| Comments: | Ringo, mate suggest you have a few more map reading lessons mate, Newark is 20 miles from Nottingham, and Stapleford is only 9 miles from Nottingham, and ther aint no pub called the Lion Revived or any such pub with the name like it either. Anyway if you want to mix it at the TBI, with all those young hot heads and such like, you are free to carry on, as Stapleford is close to the M1, and it only takes 12 mins to get to Nottingham City Centre, and also has enough cheap B&B'S, and motels Hotels in close proximity, it's as good as place as any to have a base camp at. Feel free to attend, if i can organize a night out for all interested, if you want women, booze, reunions, tilley lamp swinging or old war stories, all are welcome, being as Rocks are so diverse, who cares what one Rock does or why he attends a reunion, as long as he enjoys himself mets other ex Rocks, and has a good time, and dont get into any trouble, or involve other ex Rocks in any trouble, which from experiance from meeting Ex Rocks, and serving Rocks, and organizing reunions from the past, there has been no trouble yet, at the end of the day every Rock to his own, its his life and his money he is spending. After basic training at Swinderby in 1979, arrived at a crap, rainy Darlington Station in November then on to the Depot to do basics with Binder Singh sangera, John Frith, Leroy Hylton, Dave Humphreys another 2 great black lads called Lee & Dave. March 1980 posted to QCS at Uxbridge where i failed miserably & sent like a reject to 51 Sqn at Wittering. Unable to do my 1st NI Tour when I caught Meningitis on leave. Nearly kicked the bucket but returned to work to find I had been put on a charge for leaving my room scruffy while i had been dieing in Hospital!! Stayed with 51 & moved to Catterick after Bishops Court in April 82 with A Flight, really thought we'd get to the falklands but it wasn't to be. June 83 - August 84 received a posting to Greenham Common, had no idea where it was but someone said straight down the M1 so that's where I went. Last posting was CO's driver on 2622 sqn, Lossiemouth with the Auxiliaries, a bit lonely but plenty of skiing & enemy jobs, the life of riley really. Now a simple Copper in Sunderland with a wife & 3 kids, hoping to emigrate to Canada in 2006. It would be great to hear from anyone, still see Andy Bishop at catterick every couple of months though. Any ex 3 Sqn members may remember the "Breakfast Club" at the local Buffs Bar and some of the excellent fund-raising schemes we took part in (like the upside down Xmas party on June 25th). Last I heard of Dave he was planning on moving to Diego Garcia, some USAF base God knows where, he was settling down with wife number 3 and it would be nice to know if he's OK.
