My grandparents come from the region. I descend from the Adessa and Della Torre families. My father [Felice Adessa] was born in the U.S., but was taken back to Italy as an infant. His family resided in Palo del Colle from 1913 to 1920. In 1920, they returned to NY.
If anyone can provide information on either family, I would appreciate it. I believe that the Della Torre family may have come from Terlizzi and wonder if Terlizzi is close to Palo del Colle.

My name it's Bert Bunby and I was born in my Grand Fathers house Largo Savioa 10 Terlizzi in 1947. My Father is English and was in Pulia as part of the occupying forces after the war.
My Mother's maiden name is La ' Tegola.
Her Father, my Grandfather were faming people growing olives and grapes,very typical of the area. She came from a large family who are now all very old but they all worked the land, I still have cousins that still do.
I've not been back for some years now however, my sister and brother - in - law have just purchased a house in near by Molfetta. So in the future I hope to visit more often.
I have worked for Kingston University as a scientific glassblower for 35 years.
Would you believe it we have at the moment two people in my department that are doing Phd's. One from Bari the other from Castalana dell Grotte.

Hello,
Your website is very informative and beautifully arranged. I last visited Terlizzi in 1977 and would like to visit again some day. I have been fascinated by the town that bears my name, and where my ancestors originally came from. I'm researching my family history and would like to find out when my family left Terlizzi for northern Puglie and ended up in a small village called Alberona - then finally emigrating to America in 1900. Possibly, some day I will know when and why they left Terlizzi. I apologize for not writing in Italian.
