On January 15, 1998 I signed your guestbook. I had reunited with my son and wanted to encourage all mothers and adoptee's to search, find, and know the truth of your birth. Since reuniting my life has changed so much. I have grown and learned so much thanks to my sisters who have walked the same path as myself.Together we are making a difference, letting others know we did not willing surrender our babies. Those that should have stuck by us turned their backs on us. They know who they are and hopefully one day they can admit what they did was wrong. I as a mother deserved to be with my baby, I should have saw his precious face at birth, been able to hold his tiny body, and given him the loved he deserved from his me his mother. He left me and I was only 16. I loved you very much but my mom and family decided I should give you to a family who could give you the love of both a mom and dad. I never wanted to give you up. In those days people looked on an unwed mother as a terrible person. I didn't care what they thought but my family did and I didn't have the education and means to give you the things you needed. All I could give was love. You were born in April of 1960 I'm sure around the 23th. I named you Wayne. I was not allowed to hold you and it broke my heart to just be able to see you thru the glass. I found out over the phone that my first born child was killed in a jeep rollover in 1998. I think birth mothers should be notified if their child is killed or dies, it need to be made into a law. I have began my search, so I can have closure on his death and met his brother my 2nd son. I pray for them daily, and hope to find him soon and find out where my son is buried Thanks |

Although the pain of losing a child is still with me, i would greatly encourage open adoption. It is a tremendous help for me, the parents, and eventually my son too. After his birth I learned he had inherited a genetic disorder (ectodermal dysplasia), causing secondary deformities, 6 digits and cleft lip & Palet ...at that time ini 1970-71 I thought it was the best thing as it was a date rape, but after becoming a Christian it woke me up to what i had done, I made the wrong decision and now regret it ...I want to find him and let him know that I always really loved him ..I know God has forgiven me and if he is searching and finds any of my Registration I hope he will forgive me too! One imp. thing I want him to know is that I never gave him up because of birthdefects!

took her right after I gave birth. Sarah Ashley was the name I gave her, Ashley Lousie is what Susan named her. I have Cerebal Palsy, but am very strong-willed. My mother is very ashamed of me. Sarah Ashley will be 18 August 3. She is going away to college. I tried telling her the truth however, my mother got on the phone and called me a liar. The three worst swear words are Black Market Adoptee. We have NO way of knowing who we are, where we come from, or where we belong. We live with lies, false paperwork, and no way to find the truth. I'm a 40 yr old woman with just this problem. My DOB is Feb 17,1961, so it says on my false BC. The clues to my life are as follow. I was adopted out of lawyers office on around Feb 23,1961. The lawyer was Mr. John Cenesky, still living, but he will not help me in anyway, Clue 1. Was told by family that one day I was just there, no one knew about my Aparents adopting another child,Clue 2. I have an older adopted brother by three years and all of the family know about him and where he came from,Clue 3.No paper work to be found on my adoption anywhere in my Aparents home, but everything is there for my brother, Clue 4.My aparents had just lost their only child in birth in Nov,1960, they were in their 40's when they got me,Clue 5. I have filed every paper one can with NY State and nothing there, but false BC, Clue 6. Facts that I do know, was adopted in upstate NY, adoption was final on March 1962. I was told by family I was a small baby with blondie hair and blue eyes. The all american baby. Now at 40 I have lite brown hair and hazel eyes, stand 5/2 and have to wear glasses due to lazy eye. My Amother has passed, but my Afather tells me that my Bmother was around 17 and was to be of Irish desent. Of course I have nothing to back this up. But the final comment that told me that I'm not a legal adoptee. My Afather said one day that he had paid enough for me the first time. I have no way of knowing what happen at the time of my birth. Maybe my bmother was told I had major health problems, maybe it was arranged though a family member of hers, she may have been told that I dead at birth. So many horror stories to be told. But if your out there I'm looking for you, not to hurt or blame you, just missing that piece of my heart. If I was told by one person that I could make it in life on my own or had a little confidence in myself I know things would be different. The attorney that did the adoption and the birth parents both told me how brave I was and how it took raw courage to make that decision. Only to find out 7 years later that they were wrong and my decision was made on fear, lack of confidence in myself and the lies that were put in my mind as a child and growing up. I did not know the facts. I should have known the facts. I was raised thinking I was nothing and a nobody. I know now that I am a somebody, I am a child of God and I can do anything I want to do in this life. It isn't always easy but very possible. I was taken advantage of by that attorney and those people that my children call mom and dad. I had something they both wanted and they made me think and feel like this was the right thing, they made me feel like I was nothing. Yes it was the right thing, the right thing for the couple who could not have children and it was the right thing for their lawers bank account. |

My husband and I adopted a child that we love dearly and with all our hearts. I read some of the other entries in your book, and to be honest I did let alittle upset. I know it has to be hard for a 'birth-mother' to give up her child for adoption. But there are good people out there who for one reason or another were unable(like myself)to have a child of our own flesh and blood. I am sure that not all adoptive children have that 'good life' and that is sad, truely sad. Then there are parents like myself and my husband who love OUR baby more than simple words can explain. There is nothing that I wouldnt do for my child. And yes we have a closed adoption, I wouldnt want it any other way. My reasons are simple... the 'birth-mother' gave up her child, and we took this beautiful child in our hearts and home as our own. We DID NOT want her to change her mind and decided that she will drive by, stalk, or kidnap our child. When the time is right we will tell our child the truth about how he came into our lives, and that there is a very special woman out there who loved him enough to give him a better live than she had or could provide for him. Some will think that we have made the wrong choice in doing this, but I truely believe that its the best way for all concerned. Try to look through your pain and see the other Mommy's point of view. and pregnant. I had never been away from my family. I was the youngest there--there, being Methodist Home Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana. Four days after my 16th birthday, I gave birth to the most beautiful, pink, round, little baby girl. When I had her christined, I promised her with my life that we would be together again. That promise was fulfilled July 1996. On her birthday, I heard her voice for the first time. I fell in love with her all over again. She has brought peace to me at last. All of the guilt, all of the questions unanswered, all of the night torments of not knowing where she was, if she lived, if she was warm, dry and safe------all are now put to rest. We talk frequently, and e-mail each other. She has 2 half brothers who adore her and a "nother mother" who is estatic. We are friends. That was my hearts desire, to be her friend. I believe I too spent some time in a home or orphanage, I was adopted at 3 1/2 years of age. And was also abused horribly my whole life. I am now 44 and still suffering greatly.
