What a waste of time. Okay, I know that stealing is absolutely wrong, but come on. People 'steal' graphics everyday. I don't think everyone is aware of what they can and can't take when they want something off a website. Okay, I look at it this way, you don't someone to take something off your website that belongs to you, don't post it. Period. Okay, no one can fully remove the 'stealers' from the internet. Most people take things off websites because they like them. I don't think they intend to actually steal anything. It's like the real world, they'll never be able to completely eliminate thiefs. They're always gunna be around. Who knows where most people get their graphics from, chances are they took them off some other website they found that's not the true maker's website of the graphic they took. I personally make graphics myself, including kao anis. I know for a fact that I could make a graphic a certain way, and then I find almost the same graphic on some other site, with the person claiming to have made it. Does that mean I stole that graphic? It's for the same reasons artists paint pictures or make pottery any other kind of artform. Ultimate Silliness [h] Lovely site. I make kaos too, and I must say it's frusterating when people just steal them and put them up. That's why I've taken them off my site, but I'm planning to put them up again, with a password protection. Something helpful is a left click block, which you can put on your page. Personally, I think this is a waste of your (and others') time. I have been interested in this subject for over five years now and have discovered literally thousands of sites displaying kaoanis that were originally created by various Japanese artists, but which have been passed around the Internet for so long that they are now pretty much in the public domain. Many of the Japanese websites originally offered these kaoanis for free, but I have seen many sites taking credit for "creating" these same kaoanis. It would be difficult, at this point, to even prove who created what. But a more important question is, why waste the effort trying to track down "kaoani thieves?" (Or smiley thieves, for that matter). With all the plethora of sites using these things, you are basically fighting a losing battle, and aren't there more positive ways to use your time and energy? Mimisk8 uses alot of kao's that I've created and I gave her permission to do so. I'd appreciate it if you stopped telling people to harass her. Stopping Kao Theft [h] To the previous poster who did not understand the use of kaos- PLEASE read my site before making such a comment. Simplified, what I'm saying is this: Don't take credit for someone else's art. Don't distribute someone else's art (offering them as free graphics on your site). Put them on your site, yes, but please give credit to the artist, and follow their rules, which are usually posted -frequently IN ENGLISH- right on the site.
