Description:
James made a mistake. Desiree made a decision. Raymond took interest. Tina took action. They all ended up with scars. There is an inevitable conflict between sacred law and moral truth, when real life is a thorn in your side. If love is a battlefield and we all get scars….These were my reminders…my necessary thorns…. Meet Desiree Elizabeth Taylor.

Desiree' Elizabeth Taylor (Desi) is a sexy, smart, and no-nonsense kind of woman. Some would say she is wholesome -- while others would gladly call her a bitch. After years of living the life of the perfect, wife, friend and business savvy know-it-all, Desi had a secret that would destroy everything she'd worked so hard to achieve. The cast of characters in her life are starting to unravel and Desi is losing control fast! Her marriage is on the rocks and her best friend is turning into a spiteful enemy.

What happens when Desiree decides its better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission?

Review (a fair-use review excerpt; the source must be cited):
5.0 out of 5 stars “TNT is a MUST READ!” April 27, 2013
By Richard L. Taylor Jr. Author of “Unashamed: The Process of Reconstruction” (Chicago, IL) – This review is from: Those Necessary Thorns: Desiree Elizabeth Taylor (Meet Desiree Elizabeth Taylor) (Paperback)
“All I can say is WOW! From the perspective of a male who never really reads Adult Fiction, this read was nothing short of spectacular. From start to finish the story of Desiree E. Taylor will have you drop your jaw and yearn for more. This book is truly no-holds-bar, and the story line is incredible. As I read this book I actually felt like I was watching something straight out of a movie. Sabrina has a way of making you feel like you are actually apart of this story. I'm serious when I say I felt my blood pressure rising as the story gets deeper. The traits and characteristics of each character were spot on for the roles that they were playing in this book. TNT is a book that will build you up and keep you up even after you finish reading. Overall I would recommend this read to any and everybody. I can't wait for the Volume! Kudos to Sabrina for her creative and very wild imagination that really brings this book to life!”

“It’s very hard for me to feel wow’d by books because I read so many and 93 [ebook pages] ain’t much! But SHE DID THAT! So what I’m saying is..GET. THE. BOOK. #jesuswantsyouto” ~ Blogger Tori of Glasses & Glitter, via Twitter @GlassNGlitter

It is a journey through the vicissitudes of life, a journey which includes, among many subjects, love, temptation, jealousy, lust, and vengeance. Buckle your seat belts and be warned. Sweet Tea and Cornbread
Inspiring, Motivating and Empowering Black Women
to Take Back Their Bodies and Live a Healthier Lifestyle

By

Karrie Marchbanks

NEW BOOK FOCUSES ON SHIFTING THE PARADIGM OF HEALTH IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY THROUGH HEALTHY LIVING

Charlotte, NC – November 6, 2012 – Finally, a book that connects the dots between the staggering effects of chronic disease in the African American community and the African American culture itself.
“Sweet Tea and Cornbread: Inspiring, Motivating and Empowering Black Women to Take Back Their Bodies and Live a Healthier Lifestyle” was written by local author Karrie Marchbanks. This book dispels the myths, challenges the stereotypes and targets the reasons why black women lead the nation when it comes to chronic disease. “The main goal of this book is to empower black women with the knowledge they need to live a life of health, beyond pills and dieting and help them reconnect with the women they are inside, the women God created,” says Karrie Marchbanks, author of Sweet Tea and Cornbread.
This book is a twenty-one day journey that takes you on a trip back in time to help you discover the roots of why chronic disease disproportionately affects African American women. With humorous, relatable stories, a wealth of practical health information and Christian affirmations this book will transform your mind, body and spirit! It is sure to become the next bestseller.
S.D. Denny, award nominated author, had this to say about the book, “Having grown up in a household with deep southern and soul food roots, myself, I had a special appreciation for the author’s experiences, which were expressed with just the right amount of humor to make this more enjoyable than any self-help book I’ve ever read. This is a must-have book for every black woman’s book shelf!”
Sweet Tea and Cornbread is a book that is long overdue and right on time! It is truly a book that will shift the paradigm of health in the black community forever. You can find the book in print and eBook format on SweetTeaRevolution.com, Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and at your local bookstores.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Karrie Marchbanks learned early in life that success, in any area of life, is determined by the choices we make every day. As a single mother, then living in Pueblo, Colorado, Karrie learned from personal experience that when our bodies are overweight and undernourished, they don’t hesitate to cry out to us in the form of chronic illness. As a result, Karrie learned the keys to a healthier lifestyle, applied it to her life
-MORE-
and felt compelled to share her knowledge with other women along the way. She was later led to write Sweet Tea and Cornbread with hopes of inspiring, motivating and empowering African American women who want to reclaim their bodies and live a healthier lifestyle. Karrie currently lives in North Carolina.

Dear Friend,

My name is Mr. Bertrand E. Brown and I am a former elementary and middle school teacher, author of The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, A Woman's Worth, and currently the co-founder of The Literacy Library, Inc., a non-profit tutorial service which aids underprivileged and at-risk African American teenagers in their attempts to achieve literacy.

At present and because we are a nonprofit organization we tend to rely rather heavily on donations and we would gladly accept any book donations or gift certificate which would aid us in motivating our students to achieve and maintain the pursuit of reading which in turn leads to academic success which we feel is imperative to being a productive and integral member of our society.

At present too many of our children are falling victims to the plague of the streets and crime because they simply don't possess the udimentary skills to be an integral part of our society. Literacy gives them a chance.

Hopefully you can help us in our endeavors with your book donations. The majority of our students are young adults and their interests are varied so any and all genres are welcomed. Many of our young ladies are quite interested in urban fiction which often reflects their lives but any and all genres are welcomed and greatly appreciated. After all our goal is to get them reading and moving in a positive direction.

And with that said I thank you sincerely on behalf of my students, my colleagues, and myself for your time, support and cooperation.

Sincerely yours,

The Literacy Library

I'm new author, (Tony Scott Macauley) I write Christian Fiction. My book is both fiction and non fiction and answers many questions about the Word of God, Christian/Fiction/Historical.

How can I become an author affiliated with your book club or web site?
I have attached the back cover copy.

It's not an inspirational story but more of a bible study. Some of the main topics:
Where do we go when we die?
Is there a difference between saved and born again?
What lessons can we learn from the raising of Lazarus, and the 12 year old girl?
What did Jesus mean when he said... and more.
Thank you

The Revelations of My Mothers presents a powerful story of a remarkable lady who, at fourteen, took some extreme measures to escape a dreadful childhood. The story begins in the early 1900s in southern Alabama. Growing up in southern Alabama in the early twentieth century, fourteen-year-old Rene Carthwright, a resilient young lady with little formal education but the hope and dream that life would be better someplace else, decides to take some extreme measures to escape her dreadful childhood. After an unjustly brutal beating by her ex-con mother—with whom she has only recently been reunited—she decides to run away, leaving behind sad times and a life of abuse. All alone with no specific destination, Rene walks to a nearby town and takes a train north, searching for a better life. Ending up in Youngstown, Ohio, Rene miraculously meets a white lady looking to hire a live-in domestic. As she journeys through life, Rene begins to champion the cause of improving the lives of the less fortunate. The Revelations of My Mothers follows her throughout her life, examining the influences of early childhood problems and the lack of a father figure as she grows up. Heartfelt and sincere, the saga of Rene Carthwright’s life is a story full of mystery, tribulations, humor, and drama.

*Synopsis:
The lifestyle of a naive black male (kayin) is intimately observed as he grows up in red state Oklahoma. For many African Americans the definition of a red state is a place where segregation and inequality continues to be a way of life. As the young man matures into manhood, separate neighborhoods, economic and educational disparities, and the fact that one out of every three black men will end up in prison, are the muted conversations between blacks and whites. This story is about some of the obstacles that have prevented an intimate relationship between blacks and whites since the Civil War. Before the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's it was virtually impossible for African Americans to mingle with, or to join any of white America's social groups. As a teenager the boy desperately desires to have a meaningful relationship with whites, especially the women. But none of the southern-belles seem to be attracted to the tall, handsome black man. Sexually he’s a late bloomer. He’s awkward, excited, overwhelmed and pre-ejaculates on his first sexual encounter. In passionate scenes, he learns the art of love making.

When he’s a Jr. in college he’s profiled and arrested for the possession of crack cocaine. Was he framed? The young man becomes a statistic and is sent to one of the most dangerous prison‘s in the country. He’s exposed to brutal beatings, malicious murders, and terror lives with him at night. Through a series of nightmares he’s transported back in time to actual historical events. The Trail Of Tears, The Fugitive Slave Law, The End Of Reconstruction, The Share-cropping System, Oklahoma’s Land Runs, Oklahoma’s 50 All-Black Towns, Vigilante and police Sanctioned Castrations and Lynchings, The Dread Scott Decision, Oklahoma’s 18 Jim Crow Laws, The 1921 Tulsa Race Riot, and much more…

ForeWord Clarion Reviews:
The narrative swings wildly from a historical document of the struggle of African-Americans against oppression to gynecologically precise descriptions of sex. Bowens' style is creative, and anyone who wonders about black history, the impact of slavery and segregation, or the prison system will find much to learn here.

About the author:
Kenneth Bowens was born in Tulsa Oklahoma. Thirty-four years earlier, in 1921 the most affluent African American community in U.S. history Greenwood's "Black Wall Street" was bombed and destroyed. The National Guard flew airplanes and dropped incendiary devices right down on Black Wall Street. Some folks believed that the fiery explosives were nitroglycerin shells. The Tulsa Police Department united with fifteen thousand white vigilantes and they machined gunned and killed three hundred and maybe as many as three thousand black children, women, and men. They looted and burned fifteen thousand homes, six hundred black businesses, twenty-one black churches, twenty-one black restaurants, thirty black stores, and two black movie theatres. Kenneth lived in Seattle, Washington for fifteen years, where he wrote two plays, and studied improvisation and acting. He's moved back to Oklahoma and lives in Oklahoma City.

Before the civil rights movement of the 1960's it was virtually impossible for African Americans to mingle with, or join any of white America's social groups. Kayin, a naïve twenty-one year old, is attending college in red state Oklahoma. And for many African Americans, the definition for a red state is a place where segregation & inequality continues to be a lifestyle. Kayin, along with his cousin, and his two friends are profiled, and arrested for possession of crack cocaine. Were they framed? One out of every three black males born today will end up doing time in prison. Kayin becomes a statistic. Through a series of nightmares and hallucinations, Kayin is transported to actual historical events. The Trail Of Tears: The Fugitive Slave Law: The end of reconstruction: Oklahoma land runs: 50 all-black town: Illegal castrations and hangings: Jim Crow segregation laws: Attitudes & laws against marriage between blacks & whites: The 1921 Tulsa race riot: And, how do we learn to love each other?

Comments:Title: Return to Your First Love

by Teresa R. Jones

Synopsis: Return to Your First Love is an inspiring true story of biblical
proportions that takes readers on a journey through one woman’s struggles
and resilience to press toward a victorious life which is gained by her
restored intimate walk with God. Readers will discover how God exposes
her
unhealthy relationships and identifies her own destructive behavioral
patterns, which in turn leads to building self-esteem and establishing
productive relationships.

This compelling story tells of the devastating effect of rejection,
persecution and lack of support suffered as a result of being raised in a
dysfunctional family. Her unhealthy relationship with family members
leaves a void in her life and thrust her into irrational behavior with
costly consequences. When she reaches a point that she can take no more,
she cries out to God in repentance, in a pursuit to find understanding and
serenity. She finds it in the comfort of the Savior as she accepts His
view of her circumstances, and finds rest in God’s love.

As readers peruse the pages of this book, they will find that this is the
soul of woman laid bare, an invitation to glimpse the intimate truths and
depths of her life and heart. The soul of this woman grows, evolves and
becoming wise as her life unfolds as she deliberately chooses her path.
With every turn of the page, Return to Your First Love is packed with
intrigue, drama and suspense, while laced with humor. This book is an
inspirational adventure and spiritual journey, with a secular appeal,
which
addresses life challenges often evaded, and affirms to trust in a loving
God.

The author reminds her audience in light of life challenges and
disappointments, the joy of the Lord is our strength. You will laugh and
cry as the author walks you through the pages of her life and shares how
she returns to her first love.

Hello Friend,

My name is Bertrand E. Brown and I am a former elementary, middle school teacher and the author of The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter a novel. Most recently I started the Literacy Library; a free reading tutorial program for so-called at-risk teens.

To make a long story short, it has always been my belief that our children are and have always been more receptive to learning when they have a positive self-image of themselves. And since one of the primary mediums we use to educate our youth is literature we are hoping that you can aid us in our endeavors by sending us any African-American Literature you may have at your disposal which reflects our rather rich and varied culture.

What does that mean you may ask?

Well, I have found that they have rather varied taste and if you like it then I'm sure they will as well. I have students reading everything from Alice Walker to Zane so feel free to send anything and everything you deem enjoyable and inspiring. Believe me we are extremely grateful for all book donations.

If you find it easier to send a gift certificate(s) from Barnes and Nobles or Borders we kindly welcome those as well. Anything to keep them reading and on the road to becoming productive, literate, and competitive members of our society will suffice.

And with that said I thank you for your time, support, and cooperation in our plight to help our youth.

Sincerely yours,
Bertrand E. Brown

After reading "The Maintenance Man" some years ago inspired me to begin writing but 2 years of writers block forced me to become serious about the art and my characters inspired me to finish it. I published "Coincidence" under my publishing company Big Bone Publishing in June of 2007 to a great response. So good a response, that I have begun working on a sequel titled "Comeuppance," which is do out in 2008.

Thanks a million...

I wanted to share an incredible black writer with your book club. David M Humphrey Sr writer of Dark Things -lift every voice, has done it again!
My Secret Heart by Samishii Suzume (a.k.a. David M Humphrey Sr). INCREDIBLE!

(MY REVIEW of)
My Secret Heart by Samishii Suzume

If music soothes the sage beast, then what's to said of poetry?!
What do you give someone you love? How do you express exactly what a friendship means to you?
Put yourself out there, Samishii Suzume author of "My Secret Heart" has. Samishii Suzume's poems penned years ago were then, like fine wine, ripened over time.
My Secret Heart is an incredible collection of Samishii's heart. Poetry for every situation, it's for any and everyone. Not since the classics have I read such marvelous poetry.
Here, I have found perfect symmetry of the heart... such strength. My Secret Heart 's expertly written poems can inspire anyone to boldly share a bit of their own secret heart. Every card you've ever given still pales in comparison to this masterpiece. What is your heart trying to say? Everything you need to express is right here! This truly is a perfect gift for every occasion.
My Secret Heart dares to touch your very core. Dare to read this incredible collection of motion in poetry. Dare to share with the ones you care for, love or have loved and lost.
Dare to delve into the MY SECRET HEART.
My Secret Heart by Samishii Suzume a must have, a must share.... A MUST!

BACK OF THE BOOK......
When one is truly in love, he does not speak merely from his mind-- no matter how clever a thinker he maybe...
One does not speak merely from the lips-- no matter how eloquent a speaker he may be regarded...
When one is truly in love, we find that he never speaks from the mere surface of his soul, but from the very depths of his heart...
What you hold in your hands is not merely a 'book'. What you hold in your hands is the innermost part of a man in love. What you hold in your hands is the deepest part os a soul, drawn from the most earth-shaking time in a man's life. The time when a man bares all, gives all, and dares all-- for love. You hold in your hands the most intimate part of himself that a man can share with a woman. You hold, My Secret Heart...
______________________________
Samishii Suzume as the saying goes, is at once a mystery wrapped in an enigma...
This is his first book of poetry compelled and drawn from poems written over many, many years beginning when he was a teenager. Poetry for him is an extremely personal thing and-- arranged into four 'Halls', like those of a great mansion--he hopes that this window on his heart will be a blessing to others in love...

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Bertrand E. Brown
Now Available Online at Barnes & Nobles andAmazon.com!!!

Sylvia Stanton has to wonder why every other man on campus can appreciate her except for that sorry, no good Chad. After a bad decision on Sylvia's part, Chad is intent on making her pay for her indiscretion. Will Chad's actions on that traumatizing night pave the way for all of Sylvia's future relationships?
They're all the same. The Chads, the Peters, the Williams and now there's Terrance. Sylvia is looking for a man that has some of the same qualities as her father. She isn't looking for drop-dead good looks or money. All she needs to be happy is a good, strong man who is intelligent, who will love her for the woman she is, and with whom she can grow old. After all, there are women who don't have half the charm and good looks that she has, and they're walking around arm in arm with some beautiful brothers. At least that's the way it seems on the outside looking in.
Sylvia would do anything to keep a man happy and satisfied. Yet here she is stuck in Atlanta, still wishing and hoping.
Will she ever find Mr. Right?

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is without a shadow of a doubt the hottest, sexiest, steamiest book of the year...Applause to Mr. Brown on his first effort...BRAVO!!!

New York's Herald Tribune Valerie Jones says,

Finally a strong, positive, depiction of a professional Black woman we can all be proud of...How long has it been?
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is the fast paced story of one woman in search of happiness and despite a successful professional life her social life is often a disaster about to happen...It'll make you laugh. It'll make you cry and when she hits what she thinks is pay dirt; might even make you take a cold shower or two...
If you get a chance GRAB IT!!!
Simply fabulous...Brilliant... and Oh yeah, it's HOT!!!
Anyway there's another book out by the same name so don't make the same mistake I did...Make sure you have the author's name when you order it and I guarantee you'll love it!!!!!

"A SURPRISIGLY GOOD READ!!", June 28, 2006

Reviewer: Syleena Harrington "Candy" (Dallas, Texas) - See all my reviews

Funny thing but there's another book out by the same name and I actually thought I was ordering the other one and although initially I was somewhat disappointed once I read the first couple of pages I really couldn't put it down. I've never heard of this author before but he tells an excellent story and really has his finger on the pulse of what women go through.
The book is fast-paced, taking you over bumps and bruises at breakneck speed and hits some curves that may cause you to take a cold shower or two. Oh yeah, it gets kind of hot and steamy in places!! But I must say that overall it has got to be one of the best books I've read this year despite the ending. Still, I'm betting there's going to be a sequel. And this tiime there will be no mistake about what I order. This guy can write!!! Highly recommend it!

This book is an extraordinary book. It has all of the elements of Zane, Eric Jerome Dickey, and Sista Souljah. It brings all of these romantic elements together to produce a complete and outstanding novel. If you dont have it already its a must-buy!!

“In The Midst of Passion”….

Battling the demons from his past as a contract killer hasn’t been easy, but Alexander Rice is doing his best to triumph. The tall, honey-toned god with the uncommon turquoise stare focuses his energies on tending his duties as publisher of a prominent Charlotte, NC paper. Still, the memories and remorse from his more brutal days continue to haunt him. Alex fears the ghosts will never give him back his life.
Then one evening, he meets Topaz Emerson on a deserted country road and light dawns. Topaz strikes something within the brooding seven foot male. Alex is drawn to her unlike anything or anyone before. Of course he can never entertain a future with the beautiful mechanic. The ghosts have rendered him almost incapable of suppressing his violent tendencies. For Topaz however, Alex is willing to fight. The desire to let go of the anger in his soul begins to overpower his being.
But when a force from his past rears its ugly head, Topaz is threatened. The thing Alex has come to love most could be gone in the blink of an eye. Unless…he kills again.

“A Lover’s Pretense”
The Sequel to “A Lover’s Dream”

Quaysar Ramsey led a love life most men could only dream of. Sadly, the women who fell to his feet and into his bed were unfulfilling substitutes for the woman he wanted most of all. Tykira Lowery had fallen in love with the gorgeous outspoken twin when they were only kids. Unfortunately, Quay’s belief that a love affair with the leggy beauty could threaten her life made any chance for a real relationship a hopeless wish.
Now, at the request of Quay’s twin Quest, Tykira is back in Seattle. Working so closely, becomes a trying feat in more ways than one. With Sera Black’s murderer still running free and more unsettling facts about her death resurfacing, Quay knew Tykira’s safety had to be his top priority. She was off limits. However, his desire for her would make obeying that order an impossible task.
Join in on the second installment of the Ramsey saga which follows Quest and Michaela as they settle into married life and all the changes that life will bring. Discover the man who will intrigue Contessa Warren and, of course, follow Quaysar and Tykira’s intense, roller coaster relationship. We’ll also delve more deeply into the mystery that’s haunted the family for almost 2 decades. Sera Black’s killer will be captured and you will be stunned.

I am sending this e-mail hoping you will circulate it among your book group.

For a few years I have been sending out an e-mail called “the paragraph of the day,” providing examples of fine prose from a variety of sources: novels, letters, histories, periodicals.

The e-mails are sent free. Despite its name, tpotd is only issued on weekdays. There is also a website, www.tpotd.net, that provides an archive.

While many paragraphs are from well-known writers (Jane Austen, Mark Twain, Zora Neale Hurston, e.g.), I make a special effort to send paragraphs from books that used to be widely-read but are not seen so often now, and from contemporary books and articles that might have been missed. For example:

J. Christopher Herold, Love in Five Temperaments (1961)
Andrea Lee, Sarah Phillips (1984)
Carson McCullers, The Member of the Wedding (1946)
William Maxwell, The Outermost Dream (1997)
Lorrie Moore, “Agnes of Iowa,” Granta (1996)

The paragraphs might provide ideas for book group selections.

If people in your book club want to receive paragraphs by e-mail, they can subscribe on the www.tpotd.net site. It’s easy to get off; every e-mail includes an “unsubscribe” button.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

Comments:I am a new author, who has written an excellent book giving props to our African-American men. I have written a story called, Twice Blessed. This follows the life of a man, who has never been in love because he always ran away from love. Finally, he realizes that he can no longer run when he discovers the thing he has been running from presented itself to him a long time ago. This is a story of love, forgiveness and healing. There will be moments when you will laugh and cry.

Comments:Upcoming "That's What You Get For Running With Scissors"

THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR RUNNING WITH SCISSORS are absolutely, truly
fabricated distortions of choices women can make in relationships with
other people (PARTICULARLY MEN). At times, WE, the People (WOMEN), in
order to form a more perfect union of love, create the idea of what WE
(WOMEN) want because of the potential WE (WOMEN) think we see. In fact,
the whole purpose of this book is to make you laugh at how truly
fabulous our (WOMEN) imaginations can go. I mean really, do WE (WOMEN) think
that WE (WOMEN) can change people? The only thing WE (WOMEN) can
change is our underwear and some people (NASTY WOMEN) don't like doing that.
WE (WOMEN) adapt to situations but it does not change who WE (WOMEN)
really are.

The women in each story are people that can be recognized. Either
you are one of the women or you know someone like one of the women.
These women are NOT, I repeat, NOT VICTIMS. They are just people who are
not totally in touch with reality due to temporary insanity caused by
some outside entity that creates the illusion of love. There is no MALE
BASHING in this book. All the men in the book presented themselves with
honesty. They give each woman an opportunity to make mindful choices
about how totally jacked up they are. (was that a male bash? NO!)

Driven by lust and control, each woman forgets the advice given by
our mothers and grandmothers that you CAN really get hurt by running with
scissors. Applied to real life situations and see the warning signs.
And if you still decide to run with scissors, well, then that's what
you get!

Comments: the novel Urban Affair is available now!

For Chance Bates, life doesn’t come with too many certainties. He learned this while growing up in the foster care system, being shifted from one home to the next. What he does know is that only the strong survive, and he is determined to make something of himself and marry the girl of his dreams. His girl, Patrice Trent, teaches Chance that life is wonderful. She should know. She grew up in an upper-class black family where her opportunities have been abundant. But when her family learns that Chance was born to a mother with a severe mental illness, they are determined that Patrice will not taint their bloodline with the likeness of his family’s defective genes. Meanwhile, after spending years in a mental institution and working to get her life together, Chance’s mother Sharon Bates resurfaces to find him just as his life is spiraling out of control. After so many years of not being there for her son, will she now be able to help him, or will her appearance ruin everything he has achieved?

Patrice Trent – She loves a man who doesn’t fit into her social world. Will she bend her world or will it bend her.

Chance Bates - He didn’t fear anything in his thug world. Fear came when he turned his back on the streets and went into her society.

Sharon Bates - She wondered would he keep humping after she stuck the butcher knife in his back.

Urban Affair – it doesn’t get realer than this!

Comments:Hi ,

I'm Paulette and I just wanted to suggest you take a look at an incredible new black writer and his novel. I loved it so much that I submitted a review on amazon.com. I'm so proud to be a black woman. The majority of his characters are black and they're portrayed in a positive light. It's so different from other books I've read (where black people are often stereo typed).

I firmly believe that Mr David M Humphreys Sr will become a house hold name. I also believe that this man and his novel should be reviewed by your magazine. He is a positive role model to all people, but most of all, blacks (Canadian and American.... also world- wide).

I have already given a young black girl his novel, she wants to be a writer. Daniel didn't think there were any black writers out there, now she knows different!
Dark Things is an awesome candidate for your book club. I know your readers will enjoy this book.I also know that they wont be able to put it down.
I've included the review that I submitted to amazon.com on Dark Things. Please read it and if it intrigues you even a little.... then you need to read this book. He's the next Grisham only BETTER!

BOOK REVIEW

Dark Things

- David M. Humphrey Sr.
There are novels that, when you pick them up you can put them down. Where the intention of perusing a few pages before bed is the goal, NOT in this case....

DARK THINGS

is a treat of true delightful excitement and pure adrenaline. From the moment you begin, you are thrown into the very thick of chaos. A whirlwind of drama and mayhem surround you as you learn of the characters plight and names. What seems like a quick intro, is merely a formality... for as the story quickly unfolds your feeling of angst grows.
This is a story unlike any other. It's characters? Humans ... Celestial Angels... Dark things, and the plot, this combination makes for the best incredible read you will ever have!

This is not a book you put down ...UNTIL YOU'RE FINISHED... otherwise you will annoyingly find that, "life" just gets in the way. Many times I found that I couldn't stop reading and when I did... my mind was reeling. Sleep wasn't important, finding out what happened to the characters was.

I was right there.... in the operating room as Virginia barely clung to life, there when Mahatiel was attacked... there when the dark things plotted to steal what didn't belong to them... there as they devoured souls in there path..... there.. NO! It wont do for you to just read the review. This is a novel that has to be read to gain the FULL understanding of what I mean.

It's hard to believe that such an piece of work is the first for David M. Humphrey Sr.

The images and clarity of this work of literary art mandates it be read. I honestly believe that this only the first of many novels to come. In excited anticipation I eagerly await the next installment. As a voracious reader, I have to say that this is a book that all who read will enjoy.

DARK THINGS

will make an incredible movie. It has everything to captivate an audience and MORE! The word is spreading about DARK THINGS.
This is definitely one for your book club(s). So if you've found that your book club is a little drab... in need of some life... this the book.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

"A SURPRISIGLY GOOD READ!!",
December 1, 2005

Reviewer: Syleena Harrington "Candy" (Dallas, Texas) - See all my reviews
Funny thing but there's another book out by the same name and I actually thought I was ordering the other one and although initially I was somewhat disappointed once I read the first couple of pages I really couldn't put it down. I've never heard of this author before but he tells an excellent story and really has his finger on the pulse of what women go through.
The book is fast-paced, taking you over bumps and bruises at breakneck speed and hits some curves that may cause you to take a cold shower or two. Oh yeah, it gets kind of hot and racy in places!! But I must say that overall it has got to be one of the best books I've read this year despite the ending. Still, I'm betting there's going to be a sequel. And this tiime there will be no mistake about what I order. This guy can write!!! Highly recommend it!

The Literary Club forms a network that does just that, and then some. Relationships form and we get the opportunity to learn about some talented Black authors. They are selling books, and I see it as a "win win" situation.
A website that is adult oriented, yet not offensive is vastly welcomed! The Literary Club has accomplished that. Lots of thought processing..not easy. Mylovegarden.com has come up with a simular solution of its own. Senuality in good taste. Classy, yet provocative! Sexy, funny, and thought provoking, these stories are from the male point of view -- but women will enjoy the stories as well.

Scenarios run the gamut from committed, taboo, to unconventional trysts with strangers. You’ll meet a consultant who spends the night in one of Memphis’s more notorious strip clubs in “Ebony Lace”. You’ll witness the battle of the sexes when a woman decides to withhold sex from her man and you see who breaks down first in “Face Off”. Read the hilarious Bad Dick Report from a woman who thought a man she met was the shit but found that he wasn’t in “False Pretenses”. You’ll discover what hyper sexual males do when they wake up one morning and decide that one woman will not be enough in “The Urge”. Euftis gives his readers the best time they will ever have between the pages of a book.
AUTHOR/PERFORMER BIO:

Euftis Emery’s writing has captivated a number of underground fans on the internet. His first volume of short stories, Off the Chain, is as hot as it is controversial. Euftis resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.

REVIEW:

ABSOLUTELY SIZZZZZLING!!!, July 5, 2005
Reviewer: Dana Y. Bowles "DYB" (NewCastle, DE USA) - See all my reviews

This collection of short stories are nothing short of flammable...well-written, funny, and hothothot, fans of erotica will love them all. The constant throughout is Euftis himself, leaving the reader no doubts as to his willingness to explore all things physical....women will love this peek into the mind of a man, in stories told with such wild sexual abandon.....

Fans of the sexy pen, watch out....Euftis Emery is threatening to take the heavy breathing to a whole other level. Read with a lover close by........

DYB

EXCERPT:

This book represents a metamorphosis for me. A metamorphosis of sexual transformation. I have always been a freak. However, my sexuality has always been repressed. Repressed by parents, friends, and lovers. I am no longer repressed. I am no longer bound.

This book contains short stories along the lines of Zanes - Sex Chronicles I and II but told from a male perspective. The stories are based on my life and those of my friends. The stories described in this book are outside of the norm, taboo, off the friggin chain. Prudes, hypocrites, the inhibited, and saved folks need not pick up this book. You will be offended.

This book does not follow a chronological order. I skip around quite a bit. You can read the stories individually or you can attempt to put the jig saw pieces together and read the stories in chronological order. Read the book however you wish. I hope that you enjoy it.

HOT OFF THE PRESS
OCTOBER 1ST!!!
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Bertrand Brown

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is a marvelous and captivating tale of a single black female caught up in the hunt to find a good man. Written in the same high octane vein as Terry McMillan’s, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter moves at breakneck speed weaving in and out of relationships as it embarks on a tumultuous journey that takes the reader on a roller coaster ride from start to finish and leaves them yearning for more.

A tale of a single woman’s quest to find happiness and security with a good strong brother, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter often leads our heroine, Sylvia Stanton confronting many of the problems too many encounter as single Black women. And yet our heroine Sylvia is hardly deterred.

Moving from the small town of Greensboro, North Carolina she opts to try her luck in the fast-paced arena of Atlanta, Georgia where she encounters a variety of misfortunes, some humorous and others simply devastating.

Will she survive in her hunt to find the only thing missing in her life—a good man—or will she fall to the sad reality that a good man is hard to find? One thing’s for sure, whatever the outcome it won’t be for lack of effort on her part.

Hot and steamy, with each scintillating romance there’s enough grimy, sweaty sex to make the most sanctified to consider midnight rendezvous’ or two. BET producer, Dante Feenix calls the book the hottest, sex-filled novel since Zane’s, Afterburn, “Brilliant… A must read…” he commented. And we’re certain that you’ll agree.

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, by first time author Bertrand Brown can be found online and at all major bookstores. In the event that it is sold out it can be ordered at any bookstore using ISBN# 0-595-36178-1.

And now for sure since Mary has went,
a little lamb she has no more.
Mary's Little Lamb has grown up.

Comments:Hello:

My name is Willie Wofford Jr.. I am 52 years old and live in Chicago, and I am making a unique request.

I have written a love story, and while I search for a publishing company that will print my manuscript I also seek your help. I want to send a couple of chapters of my story to you to have my work critiqued.

This story is my first attempt at writing a love story. I am hesitant to identify my work as a romance story, because the storyline does not fall under the definition of the typical romance story.

I have written a story about a woman of strong will who does not let men run over her even though she may become victim of deceitful lovers. The title of my story is Elizabeth Rose.

I am a heterosexual man, and my story reflects my sole opinion of a strong woman who refuses to let emotions dominate her when it pertains to matters of the heart. Yet Elizabeth Rose loves with her heart.

My chapters are brief, and the story moves rapidly. I request permission to transmit a few chapters to you, or to a specific member of your book club, for editorial review.

How Do You find your identify when you don’t know who you are? You don’t…. you let your heart decide.

Thirteen-year old Evelyn gladly helps her friends face life’s challenges, but she secretly can’t understand why she’s not like other girls her age. She constantly battles with her sister and her mother in her struggle to find her identify, and the only person Evelyn can confide in is her best friend May.

When May rejects her because of her new boyfriend, Evelyn is devastated. But when Evelyn and her family move away from Washington DC, Evelyn is afraid she will never see May again.

Years later, Evelyn returns to the DC area, and she finally finds a man who cares for her—but she’s unsure of her true feelings for him. Her relationship with her street-smart friend Six has left her with doubts about her sexuality. If she denies her true self, she will be living a lie. If she embraces her new discovery, it could mean losing the love of both her mother and her new boyfriend. May’s sudden reappearance in her life only serves to confuse Evelyn more. What will her heart decide?
