I did't plan on giving him up at first but then my parents forced me to. I married Steven's father on 10/18/69. We had 2 other children, Nicole, and we named another boy Stevie. I tried to find him since he turned 18 but no luck. In February 1999, right before Valentine's day I got a phone call from my daughter. My dream had happened, her older brother had found on gthe internet were I had signed up to search and he called her. It was the answer to all my prayers. She gave me his phone number and I called him. We talked for along time and I cried for hours. Him and his wife drove up from San Diego to San Jose to meet me, his younger brother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin. It was a great day. Him and his wife have become a part of our family. It's like picking up after 30 years and never missing a beat. My other two children are his full brother and sister. His adopted parents had bth died before our reunion. I ended up going back to the home and getting my high school diploma and graduating. I am planning on taking him with me one day up there to show him ad see if we can find out anything. Just remember never give up, once he started looking it only took him a month to find me. There is a god and he saw fit to bring me and my son back together, the way it should have been. Francine |

Seems as though most of the comments are from the adopted children ... what do we need to do to open the lines of communication to birth parents who at one time or another were severely ostrasized in the midst of giving the most generous gift of life? I wish more of the birth parents could log on and find you. I know that some day I will find either of my birth parents, but in the meantime, I have no strong feelings except for the natural curiosity of the adopted child - I have been so blessed to have the best parents in the world! The discovery of a child that one had lovingly given to another family is definitely one of life's "full circles" and should be available to all - I know ... I gave up a daughter born on Mother's Day ... she was inquisitive enough, and gifted with wonderful adoptive parents, and she found me after her 18th birthday! Life may not always be easy, but it is certainly happier with more OPEN communications. We need to change some of the laws! Get involved! |

I remember Sister Anne and Sister Eulalia. I had wonderful, supportive friends at St. E's and would love to hear from them. I remember Bulah-she was my roommate. I was known as Cheryl at St. E's. My daughter and I were reunited 10 years ago. I actually found her several years before that but was afraid to approach her. I met her quite by accident. I had taken one of my daughters to girl scout camp and Anne happend to be one of the senior leaders at the camp. It was close to her birthday and we talked about her age, adoption and where she was born. All her information matched and I knew she was my daughter. But, I didn't have the courage to confront her then. Anyway, shes part of our family and we all love her dearly. We have 3 other daughters and a son-Anne, of course, is the oldest. After I had Anne-her name at St. E's was Deborah Anne-I was able to see her everyday in the nursery and even watched her Baptism. I held her and visited with her for an hour before I handed her over to her social worker. Those were the dark days-now we have each other and I cherish every moment. Good luck to all of you looking for your moms and to my fellow birthmothers I wish you the best. By the way, I read the Guest book and realized that some of you adoptees were born while I was at St. E's-but, I would only know your mothers St. E's names-not their real names. I have found out that my Birth mother gave me her full name. She was born in Ohio,1932, She had spent about 10mo's in the Marine Corp when she found out she was pregnant. She had been badly burnt as a child. she was the youngest living sibling of four. She also used the name of Debbie Sue Williams. I have reason to believe this was my birth fathers last name. He was also born in Ohio, 1932/33, and was a seaman(navy). Both had black hair, fair skin. She had hazel eyes, about 5'4", weighed 120/124, medium build. He had blue eyes, about 5'7", They apparently met in California. She had a fear of cars and driving. I had a lawyer find the info from my original birth certificate, but I am not sure how correct it was. Birth name was: Ascella Carr, and mother's maiden name was Robinson. In the non-identifying information that I got from the adoption agency, it said that my mother had a sister, and my father had two brothers. It also said that both her father, and my father flew planes- not for a living, but for sport. I would love to meet either my birth motheror birth father. I think it would give me a lot of peace. According to the court records my birth mother was born on 6/8/51 and birth father was born on 10/25/48. According to the "non-identifying" information, my birth mother at the time was 16, 5'5 3/4", 107 lbs, brown hair, bule eyes, fair complexion, attractive girl, and good in singing. I received some information from the County of San Mateo as they handeled my adoption. The Social Worker stated that my birth mother was born in Redwood City and was an "exceptionally lovely girl". Also that my birth father finacially supported my birth mother while at St. Elizabeth's on the salary he was earning working at a service station. Could just be a coincidence, but on Rootsweb I found a female born in San Francisco County on 9/6/67 birth name Christine Bickell and mother's name Tobler. And I found a female born in San Mateo County on 6/8/51 birth name Cynthia Tobler.

I was never adopted, but my birth mother gave written permission to my birth father to take me from the home. Birth father is "ELIJAH CALDWELL" from Ohio. He is now 79 and doesn't remember much about her, as it was a brief affair while he was in the military. Her mother was alive and well according to other unidentifying info, but her father was killed in an accident a few years earlier. No mention of a brother or sister. She would be about 71-72 years old and I am now 48 years old, and I need to tell her that I love her, forgive her, and want to help her if she needs help. God has been good to me all my life. | Comments: | I am searching for my brother. He was born in OKC, OK at
University Hospital on 10-14-68. His birth name was Clifford Daniel McCoy. He was placed through Catholic chartities out of Santa Rosa, Ca and adoption was final 4- 72. Birth mother did not want to relinguish! She was forced into the street's by a new husband that had abused my brother so she would have no resources to take care of him so far away from home. Our birth mother with three older children and little education came back to OKC, OK and LOST our brother. I'm not sure if they said she abandoned him or what. I do know he was adopted by a couple that was born in NY and had 2 natural children at time of adoption. Our birth father knew nothing of the trouble untill months later. Our birth mom was scared if she didn't come back to Oklahoma she would also loose her other three children and she didn't know what to do or where to go for help. Mom was also afraid that her then husband would abuse her or my sister's if she testified against him. I put this here in hopes that if someone know's my brother or maybe he or his family might run across this; they will contact me. I can be emailed or snail mailed at "Resident" P.O. not sure of the dates. She passed away in Aug. of 2000. She was pushed into giving him up for adoption. Her family sent her to St. Elizabeth's in San Francisco. For many years I heard and felt my mother's pain. She always wanted to find her son. But because of family situations, she never followed her heart. I want so bad to find my brother. I found my birth family in one day!! Nov.17,2000-the feast of St.Elizabeth!! I was born at St. E's. I have visited St. E's. I was fortunate enough to get my entire file (Original-not copies!) released to me.You wouldn't believe all that was in there- those sisters kept everything that was ever sent from the date my Birth Mom entered to the after she left!!!I even have all of the records about my birth!! It has been a roller coaster ride, that is for sure!! Sadly, my birth mother and I have no contact any more. Joyfully, I have great contact with my Birth dad and brothers!! I am looking forward to meeting them- they are in Texas and I am in California! I was so lucky to be raised by the woman I refer to as my "Real Mom" !
