I would love to see a sequel though in which Donna finds out she is his beneficiary.

Anyway, just wanted to say, excellent writing!

Comments:Wow.
I read "The Rarest Faith" a couple of years ago and just re-read it. You should have been a writer on the show; you could have been. You did such an amazing job writing the characters exactly how they should be and you stirred up just about every emotion at one point or another. This is one of my favorite stories and personally I think it turned out better than the end of the series did.
Sam as president. What a great thought. :)

One thing, though - I only read halfway through 'The Quality of Mercy', and for some reason now it's just coming up with a blank page when I try and click on it, and I'd really like to read it. Is there any way you could email that particular story to me, please? I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Comments:I started reading the Rarest Faith when you first posted the first part but I lost track of it -- I confess I wasn't much of a fan of West Wing then, I've seen only a few episodes. But I've recently acquired the first two seasons and fell hopelessly in love with the series and started tracking down fanfics.

I'm glad I found this again. I have to say, The Rarest Faith is the best west wing fanfic I've ever read. It stays faithful to Sorkin's West Wing, and from what I read about the seventh season, prophetic -- in the way that Donna becomes a major player in politics.

I'm going to maintain though -- that the events in TRF will occur somewhere down the line. I love what happened here too much. It's the ending I would have wanted. Thank you for writing such a lovely series.

Comments:I have read every single piece of West Wing fiction you have written. There is quite a bit. What's most astounding is that it retains its level of quality across the enormous quantity. Your stand alones have stuck with me since I read them, something that often doesn't happen in fanfiction. In particular the one about assisted suicide and the death of Josh's mother required a re-read. Also, the triology including "Written" was breath-taking. Each character encapsuled what I thought of Toby, Sam and Leo. The Rareist Faith was great. It felt like a plausible future.

I particular I like the details that make it into your work. From the dimension of religon to the banter, I have thoughouly enjoyed your writing. Thank you so much for sharing.

Comments:Wow! Just finished reading "Rarest Faith". So real that I'm afraid I will not be able to understand when this doesn't all happen on tv. Cudos to a great job with both story and character. My favorite parts were (crying) when Josh finally found his perfect assistant near the end and (laughing) at the references to one of my favorite episodes "Celestial Navigation", also near the end. Or perhaps I was just feeling emotional because I knew the end of this wonderful story was near. Thanks for a couple of days reading at the computer very well spent.

Comments:I've been reading fanfic for years, but only got into West Wing this summer. I was directed toward your work first thing by a friend who had been reading in the fandom for some time.

You have a grasp of the camraderie between these characters that is equalled by few writers - a companionship that's not always easy, but is always highly charged, stimulating, and fascinating to read about. Your characterization is nothing short of genius, and your plots intricate and compelling.

My favorite is of course "The Rarest Faith," which is the ultimate post-administration story, so painstaking in its detail and breathtaking in its scope. I also adored "Fait Accompli" - you managed to write fluff without having it descend into saccharine levels, which is a line few seem to even know exists.

In short, bravo and good work.

Comments:Hi, Marguerite. I've been hearing about your West Wing fanfiction ever since I started reading fanfiction a few months ago. For some reason I hadn't read it, though! What a treat was waiting for me. I was particularly struck by "The Fabulous Bartlet Boys," by the series of post-eps for "ITSOTG," and by the one about assisted suicide--I'm sorry, I'm lousy at remembering names. I know you're said to have given it up, and I understand, given the current state of the program, but is there any way of convincing you to keep writing stories based on the earlier seasons, or set in alternative worlds that are like those seasons? I turned to fanfiction in the hopes of rediscovering "my" show when the real thing had turned sour on me, and I'm still aching for more; I know there are a lot of others like me out there. Really good writing is so rare, and yours is such a pleasure to read. (It's nice to encounter someone with a literary bent, too. Love the Christopher Fry quote! I haven't read that essay, though "The Lady's Not For Burning" is a very special personal favorite thing.)

P.S. Trusting that you won't mind getting back to me--do you know how I can read the story "Amen" by Ellen Milholland that you mention in connection with your own ITSOTG post-eps? Her site doesn't seem to exist any more.

I've been reading and writing fan fiction for longer than I care to admit, having come up through Star Trek fandom. I've seen so much good writing out there, but yours is outstanding! I had typed in "West Wing Fiction" on Google, and I'm so thankful that your site came up! And this was just the first story I read! Wow, I have SO MUCH MORE to read. Thank you for sharing your talent with everyone. This story exemplifies why I love that show. Your characterization of Josh was so dead-on, and deeper of course than they can show on TV. I live in Spain where we´ve pretty much given up waiting for tv to finally air the show which I´ve been getting from dvds and friends in the States and Britain. I like the way you mix the personal and the political in your stories. By the way, by some uncanny coincidence, this weeks Economist (not what you would call a rabid left-wing magazine)has a story called "conservatives off the leash"... very scary. Some of those people make your Mr. Van Dyke look tame.

I took time yesterday to read "The rarest faith". Okay, I'm not going to lie to you, I didn't read the entire thing because it would take too long and I had to vote for thejeds =). But I read all parts you wrote with CJ and Toby and I really think you've captured them so well. I was really worried when i read it was Toby in the helicopter but luckily everything turned out fine.
The other parts of the fic I read, that didn't involv CJ and Toby, I liked them too. I liked how you didn't make Amy to this evil woman that everyone ended up hating.
So great job and I hope you win some awards at thejeds =)

Comments:Hello, again, Meg -
(You welcomed me to TheWestThing last week!)
I first found your writing through Jae Gecko some months back. I've watched for your name in WW fanfic everywhere, and was delighted to find your own site yesterday. I've read everything in just about one sitting! Whew!
All I can say is, you have a god-given talent. Your writing is so insightful, your phrasings and dialogue are breathtaking - and so REAL! I'm in great danger of liking your stuff better than the actual show!
You really, REALLY must publish (not that this isn't publishing in its own right).
Thank you SO much for hours of enjoyment - I've read some of your stories several times over, savouring new colourings and small moments with each visit.
Keep well, and see you around the "community"!

Comments:"That only I remember" was the most touching, raw, talented writing I've read. Ever. I thought I could write, but damn- you embarass me. I love angst- it's just so entertaining, y'know?- but this puts all other angst to shame. All the word tricks, the character developments- it read like poetry but told a novel. I have to ask though- how do you feel about a Sam-parent-death-angst-deal story?

Comments:Hi Marguerite,

Pardon me for presuming that that is your name as well as your addy. Anyway, tonight I have had the sublime pleasure of reasing a whole mess of your West Wing stories.
I read a lot of fic and I *love* West wing, but I avoid West Wing fic. Basically, I think Sorkin's a really good, OK, amazing, writer and he'll tell us the stories he wants us to know.
Your fiction changed my mind. Thank you kindly.
I read all of the "Written" "Percussion" "Fraternity" (I really liked Toby and his brother's relationship) and "Amen" saga (the last of which I know wasn't written by you but the ideas came from you.) Then I read and cried and laughed through "Vidui." We wouldn't see these things on television, but they are wonderful character studies. Then I read "Tranfigured Night...," "In Parting"(didn't need the shower scene myself, but you were writing for friend who wanted it) "Gentlemen's Agreement," (I thought Toby would be the one seeing anti-semitism where it was or wasn't)and "Dead Tape."
Anyway, thanks for a great time reading fic I am unaccustomed to.

I was completely taken with Amor Caritas when I first
read part of it last July. Hell of an introduction to
XF fan fiction. Most of the rest I have read, which
admittedly isn't all that much, hasn't made it up to
a Pitiful rating, so imagine my delight when I tripped
across those text files from last summer and began a
search for the conclusion that ended in. . .well,
Victory.
