Comments:My Father and i visited Culpeper in 1998 in search of family history. We discovered our great great great grandfather Charles Henson had came from there. He was married to Catherine McAlister. How would we find more about the two families. We really loved visiting there and seeing the country. We live in Western North Carolina and have traced our family from here to there. We have heard that there was a connection with Charles Henson to George Washington and would like to learn more. Also are ther ant Hensons living there now? Thanks

Comments:I have papers that state that Edmund Holmes was born in Culpeper County in 1783 and this his father was from England. Which rules out other older Holmes already in VA being direct descendents (could be cousins, uncles, etc). I have learned there were 5 brothers who came to Culpeper from England and that Jeams (Edmund's father) was born in Staffordshire. I do not have any further back information. So...I am looking! I do know that Edmund married Jane Jones and that they lived in Stafford County where my Simon Peter Holmes was born. They lived in the Edge Hill area. Who the other four brothers are of Jeams are I don't know...nor do I know where they moved to. Therefore, I am requesting information!

Comments: Hello Aftter a few years of not researching I figured I would give it another try as I cannot seem to find anyone that is researching my line throughly. Some just want bits and pieces. I am researching the Powell line from orange county Virgina and the surrounding counties. Orange,Greene,Culpepper,Madison. My GGgrandfather Willis Powell was born in Virgina in 1804 and he married Jane Mariah Harrison in 1829 in Madison County Virgina. I know that he lived in and around Madison County untill about 1838 as they had two children born in Virgina. Permelia Ann B:about 1830 and Eliza Jane B: abt 1838. The reason I sat about is that around 1838 to 1840 the left Va and headed to Missouri. My Great Grandfather was born in Howard county Missouri in 1840. also Fielding Powell Jr came to Missouri around 1845-1846 as he was killed by his brother Willis in a fight which Fielding Had satrted and had gotten the best of my gggrandfather. anyone researching this line contact me at above E-mail. Thank You Craig Powell

Name: Randy Hudson
E-mail address: hudson@comcast.net
Comments:I am looking for the parents of James W Hudson who was born in Culpeper around 1800 and died in Warren County, MO in 1893. I do not know his father's name but his mother was named Anna or Ann. She was born in 1800 and died in Warren County, Missouri in 1881. Her obituary said that she was born in Culpeper and went to Missouri in 1834. Through DNA testing, James can be traced back to Joshua Hudson (1650-1704) in Westmoreland County, VA but I do not know the names of the people in between. James was married, in Missouri, to Eliza B Reynolds who was also from Culpeper. James W had at least two brothers who were also born in Virginia, Alexis Caswell Hudson and Thomas J Hudson.
