. . . I was checking out the Shiner beer site. I used to live in Texas, have been to Shiner, the saddle shop, and ate at the Half Moon Saloon. I knew Joe Strauss when I was working at Brazosport Printing in Clute and he was with Palmer Paper Company out of Houston back around 85. . . . I moved to Alaska in early 95 and lived there for 12 years, and I now live in the Philippines in Angeles City on the island of Luzon where Clark airbase used to be. . . . | Comments: | I made a very special trip back to Shiner on the weekend of the church picnic (9/2/07). I brought with me my husband, my inlaws, and two very good friends of the family. My mom was from Shiner, (Gussie Mae Tasler Baumgart,daughter of Frank and Agusta Tasler) and she recently passed away in March. In my memory of 42 years I can't say we missed very many church pinic's or getting to dance and hear the Hobo Band play. You all sounded wonderful, and the bands music and dance hall brought back many a good memory of some very special times and some very special people. And of course...CD's were bought and these East Texans in Nacogdoches are gonna get an ear full! |
