The night before, Renee Fleming was there for a recital, and Dmitri was sitting in the audience in the row in front of us. Last night, he was fantastic. Such a voice, such warmth, such personality. We had some Rachmaninov songs, Leporello's list aria from Don Giovanni, some Don Carlo, then Rigoletto and the famous, schmaltzy Russian song he does as encores. |
