My sincere condolences. I do have the Breyer model of Sir Wrangler and happy to say I have one of his grand-babies. Her name is Wrangler's Majorette out of Wrangler's Reyzer and A Major Leaguer. She's an awesome mare, 8 years young and still wants to be in my back pocket like she's been since the day she was born. Sir Wrangler's legacy will live forever!

Comments:Jan,
Just thought you'd like to know how Be is doing? She has had 2 fillies since 2003. Her first is by Lad's Strawman. Lady is currently training to show in trail, western riding and we are going to try her on cows. She has great dressage talent but is not very tall. 2nd filly was born 3/23/06 by The Hunter. Real nice filly with a wonderful disposition.
Took Be to Eugene, OR in November to compete in the Mountain Trail Challenge. Be was awesome. She was Reserve Champion in the 50+ class and 3rd in the Battle of the Breeds class. Quite a challenge but she handled it like a Pro. Check out Oregon Horse Center on the web.
Take care.

Comments:Hello Bard Family,

I just wanted to send a Thank You for a wonderful Youth Worlds for my daughter Meghan this year. Reymond is a dream horse. He is kind, loving, gentle and has an amazing mind. Meghan went into the 10 and under Western Pleasure and Equitation and placed Reserve Champion in both, as well as Reserve Champion in English Hunt Seat Equitation, unfortunately due to a tie she came home with the third place ribbon, but she was so proud of Reymond that she didn't care. She also placed 10th in Hunter under Saddle, 7th in Showmanship and 3rd in Trail missing Reserve Champion by one point. They had worked really hard together all year for that event and they were so beautiful together, it made me cry. I cannot tell you how many people have come up to me and said if we could just have 30 Reymond's we could run the show. He is such a wonderful part of our family. We will be showing him in the next App. Journal so keep an eye out.

Thank you again,

Erin Elliott

Comments:Joe and Jan,
I am truly sorry to hear about the passing of Sir Wrangler.
He was an amazing horse that has been shown and proven himself through all his babies. T.T.C. won't be the same without him at the stallion auction! The kids riding out on him bareback! What a guy he was. My memories of those years will never be forgotten. As a young rider and going through the years of showing on the Appy circuit, I was always impressed by him and his get. My sister is lucky to have a daughter of his now to trail ride with.
My heart goes out to you. I lost Poco Sam 3 years ago after owning him for 20 years. He left me at 28. I miss him dearly to this day.
God Bless and rest his good soul.
My best to you, Take care

Comments:Many years ago we bought our first Sir Wrangler horse. Back then we paid what a lot of people thought was too much money!! However, while we kept and loved our safe, sane and reliable horse for many years, these same people went through horses like hotcakes....either they were too spooky, didn't like the shows, pranced instead of standing still...the list goes on. They ended up spending twice as much as we did for our beloved Wrangle-on-By. Then came Reymond Wrangler....one of the sweetest and most dependable horses to ever live! He won too..ended up being the 2004 Western Equitation Snohomish County 4-H Grand Champion (Thanks Sydney!)
Sir Wangler will continue to live on in all of the incredible horses he has produced.....thank you to the Bards for all they have done to make it possible for so many people to have wonderful memories and to have the ongoing pleasure of owning a Sir Wrangler horse.

So sad to hear of the great Champion of Champions passing. I will NEVER forget Sir Wrangler. When I attend the World show I still see the Sir Wranglers at the top. And I will NEVER forget that Canute was the horse that made a name for Monica Baker when she was 11 yrs old and she became the Rookie of the Year for the ApHC. I remember reading in the Western Horseman magazine 20 yrs ago, "Good horses make good riders not good riders make good horses." This many years later I agree with that statement. Monica is a good horsewomen because of the talented horses she has ridden.
With sincere respect to a great horse and sire, Patty, Monica Baker and Kara Baker-whitsell.

It must be so hard for you as he was such a tremendously talented horse.
You gave him a wonderful long life at the ranch and hopefully you have some great memories of all that you accomplished together.
It's weird to think that this is the first year he hasn't had any foals on the ground. Maybe in some way, he knew it was his time.

I'm saddened to hear the news of Wrangler's passing. It is the end of an era, but what a great legacy he left behind!! What a hole in everyones hearts though. He will surely be missed! When I last saw him, he looked in great shape. Wow - no words to express the sadness I feel - I'm sure this was a great shock for everyone at your place. I'm glad you still have the last Sir Wrangler babies!! Thanks for sending the pictures also - I still remember the great pleasure he was to ride on the trails. I always felt so very lucky to have been able to ride him a couple times. It's sad that he is gone, but he brought so much enjoyment to lots of people over a quite long period of time. Twenty-nine years!!! I know I'm getting old when it doesn't seem like that long ago he was a unbroken youngster! Give me a call if I can be of any help in any way.
Rhonda

So sorry to hear about your loss, he sure was a grand horse. He left you some great gifts through his get. He looks great in this photo, he aged very well, and looks so content.
Cindy

I am so sorry to hear about Wrangler. Now, you like me, will have to live on memories- good and wonderful ones,I am sure, but memories never the less. You will cherish ever photo more and be so glad you took every one. His family will live on and make him and you all proud.
Love ya, Aunt Shirley

I am so sorry for your loss.
Nothing but time can heal the wounds of losing a great animal such as Wrangler.
Kelli

So sorry to hear of the loss of Wrangler. What a great guy and what a heritage he has left. Just two weeks ago my niece called from Walla Walla to tell me of the continued winning streak her little 8 yrd old daughter and Sinnamon are having. I loaned Sinnamon to them almost 3 years ago ( did not want to sell her, saving her for our great grandson) and she wipes up at every show even against the adults. My neice said all the horse show people in Walla Walla have fallen in love with Sinnamon; so Wrangler's reputation continues in many places and many ask where she got such a great horse. I also think all the early work that your daughters put in with her was a real plus for us. Thank you!!!!

Beautiful photos to treasure and what handsome young stock. If and when I ever get back over there I will have to come and see them. Thank you for letting me know the sad news.
Renee

I am so sorry to learn of Wrangler's passing. What a wonderful life he

He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Wrangler's passing.
It makes me very sad, and I know you are in mourning also.
I have such wonderful memories of that horse, and he taught
me a lot about the difference between what he looked like, and
who he was.
He scared the blazes out of me the first time Jack and I took care
of the horses, I remember standing on bales of hay, throwing a flake
into his stall because he looked so mean.
Then you guys showed me what a lover he was.
I will miss him greatly.
Larry.

We are sorry to learn about Wrangler. I know that it was a hard thing to
have him put down. You have a good history and memories and beautiful off-
spring to remember him.
He had a good life and will be remembered as one of the great ones.
Love, Joe and Bea

Thank you so very much for letting me know about your boy. I have often wondered how you guys are doing (as well as all the Wranglers). Will you be bringing along another stallion? I still hope to get another Wrangler again…even if I have to hunt one down someday. I really can’t afford another horse at the moment…time is more of an issue, I guess, and my new horse has been fun…but difficult to bring along….lots of spirit with a funny personality. I have to say, how much I miss my Red (a Wrangler son) though. No horse will ever be as nice….I often wish he was still with me….and ….you know he really is….my dreams keep him alive.

Sorry, for your loss, it is never easy. His picture was amazing..hard to believe he was 29 years.
Marti

It is hard to lose a great horse when he has been in your life for so long. He was lucky to have you and he was perfect for you. Glad he was in good health to the end and had a great life. Thank you so much for allowing me to share part of his life.

I'm so sorry to hear the loss of Sir Wrangler.

Sorry to hear about Wrangler's passing. He was a great horse who produced fine babies.

Candy-N-Kisses will be 22 this year. She is still in good health but I can see her slowing down more and more each year. She seems to like the weather better here in Ellensburg though. My how time flies’s Seems like they were just babies not to long ago.

So sad to hear of your loss, he truly was a great horse and a lucky one to have had you for owners.
Julie and Steve S

We feel very fortunate to have a wrangler in our barn. Wyatt did not get to 15 hands as we had hoped so we had him gelded. He is now in training with the Lori Larsen and hopefully will be one of many wranglers on the breed show circuit.
Del and BernaDeane

Jan I am so sorry to hear about Sir Wrangler. My heart truly goes out to you at this time. He was a magnificent stallion, and I know your pride and joy.You can see him in Toolman, as far as the posturing and elegance of stance. Marcia and I feel honored to have Sirius T Black as ours. Just knowing that Sir Wrangler has left an incredible lineage through his fillies and his grandsons is something to be very proud of. Mardi K

I am so sorry that Sir Wrangler is no longer with us! What a shock! We will treasure our girls; Sassy N Wranglers and Wrangler Maid all that much more. Thank you letting us be a part of his extended family. Dear Jan and Joe, we felt such sadness to learn that Sir Wrangler had passed away.. He was a great horse. We feel privileged to have two Sir Wrangler babies. Our four year old, Sassy is a natural stopper and has a lovely reiner's spin. The lovely nature, athleticism and good looks of both of our babies we attribute to Sir Wrangler.

Thank you for letting us know Mike and Barb

I am totally heart broken! I am so sorry about Wrangler. What a life...29 years! and most of them with great people like you all! He couldn’t of had a better home.
Your friend,
Kyle

We were so sorry to hear your news about Sir Wrangler. He was a remarkable horse and will be greatly missed. But on the other hand, 29 was a good age and he looked great in the last picture.
We certainly prize our two Wrangler babies. They are now in Colorado with us and get lots of admiration from the people at the Rocky Mountain Lazy J Bar S Ranch in Loveland where we keep them. We have gotten in a lot of bragging about Wrangler. His kids are some of the nicest looking out of the hundred or so horses at the ranch.
By the way, Zee looks just like our Josie (Wranglers Pageturnr) did at the same age. She turns 11 next month and has roaned out a lot since then.

JUST A HORSE !
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse,” or, "that's a lot of money for "just a horse”. They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a horse.” Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a horse,' and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise.". "Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.” Just a horse" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.” Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman.” So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because they” just don't understand .

So sorry to hear about Sir. It is so hard to lose an old friend. Sir has
made a huge impact on the Appaloosa breed and has provided many wonderful
memories through his offspring. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to own and love I Be Wrangler. She has been one of the kindest horses to be around and she has done her part to create lifetime memories for us. She
will always be a part of our family and we thank you for the opportunity. We currently are waiting for her to foal with her second baby by The Hunter.
Her first foal was a filly by Lads Strawman and Lady looks very much like her mother. We have begun riding her this year and already she shows great
talent to carry on the Wrangler legacy.
Hope your Sir Wrangler sons can fill their father's footsteps.
We send our sympathies and hope that you will find comfort that Sir is smiling down on all who knew him.
Sincerely,
Laura McD

Sir Wrangler was a wonderful horse and we all will miss him. I am happy that I got to meet him a couple of times over the last several years. He did accomplish a lot during his life, and his offspring is still doing that!

Thank You for sharing him with us!.

Comments:I must write of something that I think is of much more importance than all the recent disagreements of our club that may affect the very core of horse ownership and all that it entails. In fact, the infomation I have researched is very terrifying!

It concerns the NATIONAL ANIMAL ID SYSTEM ---WE ARE TOLD this system will keep track of animal disease and to do so we must register our premises. So far that is all we have been told. I had to find out more.

ON 1/19/06 I telephoned Kenny, a rep at Texas Animal Health Commission and from what he told me I have become very very alarmed for what is being implemented right under the horse, and other livestock owners’ noses. THERE HAS BEEN LITTLE OR NO MEDIA ATTENTION ABOUT THE DETAILS! IT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED IN 2004 AND SO MANY OF MY HORSE FRIENDS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT!

WHAT A CROCK THIS IS AND WHAT A HEAVY BURDEN IT WILL BE ON HORSE OWNERS BECAUSE

1. LOTS of added paper work for law abiding citizens… Kenny told me that EVERYTIME I take my horse, cow, goat sheep, fowl, etc to the vet, a show, sale or other registered premise I must file a report that I have moved the animal off my property! If I forget then I would have to pay a fine! The show, rodeo and sale folks have to also keep track and file reports of which horses have been to their event.

My enjoyment and escape in my horses will become a drudgery like taxes.

Add up all folks who breed horses and keep up with all that paperwork for registering and keeping track of where they go with them, and trainers who have a barnful of animals who go to many different shows will be waterlogged with paperwork.

2. Trickle down effect will cause a big economic impact on the livestock industry. Imagine telling brand new horse owner that has just bought their first horse from you, a fulfillment of a life long dream, “oh by the way, now you have to register your premises with national animal id, your place will get a special number and your horse will get a special number and you now have to keep track and file reports of where you take that horse.” Many will decide it is not worth the effort. You will lose horse sales, feed dealers will lose hay and grain sales, saddle and tack makers will lose sales. This is only from the horse angle, what about 4H animals? Those kids already keep lots of records on their animals.

3. How will NAIS police folks who do not file reports? Local
sheriffs are not going to take time to travel all over the county to keep up on those who do not register their premises or file reports on those who do not report moving their animals off property.

4. This ID system is not going to offer that much protection from terrorists or disease. Terrorists and disease have a life all their own.

5. All the mountains of paperwork for those who work at NAHC. Add up all animals plus shows plus vet calls plus moving horses to trainers, sales, arenas, rodeos = 1000's upon 1000's of reports)

6. What is the guarantee $10 yearly premise registration fee will stay $10. At anytime USDA can decide to raise fee to any amount they feel is justified! So much paperwork has to be done by someone! The USDA will have to hire new employees, which of course, they will pay their salary by raising fees.

7. Who says that keeping track of cat and dog movements (vet, show, travel) are not next?

I see my US freedoms going by the wayside, just one step away from communism.

It is really true to have freedom you have to be vigilant!

Please contact your local and state reps and ask them to stop this idiotic program before we lose our freedoms and enjoyment of our animals.

I just started to ride this past summer and hope to do more of it this Spring and possibly enter "Buster" as we call him in some shows. Lady Jade Fancy, a thoroughbred was his mom. I live in Lewis County and might try some 4-h. I found a Sir Wrangler Golden Horshu trading card in my collection. Is he still living? If you have time, maybe you would email me about him I will try and send a picture of Buster and I. Thanks Natasha Kimbrel

Comments:Loved your Christmas letter and the photos and update on the girls. Bob & I know the complications of trying to develop any land. It's is crazy the number of hoops required to jump through even when it is your longtime owned property. Good luck, sounds like a great idea.

Is "ZipUpYour Wranglers" the new replacement??? Great looking guy, would love to see him in person. We are still very much in love with all of our Wranglers as is most everyone fortunate to on one.

Didn't get cards out this year as it has been a bit trying with Bob's heart problem. He is currently doing better for which we are so very thankful. Happy New Year!! Bob & Renee

Hello Jan, my "Wrangler" is doing GREAT! She is such a nice horse!
Learns quickly, has such a good attitude. I LOVE her, you are so right when you say they are lifetime companions. There is just something really special, that you don't see in other horses. She has a sweet look in her eye,
and nobody can believe how young she is with the attitude of a more mature horse able to handle things naturally, even when they are new to her. She greets me every day, wether I have treats or not. She nickers at me, and comes to see me no matter what or when.
I am so happy I found her, she is everything I was looking for and more :)
She does great barefoot, so I can go anywhere with her.
Great size, and has lovely gaits, very smooth.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Take care,
Bonnie

Comments:Hi Jan,
It was great to see you at the show last weekend.
Rica aka "Bubbles" was great. We did not win any ribbons but that is okay. This was her first show and the classes were huge. Rica was great, she stayed relaxed and was confident, which was all I was asking of her this first time out.

Thank You so much for the privelege of owning such a great horse. I am having a blast with her. I am sure it won't be long before my kids will be riding her too.

Thank You
Donna

We aquired Janie from Penny Lehew & her mom.

Comments:I was just looking at your horses pedigree and I see some of the same breeding our new hoirse has. "Bright Eyes Brother" has Plaudette on the top side, and I also see the horse Prince Plaudette #55156 in his breeding on his grandfathers side (Texas Flight). Interesting!

Comments:We just bought our first Appaloosa....three year old, named Three Smokes. He's got the Bright Eyes Brother breeding, and his grandfather was 1973 bronze medallion sire, Mighty Texan. He's really a smart horse, by earning his trust we can get him to do most anything. Looking forward to learning about the Appys, need to subscribe to a magazine! We have had horses for years, adopt and train mustangs, and I have a draft cross baby from Canada, she's awesome. Wish us luck with "Three Smokes"...he should be a goo one!
