surgeries, physicians still had no clue what was wrong with me....some said i had Leukemia, MM, and then Fibro-fucking-myalgia, and then dismissed me by claiming i had Narcissistic personality disorder...i was misdiagnosed at many of the highly respected hospitals in the country, including Mayo Clinic, University of Florida, Tripler Army Medical Center, Emory University, and so on.....thanks to the internet, and a 70yr old dental assistant, after i was sent home to die in spring of 2009, i discovered that i have ALL the physical characteristics and genetic markers of the Melungeon People (Talon cusps on my eye/fang teeth, hyperflex joints, asian shovel teeth, long thin limbs and fingers....)i have discovered that all of my pain and headaches and crippling attacks are related to Familial Mediterranean Fever and Behcet's...both are diseases common to the Melungeons. I am now on .6mg of colchicine, twice a day, and i am in TOTAL remission! Physically, I look remarkably similar to you, and i think you have every reason to look into it....because i know from experience, that even the doctors at Mayo Clinic would miss it, even if you brought them a map and a compass. It was the quote by Rudyard Kipling that I have always loved, "Smells are surer than sounds or sight to make your heart-strings crack." In a search for it, your site came up. This quote resonates with me because I have almost an overly sensitive sense of smell, with which oddball scents provoke some of the oddest, deepest memories for me. A bit of synesthesia as well. I know 2 people without a sense of smell and conversations are always interesting. I feel they are especially unique and maybe make up for this with other heightened senses or intuitiveness. Recently, I have noticed in my son's artwork a powerful childlike talent. I researched it a bit and found that artists, many , including Picasso, emphasized the importance of childern. I want to start a non-profit organization to promote art of the handicapped, and was interested in the simian lines. Anything to declare?	Hi, I am also a gemimi and a double simian person. My lines are not the one line across the palm thoough. They are a merging of head and heart but, my life lines remain entirely seperate as my head line and life are never joined on neither hand. I have studied palmistry much of my life, and never felt I could accurrately place my lines. Often people are interested in me (i am a musician) and one such person was a well respected palmist psychic who exclaimed that I was a artistic genius. Another one who'd never heard play nor knew my occupation, said similar. I relate to your thoughts much although have no cutting desires. I have always deeply desired automity above all else. Yet forced myself to intergrate as a baby. And have continued to try to stay reasonably merged as I somehow feel it was to be my personal growth achievement this lifetime. I've been watching this simian line on my hand for a long time and found 2 friends here that have it. It was a big change when I discovered the simian line in a palmistry book (with the subtitle of that chapter reading "A Law of Their Own".) Along with the astrological info I knew, I became a lot more conscious about how complicated my life had been for reasons that may have (felt like) were out of my control. Salutations! I think I learned early on how to function socially, but there are plenty of times I can think of where I just did not get the emotional content of life.

Anything to declare?	Yes, Shocked someone else know how I feel. I discoved it in the hospital, as the cleaning lady appoligized for the strong chemicals. I said, "What chemicals" she ran and told the nursing staff, that girl can't smell anything. Late, it became a nightmare when others can smell you, and think you don't care. I obsessed with hygiene, very self conscious, withdrawn sometimes, not easy to get close to make friends with. The biggest fear I have is my food was on fire, and I could not smell the smoke and the house was full of smoke. I got up and put out the fire, let out the smoke and sat wondering how not to let this happen again. SOMEBODY OUT THERE HELP! I have already inhaled 4% carbon monoxide in my place. Went to the DR for something else, she called 911. I was taken to the hospital and did the blood gas test. Yes, I had 4% co in my blood. Now looking for somewhere,someway to move out of here to a safer place. It there one? HELP fellow nosians

Anything to declare?	Oddly, I found your site after browsing a DVD site that had listed a movie called "The Simian Line". I read the story line and it mentioned something about the "line that connects heart/head running horizontally across the palm of a hand." So I ordered the movie and than proceeded to do web searches on simian line, simian crease... and happened upon your site. I am in my 40s and have wondered all my life what the lines meant. Yes, I am a double simian line person. I am a self-employed IT Consultant, part time writer and graphics artist. I feel sometimes like I can be in many places at once. My interests are varied and I wouldn't consider myself to have any medical issues (except love handles) and I do not have down syndrome. I am very passionate about things in general but you wouldn't be able to tell that if you meet me in person. I look like a geek or a regular person, but I don't feel that way. Odd huh? I identify with many of the emotional issues that are presented in your assessment of "simians" and felt that it was mostly the sagittarian in me that was the explanation for the way I felt. Part mystic and part logic is a good way to describe how I solve my problems. Its good to see that someone has taken the time to explain some of the mystery and I salute you for the effort.
