| Comments: | Fanny passed late Saturday afternoon. She was 91. The ceremony was beautiul; most of the tribe was there. I remember she once sai, "it's not what you put in, it's what you get out of it." So true. She died on the toilet. I am blessed to have taken a photo with her just hours before her accident. We are going to dedicate next Sunday's mass to her, for those who are attending. For those who can't make it, the family has requeste praying the rosary in lieu of flowers. Fanny would hav wanted it that way. Oh, my sweet, sweet Fanny, you will be dearly missed. |

He is in the Catalpa and Stevensburg areas in the 1870 through 1900 census and he is a shoemaker. He had only one leg and I have been told that he went by "PegLeg". I have also been told that he was known as Old Bill Hansbrough the son of Indian Pete Hansbrough. His son Cooney Hansbrough was written about in the newspaper because he was the only person to greet the President when his train stopped in Culpeper. Cooney's real name was Paul and I believe he is the Paul Hansbrough living as a lodger in the home of Susie Martin and her son Lyle in the 1940 census in Catalpa. If anyone can help me with this line, please email me at 330philly@gmail.com I know that James William Hansbrough was the son of Peter Hansbrough and Sarah Tye Hansbrough. Cathy |

| Comments: | My Grandpappy actually had documents from the IL Regiment. Lost his teeth in the Great War. The documents were seized by the Germans. They thought them to be PRE dated by 150 years or something, maybe. Slavery was distant to him, but he respected President Lincoln, and for that, I remember him fondly. The Culpeper Minute Men (1775), of course pre-Lincoln, were also remembered for gambling, Prostituion rings, etc. Yeah, still trying. Fanny still will not take any phone calls. Leave her to the birds, I say. Right? I by no means perfect, but I do uphold the Standard of the Lord. So we do what we can. | Comments: | Updating previous query on Jacob Kelly and Margaret Gore. I now no longer believe that Margaret is the daughter of Henry Gore, but rather I believe she is his great-niece. She may be the daughter of Reuben Gore, the son of Henry's older sister Mary, who later married a Breedlove. Reuben had a sister, Rachel. Both names appear in Jacob's family, with his first son named Reuben. Does anyone have proof to share that Margaret is Reuben's daughter? |

| Comments: | I am looking for information on JACOB WALL(S) of Culpeper, who was born around 1747. I have land records in 1772 that show his father and mother (FRANCIS AND MARGARET WALLS of Bromfield Parish, Culpeper) gave him 150 acres of land on the Rapahanock River. They also gave his older brother, JAMES, 150 acres. In 1775 JACOB sold the land and then shortly turned up in Wilkes Co NC. He had one son, JOSEPH WALLS who lived his life out in Wilkes NC. JOSEPH'S son, JAMES WALLS, took his wife, MARY MOLLIE PARKS, and moved to Indiana in 1821. They settled in Hendricks Co Indiana and the family remained there. I can find no trace of FRANCIS AND MARGARET WALLS to verify who they are or what happened to them. I also, have found nothing on JACOB'S wife or other children. |

| Comments: | I am a descendant of Reuben B. Overton (1780? VA-1826 KY). My DNA test shows that I am directly connected to the Howerton family. The name Howerton shifted to Overton 1780-1900. Most informal records show Reuben Overton as born in the Richmond area, but I suspect that he was related to the John Howerton>Obadiah Overton/Howerton> Lewis Overton line of Culpeper County. I suspect this because of parallel naming patterns in both families. If anyone has information on this it would be wonderful. Thanks. |

| Comments: | Am hoping someone can help me learn more about Richardsville and Richards Ferry and any of the Richards family associated with this area. I've traced family back to Isaac Richards b. 1774 married Elizabeth Robinson b 1778 in neighboring Orange County. Some tid bits I've come across online suggest the family hails from Culpeper. An article from PA Hist. journal on Owen Richards claims one of his sons, John, and his wife and kids settled in Virginia near the Rappahannock and the town bore his name. Anyway, I have lots of history and photos of Richards from Rockingham County 1800's to present but can't seem to go the other direction. Hope I connect with some cousins out there! |

| Comments: | Researching the Murray and Martha MARTIN family from (primarily) Stevensburg,Culpeper Co. The family was bi-racial with some children later passing as white and others listed as mulatto on censuses. Martha (b. 1825 Va.) lived bore 8 children in Culpeper Co., including Robert L., Georgiana, Larkin W., Peter, James, Susan L., Murray Jr, and Charles. Murray was not listed on censuses with Martha (who was white) and children (and Murray's mother Susan) so I don't know if he was a slave or a free man of color who worked away from home. Their children seem to have become successful in their lives and marriages, with several remaining in Culpeper County, as farmers of their own farms. |

She did not know the name of his wife....then his son William Beazley, she says b. 1757, no death date, and married to Elizabeth Carlton, daughter of Ambrose Carlton..I am not sure this is correct with what I have found on ancestry.com, and I wonder if anyone can help me straighten this out. I have read of land dealings of Ephraim in Culpeper Co, and it looks like he bought a lot of land of and on. Any help here would be appreciated. I live in Keswick, VA, so mnot far from Culpeper. |
