I purchased a horse from Ronda Bowerman (http://bowermanshowhorses.com/sale_horses_2.html) in Loomis, Ca. The mare,Sophie, was advertised to be healthy, sound and ready to ride. When a vet check was done, she told the vet the mare had a stone bruise on her front right hoof.. Me being so trusting, and the vet saying that could be the case. I purchased her for my 11 year old daughter. After we got home, the next afternoon she was favoring her front leg. I have suspicions regarding the treatment to disguise the possible lameness. I called my farrier and he pulled the shoe and what we saw was not a stone bruise but a laminatictic hoof with white line. I called my vet and x-rays were taken the next day. The x-rays showed her coffin bone severly rotated and not a stone bruise as I was told. The vet said this was a chronic condition not acute. This has taken a long period of time to get to this extreme condition. My poor daughter is devastated, and we have to put this wonderful, sweet, beautiful, schooled mare down. I have tried to contact Ronda Bowerman to make it right but she has refused. I guess this is a very expensive horse rescue $3,800.00 expensive!! I am so sad to have to put her down but that is the most humane thing we can do for her, as the vet said her coffin bone is 6mm from the ground and can punch through at any time. If anything good is to come of this it would be that anyone wanting to purchase a horse from her that you be aware and get a vet check and x-rays before considering purchasing a horse.If anyone has had a similar happening with this Horse Trader please Re-Post....thank you She was advertised on Dream horse but has since been pulled.. |
