| Comments: | I forgot to mention in my prior signing that our branch of the Keiths came to Philadelphia in 1703, Martha Keith and her 6 children came on a boat from Derry, Ireland, we have not been able to find anything beyond Martha or what happened to her husband. William Keith, her youngest son, was the man that gave his home to General Washington, Upper Makesfield, PA. That was the turning point of the Revolutionary War as they crossed the river Christmas Eve, suprising the hessians and won that battle. If they had not they would not have gone on as money was tight and the men were so tired. William and his sons fought in that war. One of his son's was Isaac Keith. From there you find the Keiths in Kentucy.......there is a church there built by a Keith in our line. I would love to find my Keith's in KY.

| Comments: | This is a wonderful undertaking. I have found several "cousins" who are decended from the Reverend James Keith. It's interesting to note there is a tremendous amount of confusion as to who the reverend was. Some have him confused with his own son James Parson Keith who, I believe was also a Reverend. Reverend James Keith (Sr shall we say)was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and was married first to Suzanna Edson. There were no children from this match that I can find. He then married the widow of Thomas Williams named Mary whose maiden name is unknown to me.
Rev James Sr. and wife Mary had 3 children, James Parson Keith born Dec. 4th 1669 in America. He married Mary Thayer. James Parson Keith died sometime between 1739 and 1791. A good reference was written by Dr.James Taylor called "The Keiths" published in 1887. I is available online. I've sent emails to a couple of "cousins" now and I've a few more I found here that I will try to contact. | Comments: | The Keith family hails from alley Head and Ft. payne, Al in Dekalb County near sand and Lookout Mountains. My grandfather, John Erby Keith, was born 1903 and died in 1981. His wife was Ruth Scott Keith b 1912. They had 4 sons. I once was told by one of the Scottsboro, AL Keiths that he had traced the Keiths back to a revolutionary war soldier who settled in AL. My great grandfather had died perhaps before 1920 and his wife some later. Neither around when I was born in '48 in Ft. Payne. Grew up in FL and now live in Atlanta. His father, Leslie Raymond Keith (went by the name of Butch), was a great man. I am not sure when he was born but he died while my father was in his late teens. Butch was said to have slipped in his kitchen and hit his head. I have a theory that the free masins (The Knights Templar) intervened after he had passed on a belt buckle ,from them, on to my father. Saw your post on a blog, called "Keith Clan's Dream Book". The Keith Clan except us as Sept, its like being a cousin. If you dont the history of the name Dixson, it comes from the fact Thomas de Keith's father's name was Richard, Dick for short and Thomas was alwys known as 'Dicks-son', or how it was spelt then Dicsoun. His Decendants(thomas) where from then held the surname Dickson, Dixon or Dicsoun, it depended on who was writing the name down and what part of Briten they lived. You are the only one who spell's your last name the same as mine, DIXSON. I'm trying to find a link that conects us directly to them, but the closest historical referance comes from a link to the 'Douglass Clan'. Thomas Dickson son was married to William Douglasses daughter. and they fought side by side in defendeing the independance of Scotland from the English, along with William Wallace and Robert de Bruce. Where was your G-Father from, and do you know anything of your english/scottish history. My G-Parents and ancestors where born in the Bermondsy/Rotherhithe area of London, Then County Surry, and can only trace back so far to 1770, there is evan a roumer that his father may have worked on the building of the "Mayflower". | Comments: | I've gone back to 1835, My great great great grandfather Duncan Keith got married to Mary Campbell on the 25th May 1810, My great great Grandfather was John Keith who I believe was born in 1835, he got married to Clementina McMillan on the 1st June 1862 in Dalry Ayr, my great grandfather Charles Keith was born November 1st 1878 in Paisley and he married Jane Drew on july 1st 1898, they had a baby the following year and called him John sadly he died before he turned 1, Jane had my grandfather John Craig Drew Keith on feb 24th 1910.
John C D Keith got married to his first wife Annie Mullan in paisley in 1936 but remarried in 1947 to my Grandmother Nellie Campbell Beveridge, I have no idea what happened to his first wife but I remember someone saying she had children from a previous marriage, John and Nellie(Ella) had 3 children, first was a little girl called Kay who sadly got run over by a bus when she was 3, then was my uncle Charles, then in 1956 my dad John Craig Drew Keith was born, he got married to my mother Margaret Kennedy, they had 5 children, they had 3 girls then 2 boys. I found out my history upto Duncan and Mary Keith, I can't find Duncan's Birth registered anywhere in Scotland, does anyone share any family with me as I was told Annie Mullan's children moved to The U.S.A they might have gone by the name Keith because of that marriage. |

My cousin seems to know a lot about our family and said that we are decendents of an Adam Keith who had a son named Adam, who had a son, Adam the third. Adam 3 had a son but I don't remember what the name was but somewhere along the line my great grandfather Lester was born. He died around 1947. His son Harold is my grandfather and he was born in 1918. If anyone knows more information and can help me out I would appreciate it VERY much.

I have found in the internet that the Surname Falconer actually belongs to the clan Keith. My wife Mari (nee Falconer) hails from South Africa. We were both born there. I am German born and we now live in Germany where I found all my relatives. We are now looking for the area my wife's relatives come form; but her great grandfather William Moir Falconer went to South-Africa around 1900 and apparently left from Edinburgh by ship. We are now celebrating almost 30 years of marriage and both just passed 50, I would like to take her to the places where her forebares come from at the end of August; our wedding anniversary and her birthday in the same week.
