Ed_slack@slackula.com

http://www.slackula.com/slackestra Being self-funded requires a basal level of incipient slack. I'm surprised anyone's even asking. It's well-known. However, once your slack is in jeopardy, your self-funding is as well, and everything collapses just like a house built of empty foster's lager "oil cans." C'mon people, keep up!!

dude@losingit.com

http://dude.com This may be obvious but this is not the place to talk about the lincoln music scene. It is a tool of the man, so what? I dont know what self-funded and independent of the man is, but there are a lot of hard working musicians in this town that do a damn good job at what they do. You sit in your basement all day and dork around with ancient synthesizer equipment and old organs. it is better to work at the UNL bookstore during the days and play at PO PEARS every weekend than being on some slack mission. your war is over--the bums lost!!!

ed_slack@slackula.com

http://www.slackula.com/slackestra People have been griping to me lately, saying that the entire Lincoln Music Scene is basically a front for The Man. Oh sure, they say, you got your KZUM, your oh-so-hip groups, and the little cliques that Really Care About Things, but they ask me, "Ed, are they self-funded? Where do they get the money? Are they really ironic and hip, or are they a tool of the man? Do they even know it, if they are?" It is not for Ed to say, but I'd like any interested parties to post relevant material here, perhaps we can get to the bottom of all this.

I'm pleased to hear samples of true musicianship flourishing in the Midwest. Sheila Greenland and Suzy Dreamer can't hold a candle to the Tour de Force that is The Slackestra. Too bad its all for naught in the world of JET Real Estate Practitioners....
