| Comments: | My family and I saw or should I say experienced the eclipse
on Western Beacon S.Devon.Even Though it was over cast and we did not actualy see much,it was an experience I will never forget. We were looking south from where, on a clear day you can see the eddy stone light house, and as it fell dark a cool breeze blew accross the people covered hill that gave me an awesome feeling of my total irellivence within the universe,as a million and ten photographers let rip with camera flashes in the panoramic country side spread bellow us. A truly emence occasion! |

| Comments: | Hi,this is probably a great surprise to have someone react after more than two years. The reason is that I am currenly scanning my fotos to build a searchable database so that I can identify my fotos with my computer in stead of going through boxes and boxes of fots to find the one I am looking for.
we had already made our vacation plans and booked various camp sites for the summer of '99 when I learned about the eclipse. The plans were to first spent some days in Austria and then go to two camp sites in Italy. The site in Austria would have put us right in the centre of totality. But our plans took us out of Austria on August 6th. We then proceded to Venice. On the 11th of august we were visiting the Bienale in Venice. We watched the eclipse from the back balcony of the Italian pavilion. And I was clipping away with my camera having made a make-shift filter from some eclipse sunglasses. After not to long word spread around the pavilion that there were some crazy people looking up at the sun with funny sunglasses. Because it happen at noon (and probably during lunch hour) most of the staff came out to look with us 8-). After the event we went back into the pavilion and we went through the remaining exhibitions which we had not seen yet. In almost every chamber there was someone who thanked us for being there so they were reminded that nature still provides us whith the best shows!! During totality it got noticebly darker and also the shadow were far sharper than in brigth sunligth. There was no noticeble dropp in temperature. After totality and after leavin the Italian pavilion I also took a picture of the shadow of the sun through a tree. The leaves acted as pinhole lenses and projected cresent shaped immages of the waning eclips on the ground. All of this has made me resolve to somehow be in the path of a total eclipse to watch the real event. Thank you for your sharing your emotions and images with us Wildrik |

| Comments: | I live in the States, in Seattle, and traveled to Cornwall
to see the eclipse last year. I stood on a beach in front of St. Michael's Mount in Marazion, and wept as the sky got dark and then light again with no break in the cloud cover. Your story starts off so much like my own, and ends with what I desperately hoped for until the light came back. I'm so glad you folks actually got to see it. And I'm still sad that I didn't. ;-S 2001 in Africa! Jane Hawkins |

| Comments: | Hello! Excellent Eclipse page!
I did not see the solar eclipse. My dad and brother went to Poland to visit our family, and we live in Canada. They got to see 94%. I wish I could go. Here is a picture of them: (Cousin and brother David) http://www.angelfire.com/mn/eclipses/images/David4.jpg If that don't work than its this one: http://www.angelfire.com/mn/eclipses/David4.jpg Anyone see the total lunar eclipse on Jan 20-21? | Comments: | Nice writeup - almost as good as mine :) (but only my club
have read that!) Tried to organise an overnight club 'Run to the Sun' but ended up going alone.(maybe I should wash more often?) Saw the totallity at Newquay despite a bomb alert at the hotel by the beach. Unforgettable. Nobody who didn't see the whole thing can understand the emotional impact it had on me and, from what I heard, those around me. The trip home was great fun - a convoy of bikes overtaking EVERYTHING on the A30 at about 70mph! |

| Comments: | My partner Heather and myself saw it all from Kynance Cove
about a mile from the Lyzard. Incredible sight to understate! We were with a bunch from Derbyshire who were camped near us at the MAG Eclipse Rally, they seemed quite in awe as well. We had a good view through large breaks in the cloud from about 10 minutes before totality through the whole thing. The atmosphere, with loads of groups scattered about the cliffs was almost overwhelming. Did you get loads of flashbulbs going off where you were? For me, I felt privileged to have been one of lucky people in Cornwall who had a virtually uninterupted view. Regards Craig |

| Comments: | Hi. I was lucky enough to see totality from Perranporth in
Cornwall. There was a break in the cloud about 10 minutes before and it stayed. Becuase of some light cloud, there wasn't a huge corona, but I could see the purple and red prominances. I was crying and shaking like a mad woman, (along with everyone else I think). I will never forget it. |

| Comments: | We were at the Black Down Rings high up near Kingsbridge South Devon. We had 3-4 glimpses of the partial eclipse stages through heavy cloud, unfortunately missing out at Totality. It was still amazing, it gradually got noticeably colder with a general dimming of the light levels until a final dramatic drop off to darkness. On the horizons there were thousands of camera flashes and I think Venus came out to say hello. Finally and most dramatically dawn appeared on the horizon to our right with dusk still to our left and then incredibly light levels returned to normal as if someone had just opened the curtains......spontaneous cheering and clapping broke the silence. |

| Comments: | I was in Brixham (more by luck than good management) which meant that I got to see the twenty minutes up to and including totality through thin cloud. The cloud meant that the corona was not visible however, but it was well worth the experience.
Just after totality the sun disappeared into thicker cloud and did not reappear. My tips are Turkey in 2006 and USA in 2017. |

| Comments: | What a surprise to find your site. I was on Castle Hill,
above Port Mellon, around a mile form your site. And you described it just right - though when my friend first spotted the Sun going into eclipse he wasn't quite so polite! We saw a bit of before and after and just caught the diamond ring as it finished, but no corona. Strange how a few hundred yards can make all the difference. Does anyone know how to get copies of the photos taken from the RAF plane, and as seen in all the papers. I'd really like a big shot to frame, since I was there and I'll be past my sell-by date next time round. Cheers Chris |

and only saw the sun directly for about 15 seconds at 11am, but totality was still awesome. We saw stars (planets?) on the horizon and a cock crowed as light returned. Nice to see your photos and videos to see what we missed. Thanks. |
