Comments:Hello,

I've learned so much from this site. My husband and I visited Corfu for a few hours last April, and, well, we fell in love, again!

Over our Christmas vacation this year we'll be traveling to Corfu to have a look in the off-season. My husband will retire next March 2008, and we'll be selling our home in the US and hopefully moving to Corfu after we store what we must back here and figure out the details.

We plan to rent for six months to a year, then if we're still in love, we'll look to buying a house.

Your tips and experiences have helped immensely, and I look forward to seeing more updates.

Again, thanks for a great site!

Comments:Hello,

I've had a wonderful time looking around your website. I'm writing from the BBC arts department. We're coming to Corfu this weekend to film a documentary, and we would love to chat to anyone who has moved from England to Corfu who has a keen interest in Naturalism. I also noticed that you have a link to the Durrell School of Corfu. If can help, by suggesting an amateur naturalist in Corfu, or of course if you have an interest in naturalism I would love to hear from you.

Please e-mail me back if you think you might be able to help.

Many thanks,

Suniti Somaiya

Comments:As a family of four we are very interested in moving and setting a business up in Corfu. We have much to consider, in terms of education for the children, where to stay and where to open a business.

However, I would just like to say, your web site is pretty much the most informative I have come across so far. In 24hrs, I have been able to access so much more information in terms of the links that are provided and have had the confidence to make my initial contact with the Greek embassy.

Thankyou so much and if we do move to Corfu I probably need to get you a pint...lol

Comments:Have recently visited your site as we are thinking of moving within next 6 - 9 months ( South Corfu - St GEORGES ) HAVE YOU ANY COMMENTS ON THAT PARTICULAR PLACE. Been going there for some years & have a few Greek friends there. Congrats on your site - very helpful. We are going over in August to seek out advice/assistance etc from the Greeks on how, where etc to rent a property for life ( I'm retired ) Love the place
Liked your comments on renting, as like most we are not in a position to buy property at present prices & a bit long in the tooth to start renovating etc.

many thanks

I agree with you about the Nurenberg Grill in the Ropa valley.
We know it as Michailis' (i think it is the name of the guy who owns it). We first went there as guests of a greek friend and know go at least once if not more every time we return to Corfu. Never seen a tourist in there. They dont do desserts our friend brought cakes with him no problem.

Comments:We will be in Athens and the Islands from May 18 to May 30, 2006. At the moment, we are undecided which islands to visit. Initially, we are thinking of visiting Mykonos, Santorini, and Crete; however, we are intrigued with Corfu. Travelling by ferry seems to be very time consuming whereas via Olympic Air might be cost prohibitive? Any ideas, suggestions, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Cheers...

Comments:Hi Bob and Tricia: have just found your site and read your "letter from Kefalonia" ! Your trip sounds like it was a ball! I shall definitely have to go there some day and will avoid the car hire Brothers - maybe the Sisters will be kinder!

Congratulations in finding your dream - having travelled in various parts of the Ionian Islands (mainly Zakynthos) for 25 years on and off, I have a strong yearning to end my days there - I think I should have been born in Greece as the "avrio" mentality seems to suit me very well.

Best of luck with building your new home.

We are currently trying to get back from Belfast to Arillas in the spring/early summer - counting the days.

A wonderful 2006 to you both Jeanette

Comments:Hi! What a fantastic site! Thankyou for your time in setting it up! I have just returned from 10 days in Corfu, staying in a wonderful villa in Nissaki. I can not stress enough how much at home I felt here, so much so that I cried the morning of our flight home! To this end we are seriously thinking about moving to Corfu, but am on the first run of the ladder! (hence looking at your site!)It is fair to say that it was humbling to meet such lovely friendly people, so much so I am sometimes ashamed to be british on returning home and faced with rudeness and arrogance. I have chosen the north east of the island or Corfu town itself. Can you advise on where to look for property? I could not find any estate agents?
I am sitting at home and the weather is atrocious outside, rain and severe wind gusts. I want to come back to wonderful Corfu right now!

I write from Australia.
I, my 9 year old son, and my (separated) husband (strange days indeed) are planning to move to greece early next year, with the most likely destination being Corfu. We both love it from different experiences in our lives. I would like the opportunity to talk to someone living there or perhaps also moving there. I'm sure I will have some questions, but will ask them later.

Comments:Hi Bob & Tricia,

Glad to see the site is running well. We commented on your last visitors book prior to visiting Villa Elia at Yaliskari Bay near Agni last July (2004). What a fantastic holiday we had - luxury - and Greek hospitality too at Taverna Nikolas! We have just booked to return in 2006. It can't come quick enough! You tried to find it for us last year, but I think you didn't succeed. It's on the coast road between The White House and the main road in the direction of Agni - four houses together - Villa Lemonia, Portokalia, Karidya and Elia otherwise known as The Orchard for obvious reasons!
Keep Well

Regards

Comments:As the exterior of the old house we have bought to renovate in Agios Martinos is now nearly finished and we are ready to move out on a permanent basis to finish the interior, we were looking at flights/packages to Corfu. The tour operators are fairly bumping them up to the extent that in Scotland it would be possible to get a flight to Australia for not much more than Corfu.

The resorts of Acharavi and Roda are somewhat in the doldrums and have been for the past two years with apartments etc lying empty even in the busy season. Why are the tour operators steering people away from Corfu. I guess Turkey maybe takes a smaller cut than the Greek Islands and obviously it is all about profit for the TAs.
However, my concern is that when they finally get the numbers down enough they will pull many flights out of Corfu which will be detrimental both to the Corfiot economy and also make it difficult for the ex-pats who need to have flights backwards and forwards. At the moment we are severely penalised for being Scottish as we have to pay through the nose (all reasonable prices being allocated from Gatwick Airport).

On a different note. Can anyone give us info in getting satellite television installed. Is it easy, expensive, what is required.

Greetings to all.

Does anyone have any comments on this?

Comments:Just been browsing through your site and rushed to get as much printed off as possible before my computer crashed! The 'quick look' I got was some valuable information! Thankyou. We hope to return to Corfu, specifically Kassiopi later in the year and hope to start searching for some land/property. I'm hoping from the information I've now got in my hands this will become more of a reality than a 'pipe dream'. We'll keep checking back, this is a great site - keep it up! Many thanks again

Comments:I originally came to Corfu three years ago, working as a holiday rep. I found the island absolutely beautiful and the Corfiot people very warm and friendly.
The Corfiot Newspaper is something that I advise all my guests to buy as it is full of news and interesting features as well as hints and tips on all manner of things.
I shall once again and for the fourth year running be working in Corfu and hope that you will all tell your friends and aqaintances what a wonderful island this is. It is the ideal holiday destination for families and couples alike.
We have lost a lot of tourists to countries who do not use the euro but I can assure you that you will get good value for your money here and the warmth and friendliness of the local people is outstanding.
My son came to visit last year along with his wife, father-in-law and my grandson. They were all hardened 'Cost del wherever' holiday people and this was their first visit to Corfu. They said that Paleocastritsa was fantastic and Corfu in general was amazing. They have vowed to visit Corfu on a more regular basis and advocate Corfu to all of their friends.
Come join us in Corfu, buy the Corfiot and have a 'wonderful summer'
Well done to everyone on the Corfiot Team. You do a fantastic job and it is much appreciated.

Comments:My hubby and I moved to Corfu 2 years ago - and I have enjoyed reading your website - thank you :)

I am a freelance writer and my husband Mark writes games for all types of mediums - but mobile phones being predominant at the moment.

I first saw your link on the channel 4 community forums website - my first port of call there being the Big Brother fourm - sorry - it fascinates me as I am an ex psychiatric nurse - enough said :)

I would be interested to talk to you about the legal aspects of buying property/building/renovation/business here in Corfu as I have a lot of research, but not a lot of 'people' based facts. I would like to pick your brains about a few things :)

We also live on the slopes of Pantocrator - temporarily and the house we are renovating is in Ano Korikiana. I have had a love affair with Corfu - since I was around 5 years of age when my parents brought me here for the first time. My parents set up home here for 12 years too - so the island is very close to my heart :)

Sorry for waxing lyrical - again I would love to hear from you both and perhaps gain another perspective of life here - especially the legal aspects - as I have said.

Hope to hear from you
kind regards
Dee
