| Comments: | Hi i am trying to import my fixed wing microlight into cyprus am having some trouble doing so. she is sat at limassol port and the customs do not know how to prepair the doc to allow me to collect it and bring it in to the republic. I have been told by the customs that there will be a charge to the republic for bringing it into the republic. but the DCA told me it is a simple as bringing in a Tv as long as I hev my licence and all the relitave docs then there should be no charge does anyone know who is right. |

| Comments: | I was fortunate enough to meet David last year. Unfortunately his wing had blown over and suffered some damage the night before so we could'nt fly. Instead he took me to his home and introduced me to some of the club members who had called round.I found him to be very helpful and informative as i hope to bring my plane to cyprus one day. TWO microlight pilots have just missed out on breaking the record for flying from England to Cyprus. Australian-built Airborne XT 912 microlight after taking off from Plaistows airfield, St Albans at 0836 on Friday 9th September. They landed just after midday on Saturday 16th September at Paphos International Airport. THE RECORD BREAKERS Name : Jaysukh Madhvani Age : 53 Born in Kenya and moving to England at the age of 14, Jay left school to join the Armed Corps serving in Germany and Northern Ireland. After leaving the army, Jay became a AFI and later a CFI (X rated - meaning he can instruct and take GST's (General Skill Test) operating two microlight flying schools in Hertfordshire. W:www.jayairsports.com. Name : David Armstrong Age : 70 After completing 2 years national service in England, Dave became a bookbinder by trade and later started a small printing business. After retiring at the age of 57, he bought his first house in Cyprus in 1985, moving permanently to Cyprus 10 years ago. Dave Armstrong is also the head of the Cyprus Microlight Club which reports directly to the Cypriot CAA for air safety. | Comments: | All the friends of Dave Armstrong in the UK from Plaistows Farm and the Exodus and Barnet Flying Club were all very saddened at the loss of another pilot. I first met Dave when I started my lessons with the late Jay Madhvani back in 2003. They were both great characters in microlighting circles and much admired for their passion of flying and enjoyment of life. I waved them both good bye on their epic trip from Plaistows to Paphos and admired their courage. I was expecting to see Dave in a couple of weeks time when he returned to UK. We send our deepest sympathies to Sue and the family and will miss him greatly as we all ready miss Jay. Safe flying to you all, Steve Greene |

| Comments: | Hi Guys, just returned from a holiday in Cyprus during which my niece go married. I would have loved to have visited you at Cyprus but was unaware of a Microlight Club on Cyprus. Intend to return soon and wondered if I could visit your club and maybe blag a flight. I have 250 hours on flex wing (Quantum 582) 50 hours on fixed wing (Eurostar and Skyranger) types, I am based at Sywell (Northampton)with Flylight Airsports. What a beautiful place you chaps have to fly in, except the occupied bit, I would have loved it. Are there any restrictions on flights/airspace out there? Are the rules of the air the same as in the UK? One day i'll fly down there and make that same flight as you guys.
