I loved it. A lot has happened since then but things have settled and now I am back on my mission to become a member of AKA and making a difference from life long membership. All that I know is that he has fluid on his brain from a sinus infection and had to be hospitalized yesterday. There is not anything wrong with being invited to join a graduate chapter. However there is something wrong with compromising yourself to be so called "PLEDGED" which can often lead to death and often injury. Thank you to my sands for such an intelligent and classy response to blatant ignorance. There isn't much schooling to be done after that. BUT I do want to point out to ANY sisterfriend reading this board that undergraduate chapters do not and CANNOT exist (literally) without a graduate chapter's support. Those wonderful programs are approved, attended by and many times planned with the help of GRADUATE MEMBERS. That is all. Anything you don't know about MY organization is not for you to know (and with such a lack of social grace, tact and knowledge some never will know). From the below display I see that MANY are lacking DISCRETION and that is not what my sorority is about. Please don't bring negative vibes loosely laced with sarcasm onto this board. Your commentary about graduate chapters shows some ignorance about the organization. In order to want to join the organization you must understand the inner workings of the organization as whole. Do you even know the function that graduate chapters serve? Moreover, if you are lucky enough to be invited to join this illustrious organization of women you must also plan to be committed to AKA which requires a lifetime commitment - this means remaining active in a GRADUATE level chapter of the org. If you feel that some Sorors are not as 'made' as other sorors, that in itself shows some lack of sisterliness and sisterhood in itself and you may want to check that before you begin the rush process or MY sorors may overlook you. Furthermore,please be aware that AKA is a non-hazing organization. A 'process' is not what makes you my sister. It is what you do to enhance this organization through your individual abilities and strengths, it is your contribution to making this organization remain Divine, but certainly not if you were able to withstand pain for a few weeks.That is not where the strength of a woman is shown. So before you refer to any part of MY organization as 'pitiful' please check yourself or perhaps you may look in the direction of another organization or perhaps not one at all - because we all hold the same spirit. And regardless of whether you become a member of AKA or not, never refer to members as paper. I'm not even sure you can understand the significance of that as an interest. I think graduate chapters are pointless they take everybody as long as you have money and they are all paper members with no process! Let me say this...our dear Discogoddess & her family/network worked to no end in getting information out there...getting the major media networks on the case. I must applaud their efforts to bring her home. They were so very media savy & poised when most of us would have been broken down to no end. Now, they can truly begin to grieve & work to keep her memory alive in whatever way they choose. My prayer for this family is for PEACE...as they deal with this difficult time. ---------------- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11:00 P.M. CST, September 30, 2007 Funeral arrangements finalized for Nailah O. Family says body ID's as missing woman 10 minutes ago A drug sales representative who disappeared last week was found dead near a forest preserve, not far from where her car was abandoned, her uncle said Thursday. Calumet City Police Chief Russell Larson confirmed only that an unidentified woman's body had been found in the area Thursday morning. But Nailah Franklin's uncle, Dwayne Johnson, said authorities had told the family the body is that of his 28-year-old niece. Franklin was reported missing Sept. 19 after she missed a meeting with her boss at Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly. Her car was discovered in Hammond, Ind., on Friday night near an abandoned building. Shortly before she disappeared, Franklin had filed a police report about getting threatening phone calls from a man she had dated briefly. Chicago police said Monday they had interviewed someone Franklin once dated but have not named a suspect in her disappearance. Relatives and volunteers papered the area with fliers and took out a newspaper ad seeking the public's help after her disappearance. They also offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts. |

Best of all I have achieved my goal of becoming a member of the Beta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. It has been an even greater reward than I ever dreamed it could be, and I'm so excited about the events and activities my chapters has forth coming that I will be assisting and participating with.
