When I went to this school back in 1960-61, it was still called El Antiguo Colegio Americano and I think we were the first ones to occupy the new facility at Colomo 2100. There was an office and two parallel classroom buildings and a tiny library. There were no cafeteria, auditorium, gymnasium, etc. The director was J.C. Holmdahl and my sophomore class was the largest high school class with 13 students. Senior class was only two: Stephanie and Krieg.
Oh lord, we had SO MUCH FUN there! That was truly a magical year. I'm glad that the school is still in existence and I hope kids now love it as much. Is there anybody out there as old as me that remembers back when....???? I'd love to hear from you. |

| Comments: | Hello everyone.Funny how memories come rushing back.The school,the teachers,the classmates,the freinds.The way it was back then.The parties,the long intense talks.Life goes on but i am sure most of us remember most,when we ended up at this school and how it changed us forever.Some complained about wanting to go home,little did we know that we would always from that moment on refer to this place as home away from home.I am sure that not a day goes by that we are not caught thinking about a certain moment of the time we spent here .I was a student at the school till '83. | Comments: | Hi everyone! Just wanted you to know that I went to the American School just last week to meet with Peach Madrigal - the admission person. She is great! She has old year books in her office -and I immediately wanted to brag about being the most humorous back in 1968 but found that someone had ripped out the page! I understand that Hector Orendain who was funny right along with me - lives over in Asia somewhere...some type of guru?? Something like that!
The school is just jammed packed! There is almost no space in any of the years - making it difficult for all! There is also horrible construction going over there - off the Glorieta de Colon -they are redoing that whole thing - so traffic is baaaaddddd....They changed the circunvalacion of Colomos - so you have to do this round about thing - a mess. But hopefully it will be over soon!! Just wanted to say hi!! I think there is some big reunion coming up!! Any news anyone?? |

I attended AFSG in 1990, while my siblings John and Dee Dee both graduated in 95. So anyone from that era who remembers us, feel free to drop me line. I really enjoyed my time in Guad and miss it a lot....my folks live in Bucerias now, so nowadys we just pass through Guad on the way to the beach. I have many memories of seeing the following places with ASFG folk: Ricks, The Gallery, Pistachio's, Bar Zelona, Canta Bar, senior party at Dady O.....ASOMEX trips to DF and Monterrey....various trips to PV....I think I damaged way too many brain cells at these places and events, but ah, the memories. |

It's about time someone said those things both about the quality of our school internationally and the fact that "somos todos americanos." I also liked his alternative to war and the fact that the best weapon against terrorism is international education. Kurt Landgraf , CEO of ETS said the same thing in a recent Harpers. She graduated from ASG in 1966 and moved back to the Atlanta area with her family that summer. We lost contact in fall 1968. We wrote each other regularly during that period, and got together in those summers in either Guadalajara or Atlanta. If anyone out there has any news of her, please post a reply? |

| Comments: | Just thinking about how small a world it is. I was at the American school eight years ago and when I came back to visit last year I discovered there was a lecture by Noam Chomsky at the U de G, so I attended. Ran into Dr. Michael Hogan there from ASFG and we talked a bit and then Chomsky came over to join us. Seems he and Hogan have been friends for a while. Then, this year, I ran into Dr. Hogan again where he was giving an evening lecture on American Foreign Relations at the Autonoma. I was really amazed so see the level of discussion and the quality of intellectuals that Guadalajara has drawn over the years and to know that ASFG is at the center. Keep up the great work,folks! |
