| Comments: | Just looked through your pages. Good job! I'm nearly 6 years post RNY. I was 5'3" 295 pounds. I lost 140 and have put back on about 25 and really really hate it. This is my summer of committment. I am going to get this off, but I knoiw these will be the tough 25 pounds. My nemisis is the gourmet cheese I developed such a love for because it was "good protein" and that lovely glass or two of wine to go along with the cheese. I have cut my cheese and wine down to 2 or three nights a week and gone back to my salad plate for dinner and make my self leave half of what is served. | Comments: | Hello fellow gastric bypass survivor... I guess I say that with a bit of frustration under my breath... I underwent my surgery in Canada, and truly am grateful to have had that opportunity... but at the time there was absolutely no counseling and after care beyond making sure the wound healed properly. I am so regretful about this state I find myself in. No education has as you might have surmised had disasturous effects on my outcome. I lost 80 pounds, and all the while had the mind set that I was somehow to 'overcome' this change to my body and get back to normal as much as I could manage. I was given two printout sheets of suggested foods and an eating plan, and turned loose upon the world. I still weigh 240ish and am fighting a hernia and constant stomach troubles and am just beginning to figure out that I should have acted and eaten totally different. I really dont know where to turn now. Is there a good place to get information about proper nutrition that you know of? Is there a web-site that I can surf? I have felt like a total failure at this, and having gone thru all the pain and yes suffering, have I totally undone all the good that I can get from this? I guess what I am saying is "HELP!!" Your story is so inspirational. The pictures are great... I would just love to know how you 'got there from here'... |

| Comments: | I am just within the "morbidly obese" range and am considering Bypass surgery. I'm prediabetic, have high blood pressure, high chlorestral and sleep apnea. I only need to lose 75 lbs, but I have no thyroid and dieting is a constant battle. I would love to be thin again, but I know me and eating 1200 calories a day for a period of a couple years - well it just isn't going to happen. I love to cook and food is a big part of my life. I have 3 children, one of which is a chef, the other two are aspiring chefs in their own right and everyday there something happening in my kitchen. Generally what they're cooking is something I can't eat. I just want to be thin and healthy before I hit my 50th birthday, which is only a year and half away. Your site has helped me in my consideration of the surgery. I have my first appt with my dr. this week to discuss the surgery. Thanks! |

Last year during my my senior year of high sool, i was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. i havent been a "skinny-minnie" since i was younger, but up untill senior year, my wieght wasnt that bad. after my surgery, i had MASSIVE weight gain. and i have yet shake the wight, infact, my body wont allow it. iam 5'6 and weigh 275 pounds on a good day. isuppose that i am fortunate though, i only look like i wigh around 200, i carry my wight well, evenly distributed, i suppose. I have a consultation appointment in the next few weeks, and they are going to discuss weather i will havelap band or gaastric bypass. but we are leaning more towards gastric, mostly because the octor thinks i will have a better outcome. I am excited for the new chance at life... but, i am scared as well, im only 18. i have been researching it on line and the fact that i could gain some to all of the weight back is scary... but i cant wait to wake up each day and not be in emotional and physical pain. to go a day without severe pain in my lower back,(ihave a bulged disk from the glorified pouch on my front side, haha)and for my knees to not burn. to have energy and zest for life again, will be amazing.. after surgery and the wight loss i plan to audition for american idol. before my cancer ssurgery, i had a full ride scholorship to a music college in minnesota called bemidji... but i just wanted to say thanks for your pagE and god bless |

| Comments: | Wow - great job! How are you doing now? My husband had a gatric bypass procedure in 1987. He lost 150 LBS and has almost always kept at least 100 LBS off in the last 20 years. He'll start to gain, but gets himself under control. He sill cannot eat enough nutritious food (meats, veggies etc)to gain weight. He gains when he eats junk - he can hold lots of junk food-it goes down so easy. So if he avoids junk he is okay and does not gain. So long term success is possible. I am in a prgram in Rochester NY to prepare for the same type of surgery you had. I am a little nervous and would like to hear from anyone going through this or thinking about it. |

| Comments: | i liked your story you look great.. iv been struggling with this weight for years im around 400lbs 5,ft 7in. i put on a good show telling everyone im ok but im not i hate it.. i eat less than my kids and still i struggle. much as id like to have this surgery i simply cant afford it. my job has insurance but its not real good. we live in low income housing so were not even middle class. any suggestions on how i can get this done with help and where i should look..for help i need it help that is..hope to hear from you .... I had gastric bypass surgery on Sept. 26 "07" and I'm feeling great I've lost just about 50lbs so far and I'm not quite a month out yet. I started at 303lbs. I hope you are still doing good!! | Comments: | IT WAS NICE TO READ YOUR STORY. MY MOTHER HAD GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO. SHE HAS NOT BEEN AS LUCKY, AND WE CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WENT WRONG. What I enjoyed most about your website was your positive attitude. Thanks for sharing such a personal series of events from your life. In addition, the list of "no no" medications was particularly useful to me, when I discovered this list I started taking it to every medical appointment that I have.
