| Comments: | Hello everyone. I and many other students were the first enrolled when the school opened in about 1946. To set matters straight, Mary Sager (nee Quinlan) was hired to come down and be principal of the new school when it was situated at the foot of Calle Las Damas in a converted truck repair garage depot. The founders purchased the site. The repair bays became open air classrooms and students rotated intstruction in Spanish or English morning and afternoon.
I find it sad that the "history" of the school and foundation is entirely lost as my parents and another eight families founded the school and none of them are mentioned. Tom in Canada Tom |

| Comments: | I went to school there for just the eighth grade in 1974. I know Barb, Akim, and a few others. We lived outside Tegucigalpa so we did not know to many folks. I had a good time in Mr. Fosters geometry class. I was in band and learned how to type on an Underwood manual typewriter. Still using the skills today. I now live in Texas and would like to hear from anyone who remembers folks in that class. |

| Comments: | How nice to find this page! I attended in 1974-1976 and lived in Las Lomas - living in Tegucigalpa were some of the best times (we lived at the discos - Red Baron?!) and everyone was so nice! Some of my classmates were Mireya Batres, Pina Bendana, Liz Lima and Alina Morales - if anyone is reading this, find me on Facebook! Cherie Rivera was my neighbor, I adored Mario Valenzuela (he was hilarious) Akim Reynolds actually found me about 2 years ago! Mr. Pinel taught math at the time . . .I remember pan con frijoles in the little cafeteria and ordering "una uva" . . . everyone hung out with everyone - 8th, 9th, 10th graders all together. I wish everyone the best and hope everyone out there has great memories of the American School. |

Didi Lima had used the book! I was so shocked as we had been classmates in the 60's in Tegucigalpa. I have so many pictures of the 70/71 class reunion held in 1996. Somehow I will figure how to post them! In the meantime, would love to keep in touch. Can always email me at MsSharman@aol.com.

My brother Mike Ballin also went to school with me...he was a couple of years older than me. If anybody remembers me just drop me an email...I would love to "talk". My brother has passed away, but is with me in my heart. Names that I remember are Eloisa Gammundi (sp?) ummmm Randy Sanchez and his sister (Dad was the ambassador at that time)...Jon Davis...Regina Bacerra...I have my yearbook and would have to search for it. Anyways...I would love to hear from anybody that I went to school with...and ditched PE with! Hated that class. YOGA..boringggggg. |

| Comments: | How can I pass this opportunity to say hello to you all. Incredible how time has passed. Yet, I still can remember the smell of the bus that took me back and from school. The classes. The uniforms. Playing soccer in the back of the school. The birthday parties and parties. And more importantly, the friendships that were made. Regretfully I was not able to finish the race, but left in my 9th grade. Parents had the brilliant idea to move to Dallas. For all the things that could be better in Tegucigalpa, there is nothing that I would change about the memories and experiences from there. God blessed me with the opportunity to live an abundant life down there. Abundant in the sense of friendships, experiences, and sense of pride. Everyone knew everyone in one way or another. Directly or indirectly. If you did not know that person, just ask enough questions, and you would find a frienship in common. Perhaps why this webpage is so important. Because we all experienced something that now forever connects us. And this experience is called la Escuela Americana. Que viva la promocion del '86! |

Worth. My younger brother, Ricky Coffey, was 1 year younger than I. He passed away in 1979. My older brother, Steve Church lives in Sherman, Texas. My first exposure to Spanish of which I am forever gratefull. My first crush, Nancy Milner. Other memories include socer and baseball. Remember the school exactly as shown in the pic. We always picked up rocks during breaks. Oh, and the daddy long leg insects. Thousands of them in large balls clustered in the corner of the outdoor hallways. Rambling here but thoughts of those days. Good thoughts. Hope to hear from some of you. :-) |

The reason I write now is that I just finished scanning a bunch of ancient color slides of Honduras and put a few of those photos on the web, including one of the kids at the American school in 1954. If you're interested in seeing the old Honduras -- shots of Tegucigalpa, Ceiba, Tela, Cortes, San Lorenzo, etc. Give it a look. The URL is http://www.groveton.com/honduras/
I'm afraid I've lost touch with everybody from the American School except my brother Paul and sister Mary, but I'd love to hear from anyone who was there in my day. Haven't led a terribly exciting life. Spent most of my working years as a chemist in industry and government, wrote a few environmental regulations, a few books and a few commercial web sites. Still do the books and the occasional web site. |

Lived and worked there for many years until recently when I moved to Castroville, Texas. Living and working in the USA has many advantages, but I do miss Honduras, my dear friends, and its simplistic but tasty food.
While reading some of the comments in this Dreambook, I came accross some familiar American School names. Mr. Briece was also my music teacher and a fantastic one at that. I do also have fond memories of Miss Judy Stock (English teacher). I remember Didi Lima from school. Claudia Romero Mendez passed away a few years back. Her sister Dinorah is married with children. | Comments: | So glad I found this site. Attended Escuela American from 3rd to 7th grade, 08/71 thru 08/76. Still view that time period as the best of my educational years and one of the better of my life. Needless to say, I was devastated to leave and the culture shock upon returning to the states was severe. For me, Tegu will always be home.
It would be good to hear from classmates especially those who left prior to graduating like myself. If anyone has info on Richard Ebert (or the Ebert Clan), Jose Francisco Nunez or Laura Atkinson let me know. Richard moved back to Virginia in '76 but, I lost track of him. If in Chicago, look me up...I'm in the phone book |
