Comments:Wow! Incredibly detailed and the many excerpts of primary source materials are very helpful to me -- the basics are quite useful to my students who write mythology reports. The photo collection is also remarkable. I do have two suggestions...I know spell check is a real pain in the %*@
when dealing with so many foreign spellings, but I noticed a few boo-boos. Also, I may be asking for the moon (I'm so technologically impaired it's not funny), but often when we print, the right edge of the content is cut off. Could a "print screen" button be installed so that the central content could rearrange itself for printing without the sidebars? (Most of my students don't have computers at home, so we've got to do a lot of printing here at school.)
Thanks again for the AMAZING effort!

I didn't see a contact link, so I wanted to point out a typo in the Fairclough Aeneid text: just after line 14, it should read "oarage of wings," not "orange of wings" ("remigium alarum" 6.19).

Comments:Hi, I would like to know if someone there could help out.
This might sound a bit funny, but last night I had a very intriguing dream.
I have no idea where start from, but this dream made a bit nervous.
I did dream that a goddess warned the human kind that if we would not knowledge the distruction we were causing she would take actions against us.
The dream goes on with massie distrations using a enourmous length of rolling fire, burning everything on its way.
Had many of thos rollig fire in many different locations. The group of people with me new we had to head north, so we did. Once there we could watch from the distance the distruction happening.
At this point had a rolling fire in our direction so we decided to take cover. The place we were soon became unsafe and we started watching things like on a TV set kind of a movie of what would happen to us.
suddenly in front of us a lighting boult signed a symboll on the sky similar to a ( Y )and a furious woman's voice started saying that we were seeds of distruction and she would start teaching us now.
As soon she say the word NOW, a blinking light in front of us uccoured and some small stoned colour people appeared.
They were very serious and cleaning the pathway. They had a kind of a oppened car with boxes inside it.
I was terrified looking one of them, and he/she looked at me very serious for a momment right in my eyes and suddenly changed the expression to calm and smiling at me and said. ( I do'nt want you worry ) so he/she walked toward the car and said everyoen would have to have one of thos boxes.. and i wook up. it was 1:45am.

Guys that so intense that i could not sleep for while and that symbol and everything was so clear in my mind.

Do you guys had heard anything like this?
Have you any kind of knowledge of what happened and the symbols?

well anything would be helpfull for me to understand or even ignore it alltogether.

Thanks for hearing me, I am still a bit funny touched by this dream, hope my english was not so bad to read.

We need greek vase paintings to illustrate an Aristotle's work. We were looking for these precise images, just as they appear in the website (photo montages to display scenes or figures from three dimensional vases on a single plate). I'd bee glad of getting some information at: elena.sanz@arcadia.es. Thank you very much!

Just one small correction: on your front page at the top, you transcribe the English "heroes" as "heroi" [sic] in Greek but in fact the word is the same in Greek: English "heroes" is actually "heroes" too in Greek.

thanks for all your hard work!

Comments:On the site’s Pantheon page, the fifth category refers to the 12 Olympian Gods but lists 13. Who is the extra god? Not Hestia, the last name on the list. The 13th is Dionysos, a late import to the Olympian pantheon. Yet on the main page of the site, Dionysos is listed in the table of Greek and Roman Names I, and Hestia is not. She is relegated to the second table, with other “functionaries and minions.” This is not correct. Hestia is one of the original 12 Olympians, the first born child of Kronos and Rhea, and sister to Zeus, Hera, et al. Why does the main page demote her?

Comments:Greetings!

I've been reading about Corinthian black-figure vases and there are some obscure "fabulous beasts" on them that aren't on Theoi. Like the Hippalektryon I don't think anything was written about them, also I don't know whether you have access to pictures of the vases. But I figure it is worth to mention them:

Winged panthers and winged lions
Panther-Birds (birds with the head of a lioness or leopard)
Lion-Birds (birds with the head of a male lion)
Male Sirens (bearded)
Griffin-Birds (birds with the head of a griffin, distinguished by long ears and horns)

Comments:When reading Strabo Geography 14.2.19 and looking at the Theoi Project for "Drekanon", I`ve found out that there`s a wrong comment given by you (in brackets), as for the localisation of the cult of Aphrodite, as well as Asklepieion with respect to "the city" in your pages. "Polis" (the City) may mean only the capital of the whole island not the little village of Stamnalimne.
Otherwise; accept my congratulations for your splendid collection of antique literature.

Comments:FIRST I WANT TO CONGRATULATE YOU FOR THE SITE.
I THINK THERE IS A MISTAKE IN THE OLYMPIAN GODS.
DIONYSOS AFTER HIS DEATH BECAME AN OLYMPIAN GOD.
IN THE CLASSICAL TWELVE YOU SHOULD INCLUDE HESTIA.
THE TWELVE OLYMPIANS WAS SIX MALE AND SIX FEMALE.
THANK YOU

Comments: I love this Website! It has most of the information I need all in one place. Thanks foe layers upon layers of information.
One thing, however, please finish the myth sections on the major Gods a.s.a.p. I realize that I can find this information elsewhere but I've come to depend on your Website fo my research because all the other information is so wonderfully cateloged.
Thanks for the beautiful works of art, particularly the cult statues.

Comments:Hi folks,
I was looking at
http://theoi.com/Daimon/Eusebia.html

Which mentions the following passage:
Euenus, Fragment 6 (trans. Gerber, Vol. Greek Elegiac) (Greek elegy C6th B.C.) :
"Drinking [moderately] is beneficial for body, mind and property. It is well suited to the deeds of Aphrodite and to sleep, a haven from toils, and to Hygeia (Health), most pleasing of the gods to mortals, and to Eusebia (Piety), the neighbour of Sophrosyne (Discretion)."

But looking at Gerber's _Greek Elegiac_, I'm not able to find that section. I find Euenus just fine, but in my copy, Fragment #6 reads like this:

Plutarch, on affection for offspring:
"As a result this alone of Euenus is praised and remembered, when her wrote: For the father a child is a constant source either of fear or of grief." (p451 of the Loeb Classical Library edition).
Can you point me to where your quote comes from?

Thanks
Ken

Comments:Your website helped when I wrote a paper about Minoan religion this term. I was able to use the site as a shortcut so that i did not have to go back through every book and the dozens of articles about me for every last reference and detail. Your format is really great! I enjoy being able to see what Classical or pre-Classical writers said, book, line, etc. It has helped me greatly. I received an "A" on my paper. Thank you!

Comments:The new pages about mythical locations is a great idea!

Is this an appropriate way to mention a few typos I found in the bibliographies?

*Persephone, Goddess Of page lists as a source “Homer, Virgil - Greek Epic” which appears to imply Virgil is Greek
*Persephone, Goddess Of page lists Lasus as Lyric II, but elsewhere Lasus is listed as Lyric III
*Elder Mousai page lists Praxilla as Lyric II, but the Leto page list Praxilla under Lyric IV
*Corinna is listed as Lyric I on some pages and as Lyric IV on other pages (or were there two different writers named Corinna?)

Anyway, just pointing out something I hope is helpful. Please keep up the wonderful work!
