Regarding the ketchup-catsup controversy, I just thought you should know that some subversive catsup diehards put "catsup" as the proper spelling on my fourth-grader's online spelling test last week. Hoping to make a comeback in the next generation, perhaps? Some people just won't give up!

| Comments: | Hi Suzanne
I was woundering if you knew anything about a George Washington "photo" donated to an attorney's office in Chicago in whatever year........dated in 1800-something I think, gift and office stamp on the back? Or do you know where I could go to investigate it? Darla, Thanks for writing, but sorry I don't. Any Washington photo dated 1800-something would be very, very rare as he passed away in 1799 and so probably wasn't available for photos after that year. But don't be disappointed. I was able to come across some interesting other George Washington gift ideas, should you be interested, all readily available at the Mount Vernon Gift Shop. How about a "George Washington Portrait"? This George Washington Presidential Portrait is captured on this light blue color cat's meow wood block for $12.50. A little more than you want to spend? How about "George Washington on Horseback"? For a mere $8.00 you get a portrait of what Thomas Jefferson has called "the best horseman of his age, and the most graceful figure that could be seen on horseback." Like practicality and George? How about the George Washington Bottle Cork for only $6.00. This bottle cork has a pewter bust of George Washington on top. Why spend endless hours searching for an old George Washington item that conceivably doesn't exist when there are so many easy to find items at the gift shop. (Like a GW bobblehead...only $12.00!) - Suz |

My grandfather, Malcolm Paterson, worked in the San Francisco office of Cal Pak starting before the great depression. Cal Pak distributes (distributed) Del Monte products throughout North America. Malcolm traveled from California through the south including Texas, Louisiana, Mississipi, Alabama and Florida each year in January to service Del Monte clients, and I would always receive postcards from various cities. He had a special room at home with rows and rows of Del Monte canned goods. Our families have bought Del Monte catsup and other products for three generations. My own grandchildren now kid me because I still say 'catsup' while they have learned to say 'ketchup'. Is there really hope for 'catsup' supporters? Jim Paterson |

| Comments: | Is it ketchup or catsup?
Ketchup of course! The majority rules where only one word will do! Most foreign languages agree with ketchup except Spanish that even spells it identical to the English catsup. Even where the English spelling isn't used most languages still clearly have the chup or chap sound. Most foreign language dictionaries site catsup as being a US spelling, I wonder what the UK has to say about this? |

| Comments: | As enthusiastic tea drinkers we were delighted to read your page and hencefore we make some additional comments of our own.
Unlike the majority of tea drinkers we have not been drinking since birth but have been awakened to the pleasures, mainly through peer pressure and general curiosity. Tea is best not drunk alone, it is best to share the pleasure, but then it is recommendable to drink from the same teapot to find life long fulfillment. Though it could be said that one should experiment with different varieties and from different pots to appreciate the pot one has. However, please remember to always use a tea bag to avoid leakages. Thank you for your comments, we shall be recommending them to others as guidelines for safe tea drinking. Many thanks and long live tea!!!! |

(Note from Suz: Misyel, a catsuper! And thanks for signing my guestbook! You know, I wouldn't really call it "history". Perhaps "anecdote" or "fairy tale" or even "fabricated twaddle" would be more accurate. But I think "history" only works if its preceded by the word, "made-up".) |

| Comments: | Hi Suse!
I just read your "metric time" piece (time piece - not bad?). V funny. BUT, being a pedantic N. Irish scientist I have to say you are confusing "metric" and "decimal". The metric system has to do with metres, litres and kilogrammes. The decimal system is a system of numbers using the base '10'. BTW, Napoleon brought in a decimal system for time nearly 200 years ago ... (Note from Suz:Hi Dave! Thanks for signing my guest book. I guess being an American who only gets her toes wet in the metric system and considering I am probably your antithesis (an imprecise, recreational writer who relies on her half-baked, hastily thought out notions for ideas), I must concede. It clearly sounds like you have an ounce (or several ounces, or even kilogrammes) more understanding in this matter than me. Have you read my Einstein's Theories yet? Now those are flawless in scientific reasoning...) |

| Comments: | I'm using Genealogy Detective 2000 and came across your Home Page in my search for Plotts, but no luck. You have done a beautiful job.
(*Note from Suz: I had actually been tossing around the idea of having a Plotts Family Tree on Amuse Me Suz, but then I thought, "Sure, then everyone in the world will want their family tree done on my page." Gees, I'm definitely not up to that task. And besides, I don't think I've ever met any Plotts. Still, it would have been great if I had done one.) |

| Comments: | You've got to be an Aquarian. As I clicked from short thought to thought I couldn't help but ponder what might come out of a mating between you and a grown up Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) I enjoyed your sit-down comedy and plan to return to delve into your other writings. There were many references I found strangely synchronistic... co-inky-dinks did abound! Suz -- cute! |

| Comments: | Dear Suz,
I found your webpage quite by accident as I put suzw into a search engine (the handle *I* go by as well) just for the heck of it. Yes, this is what early morning boredom will do for a person. But I have to say that you DO amuse me Suz. Most of us (suz's) ARE quite amusing and interesting so I'm not surprised :) Just thought I'd say Hello and let you know that I found your thoughts and musings really quite.... well.... amusing! :) SuzW |

(*Note from Suz: I'm always happy to support my hoofed animals friends. I've found we really have no need for any irrational fear of them. Granted, sneaking up behind them and banging two pan lids together may cause them to hoof-kick you in the gut with such extraordinary force you'll wonder if you just felt your liver coming up your throat, but that rare incident aside, on the whole I find them to be extremely gentle creatures. Thanks for signing my guestbook!) |

| Comments: | I think that you're page is so funny. How do you come up with his stuff?
(*Note from Suz: I'm surrounded by little gremlins. Two of them, Shelly and Jose, are pretty funny and so I basically bounce ideas off them. If they like the stuff I put it up. The other six are pretty humorless although Anthony is a superb cook. Thanks for signing my guestbook!) |
