I got him when he was just 6mths old, broke him i with love.,
He would follow me around the yard like a dog and steal the tea out of my cup.
Life goes on but like jake he will never be replaced.

I didn't know Jake, but after reading your article, I feel like I know him now. What a great dog. I've got a 115 pound black lab named Fritz, named after me!! My wife and I think of him as our son, we're so close to him. I'm out of town right now in Alpharetta, GA working. After reading your story about Jake, I'm really mising my boy. Thanks for sharing that story, I'll have to let my wife read it. Fritz will be 7 on April 15th 2007 and it really pains me to know that he won't live for 50 years. You really get attached to them especially when they're such good dogs. Did you ever get another dog? Thanks again for the great write-up.

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope by now you have opened up your heart to get another pet. You sound like the type of guy that really know how to love and take care of your canine partner. I really enjoyed the story about Jake and I thank you for remembering him here, for us to learn about him and enjoy him even though he is gone from this world. I have a bird "Buster" who has been with me about 15 year. Through a divorce and my kids growing up and away. I look forward every day going home to him. I one day will go through what you did. Thanks for sharing.jb

What do you remember about Jake?:

Hi, Jake. I made it Here to see you, finally. I arrived on August 8th, 2003. I had a mass on my spine the size of a tennis ball that they found when I couldn't get up by myself anymore. The whole family was with me. They put me on a nice pretty blanket at my favorite vet's and they all petted me and told me what a good dog I was and then I smiled as I went to sleep with my mom's hand on my neck. It was so peaceful.....Everyone cried but I think it was because they were so happy that I wouldn't hurt anymore. It has been such a long time since I have played with you. You were my best friend and I loved being in the same family as you. I will miss Sylvester, Beast, Minnoce and the human family I loved so much but I am so happy to be Here finally with you. Let's go play by the creek and chase some squirrels now that I can run again. Remember North Market Park and how we used to be walked there, by St. Wenceslaus? I loved that one big pine tree so much. Don't you wish our humans could be as happy as we are? Love is forever, Jake, and I am glad I can be in love with you. Yours forever, Blitzkrieg von Ebernz of Pine Hills...................

What do you remember about Jake?:

I didn't know Jake or Spyder but we had a dog like Jake. We got Lady when she was 6 weeks old. She was a Springer Spaniel with a little Cocker. She died at 14 of kidney failure. That dog went everywhere with us. Vactions to Montana, Oregon, any road trip. As soon as we started packing the van she was sitting in it waiting and you knew she wasn't letting you leave without her.

Her best buds were our cat CJ (calamity jane) and my father-in-laws pit bull lab mix. We got CJ as a kitten when Lady was three and they slept together from the first day CJ came home with us. Other than CJ Lady hated cats. If she was in the front yard and a cat moved a half a block all you would see of Lady was a brown streak headed for that cat.

We had here put down when her kidneys failed. She suddenly got real tired and wouldn't eat so we took her to the vet. They said nothing could be done without dialysis she would die a slow and painful death. They kept her fpr a couple of days to get her hydrated then said take her home for one last night, give her her favorite food, let her know she is loved then bring her in and put her to sleep.

We put her favorite bed by the fireplace, fed her a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs and I stayed up all night laying by her side and talking about the times we had together. Next day I took her in and held her while they gave her the shot. She knew what was comming she looked me straight in the eyes while the needle went in. I miss her every day. We still have CJ and I think she misses Lady too.

I don't know Spyder either but can tell by the care he has put in this WEB site that Jake was a lucky dog.

Thanks for letting me talk about my Best Friend.

Imagine my surprize as I am checking out HD sites, to find one connected to a beloved chow chow named Jake.
We have two HD's and also a german wire hair named Cal and a mutt chow named Guess. Our two dogs arn't really dogs they are more like our next set of kids. They come and go in and out of the house as they please. Guess sleeps with us and Cal sleeps on the floor by our bed. Cal is 9 and Guess is 5. We are hoping they have a long life with us like Jake had with you. About the only thing we love more than our dogs, and family is riding our harleys. I thank god everyday for the freedom and beauty I see and feel going down the road. May You be blessed too, and I'm sure Jake is waiting to meet you when your time comes.

What I remember about Jake is what I remember about in my dog, Otto (Wolsungs Overture) a Doberman. It's hard to tell another person the feelings slash conversations you can have with your bud but it's there. Communication, telepathy, call it what you want but the day Otto passed on, we spoke. He had been having trouble getting up and that afternoon I sat down with him and watched tv. He struggled to move around so he could lay his head on my leg and just stared at me as I rubbed the bridge of his nose. He sat up and looked me in the eyes, I felt him telling me he loved me and that he was not going to be around anymore. I said out loud "thank you for the life we had and being my freind, I love you too buddy. He passed on that night in his bed, dreaming of chasing those damb rabbits up bunny hollow or running along the surf in Ventura, CA. Thanks for sharing your story about Jake, it never occured to me that I'll see Otto again, what a cumforting thought. Ed Perry, Salt Lake City.

What do you remember about Jake?:

Hi- I did not know Jake but I think I did in a special way. He sounds like my friend Red (half red Chow and wolf) When he would look at you he seemed to talk pages with his eyes. I moved from Texas last year and thought I was doing the right thing when I took him and my two Chinese Pugs to the vet for a checkup. The vet tested them for heart worms and all of them came up with them. I wanted them to be healthy so I said go ahead and give them the medicin to get rid of the hart worms. My friends were all active healthy looking babies when I took them to the vet but because they where from an area in Texas that has hart worms realy bad the vet in Iowa did not know how to dose them for it. They came home and were so sick and just looked at us like why why do I feel so bad. My Red was so weak and he just looked at me like why did you make me so sick when I did not feel bad before? If I knew the cure was so hard on them I would have let them live as long as they could. The vet never told me the cure was arsnic poisin to kill the worms. I still see Red looking at me and loveing me like only a trusting child would his Mom and Dad can. The joy our friends give us is so wonderful I realy am looking forward to joining them again some day. You were so lucky to have Jake for so long. Thank you for your wonderful memorial to Jake. God Bless -Ride Free.

Hi i am Brandon i am thirteen years old and i am sorry for your loss. When i was in first grade i had a dog that was half German Shepard and half Chow Chow. He was my best friend and i would do anything for him. But one day when i came back from school my mom was walking him and she was side tracked and my mom was talkin to a lady across the street. My dogs name by the way was Rocky. And this girl came out of her house and had a stick so my dog tried to protect my mom and bit the little girl. Of course the bite wasn't fattle it was more like a pinch. But the girl picked at it and made it deeper and as a result told her mom and she had to get one stitch. My mom put the dog down and i was so sad. I still think about all the good times i had with Rocky. he was my pride and joy and from the day i lost him i lost myself. I still do good in school but when i see pictures, videos, or other dogs that look like him i get sad.I am really sorry for the loss of jake, but i know how it feels. Sincerely, Brandon bbing@cfl.rr.com

You don't know me, and either did your Jake. It has been a
few weeks since I've looked at MY Jake's memorial page, and
I couldn't remember where it was. In my search, I came
across YOUR page and found myself reading every word,
soaking it all in, and crying softly at my desk. I lost my
Jake-Kitty to feline leukemia recently, I watched his
health slowly decline while I pumped him full of medicines
and I.V needles in an attempt to bring him back. I do know
firsthand the grief that comes with losing one so dear,
and I do know that we will never be quite the same again,
having had and lost such love. I felt compelled to drop
you a note and tell you how very sorry I am for your loss.

Spyder,
What can you say when someone loses very old and dear
friend. Nothing. Nothing will relieve the pain of losing
someone close to you. But take heart in knowing that Jake
is now free to run with his canine brothers and sisters. He
is free from the pain that old age brought him. And he is
free to be with you everywhere you go. He no longer has to
stay on a leash. He no longer has to stay at home, at the
shop, or in the car. Close your eyes, look in your heart
and I know he is with you, always.

The first time I saw Jake he was a bit intimidating with
his larger size and his low gruff bark, but after just
petting him for a few minutes, he became this big fluffy,
loveable teddy bear always looking for a scratch on the
back. It was easy to tell how much Jake loved his 'Dad',
and you could see the feeling was more than mutual
with 'Dad' too. My youngest daughter fell instantly in love
with Jake as she did with his owner, and when I told her
the news of Jake's passing, she shed some tears and told me
that she will always love Jake and we can always visit him
on Spyder's web pages so he will never be forgotten. Jake
lead a full life, having more adventures than most dogs do.
He was a loyal companion and friend. I will miss him! Rest
in Peace Jakester.
