| Comments: | I bought this car in May 2010 and the engine was in good condition whilst a reasonable amount of cosmetic work had to be undertaken. Stage 1 - Was cosmetics ie bodywork etc. There was the usual amount of rust (as expected for a car this age but not as much as I expected for a car kept on the coast). Stage 2 - Followed through with the paintwork (stripped everything down (chasis etc great condition, not significant sign of metal fatigue)and replaced window. door, trunk rubbers / seals, then my kitty ran out. Project suspended around four months. In the meanwhile, I was introduced to a W123 crazy mechanic and was impressed with his work so I sent my baby in. ( did some changes, mainly a 4 to 5 speed gearbox and changes the clock gauge to include the rpm gauge. All electricals done and he actually stripped the tail lights and polished them out (fantastic job). Then in September I sent the car in do redo the upholstery to an old chap recommended by my aircon chappie, who also redid my aircon, I wanted some mods done on the blower and airways and to fit another blower in the rear (like the old 108's had) but he told me off and said not to be a pain and although the blower was old and dirty, he stripped,cleaned it off and serviced the motor. The only changes were the cooling coil and compressor (fitted in a japanese unit) and its far far colder than the original. Back to the upholsterer who literally refurbished the whole interior, roof, rear shelf, door panels, carpeting, seats (including the original padding with material almost exactly like the mbtex and the original designs. I was astounded at the detail. (This chap works out of his home). On top of all this, he SOUNDPROOFED the ceiling, floorboard, dashboard and even added additional soundproofing underlay to the carpeting. This is my first w123. I've owned a number of W116's, W124 and W126, and a W108. My only other pride and joy was an old 1979 W116 which was the last run of the 280SE in the 350SEL body.
Today, my to do list is to replace the master brake pump, fuel senders unit and we're off and awayyyyyyyyyyyy. |

| Comments: | This is my second W123 my first was a low km 230E which I sold in a moment of sheer lunacy. My current 280E, I bought from my mechanic after my foray into W114 230's ended in financial tragedy! For some reason she has earned the name Madeline. usually she sits patiently under a cover for me to drive her and when I do its the most relaxing experience. I have had her for 3 years now she smokes a little and has all the creaks and groans of a Mercedes that is not used often. She can be temperamental on days over 27 degrees when the contacts in the ignition barrel separate and all electrical power is lost!! If you let her cool down she will happily start after a little sabbatical and then happily thunder down the freeway at quite ridiculous speeds! It's still hard to believe these are considered an old car!
These cars are indestructible and with a great mechanic can last the distance. I recently bought a kilometer millionaire badge, in readiness for that milestone for my old girl! Though I fear this may take a few generations to achieve! Happy 123'ing all! |

It's strong as a tank ! You will never find a car built this way after this series ! MB called it "The pride of the star"... It's such a good car , it'll do 200km/h just by barely pressing the gas pedal ! and its 23 year old ! and weights over 2 tons !!! And it still is as quiet as the day it was made ! Ah ! and you need not much money to repair it & you can always do it at home ! Just so you know how good this cars are , the suspension still is original ! although recently started to show some minor wear out of some parts ! But I guess that's 0k ! it's 23 years old ! ... tell that to other brand makers and newer cars !... ja ja ja This is one of the best cars ever !!! you'll love it !!! |

| Comments: | I have owned the car since new. It runs perfectly. I have done major engine work at 588,000 miles, and replaced the automatic transmissions at 302,000, and 599,000 miles. The head gasket was seeping at 902,000 miles, and the head was pulled for replacement. The cylinders revealed that the honing marks from the previous assembly were still visible. I change the oil and filter every 2,500 miles, and use a special antiwear and extreme pressure additive that I developed. The car is a daily driver, and I drive approximately 35,000 miles per year. I plan to have 1,000,000 by the end of 2009.

Hi guys, I'm buying a 1980 Mercedez Benz model 200 W123 body in an excellent condition. I test drove it last week and it was in perfect condition. About 15 years ago my dad used to own a 1968 3 cylinder gasoline Mercedes Benz model 200 W115 body but he swap it for a 1990 Nissan Bluebird thinking that it's a better car. But eventually, it turn out that he was wrong and my heart was shattered broken because we just lost a priceless possession. I was about 25 then and now I'm turning 40, working as an operations manager in a hotel here in Cebu City, and it's high time for me to acquire my dream car (Mercedes Benz 200 W123). It all strated as a dream. there are two material things I long for in life. One is to own a Harley Davidson Fatboy Cruiser Big Bike and the Mercedes Benz 200 W123. Eventually I was able to own a Honda Big Bike much like my dream Bike Harley and had my 3rd accident last May 30, 2008. So since i have lived my dream to be a modern day hippee for two and a half years. It's time to buy a car for a change. I almost bought a 1980 1300 Volkswagen in perfect condition with complete functional accessories. But someone else got it and paid the car in cold cash so when I plan to buy it, the owner told me that i was sold. I searched endlessly for another vintage classic car on the local newspaper and on the internet. Then... Whaalaaah!!! I found my dream car for sale for just Php140K. I contacted the owner to set up an appointment to test drive it. I was perfect! I huggled for a cheaper price then he gave it to me for Php120K. At last I finally got my dream come true! Lastly, what I can say is "Don't stop dreaming because it will someday come true!" But if you must dream... make it a Benz! Thanks and GOD SPEED! |

Both of the 300 D Turbos are still going great and almost trouble free over the past 10 years except for minor repairs and upkeep. The 1992 420 SD is a little different story though. It was causing us problems in the electical department for a while but we got that sorted out at long last. (3 alternaters later..!). I will never part with either of my 300 D Turbos.. So smooth. It is in great condition for its age, the two previous owners took good care of it, plan on converting it to run on straight veggie oil. |

The combination of silver paintwork and blue leather is exactly what I was looking for. The engine is a bit thirsty and feels heavy, but is quite powerful, especially on the open road. The soundtrack is the best feature... although muted, it resonates through the whole car and feels alive and solid.

| Comments: | My first mercedes benz. This is a beauty. I paid US$3000 for it. Its a kick start and go that I use to pick up my son from school. Fuel consumption is very good for the age of the car. I do l(one)litre of diesel to 10km. The interior and the trims are still orginal with perforated leather cream seats. Original Becker radio, cassette player with electronic aerial.Carpets still intact. I am thinking of upgrading the wheels to alloy and changing them to 15inch as well as the steering wheel which I feel is too big.
I now understand why these guys at Daimlyer will never make new models in the same mould as they will definetly be out of business. This is a very reliable car that is trouble free. I still get compliments on her and some offers as well |
