| Comments: | All to often your letters appear in the paper or TBSource about people's freedom of choice. I did respond one with a letter of my own yet you nor any other smoker's right advocate responded. My question is this. Why are you not protesting other government regulations. Things like health inspections at restaurants and mandatory safety equipment on the job. Should I not also have the freedom to not wear a hardhat on a construction site or the freedom to eat at a non inspected restaurant at my own risk.

Next time someone tries to tell you ETS causes Cancer, remember this. Hundreds of years of human testing demonstrates no evidence. No Cancer reported, no cluster or epidemic in biological assay. In fact the results were so insignificant and unremarkable, no one even bothered to write the report. So next time this urban myth is mentioned; Hold up your middle finger as evidence, ETS does not cause cancer in humans. Scientific fact has but one rule reproducable consistently, so repeat as required FXR |

1) What is in it for you to write lies about smoking and SHS? First off, they're not lies. Second, I'd love my social life back, I'm getting tired of sitting at home, but I will not go where I am not welcome, and since this is BC, Canada, smoking rooms are actually legal here, and there is only one of them in a 100 mile radius. 2) Are you perhaps an inmate of a prison or a mental facility? I'm not, nor is the person who has the guest book, but so what if it were. That is their home, and they should be able to smoke in their home. Smoking does not cause someone to be a criminal or a mental case. And if you think that the only people with guts enough to stand up for their desire to smoke are criminals or mental patients, you are very delusional, and completely out of touch with 30% of your fellow countrymen. 3) Are you prepared to stand behind your statements when someone actually dies because of believing what you write? I will, so here is the deal, you show me, with scientific proof, that someone died from second hand smoke. That means that they get an illness that is caused by second hand smoke. And that would include.... Oh, there aren't any. You show me the death certificate, with the cause of second hand smoke. And don't give me the argument that that is just a minor detail. There is a reason, a darn good one, that that does not happen. Ask a coroner why, he'll tell you. 4) Are you completely off your rocker? No, we're not, we're just SICK AND TIRED of being blamed, day after bloody day, of hearing about how if there was no smoke, the world would be perfect, no one would get cancer, heart disease and lung disease. Common sense says we should learn to get along with our fellow citizens, ALL OF THEM. That includes making room for them in our lives. We are simply asking that we be allowed to share the space we take up each day. Is it really too much to ask for a smoking room at our jobs, our restaurants, our bars, our bingo halls, etc. Ventilation is available, and if you say they don't work, you have not bothered to even take a look at the systems. If ventilation didn't work, then quarantine units in hospitals would not work, and science labs would spread all their germs around, and even something as simple as a wall, would not keep the smell of the street from our homes. But they do work. It makes a lot more sense to find a place for us in life, rather than delegating us to our own homes. The reason that websites like these even exists is that we are being forced out, and we are getting angry. There are some real ways that we can be included, without intruding on those who want to be separate from us. Those things include: Some places being non-smoking, voluntarily; designated ventilated smoking rooms in some; completely smoking in others, and no one forces you to go there; filter masks for industrial workers where non-smokers are the minority (masks do work, otherwise industrial painters would all die after a year on the job); letting workers choose whether they want to work at a smoking place or not. It makes far more sense to include us, because if you don't we will fight, and we will win, because the science backs us up. Have you ever wondered why we win even one battle if we were lying?
