| Comments: | Just ran across your site, and it is pretty good. I also have ties to Tishomingo Co., MS. My Great Great Grandfather was James A. Allen, son of Alexander M. Allen, son of Betsy Love Allen & daughter of Susie Colbert, daughter of James Logan Colbert. I live here in Ms., Madison Co., and my Sister & myself come up there to Monroe Co., where James A. Allen's daughter & her husband is buried, at least once a year to put flowers on the grave. Do you have any idea, where the Colbert's are buried? or Betsy Love Allen? I have met some other Paces and according to oral history the are Native American Indians (possibly Cherokee from Georgia) that took the surname of an Englishman named Pace. The pronounced the name as if the "C" was hard (like K) and the "E" was a long "A". I would be interested in communicating with anyone who might have information about this. |

Kirk-Pace and their5 PACE Children. Wyche H. Pace used "Wicke" Pace on marriage certiicate when he married Matilda in Oct. 1836 in Hardeman Co., TN. when they got married. Wyche H. Pace died in probably Carroll Co., Ms. in 1851. That is where he was in 1850. Matilda, his wife, brought the 5 PACE kids to Franklin and Winston Co., AL and the last child born was Lewis C. (Cullen) Pace, b. 1848, and he was my G granfather who married Mary Jane Benson. She was on the Cherokee Indian Rolls, BUT, I am told the Cherokee Indian Nation turned down her application. BUT, her father, Daniel (Jack) Benson and Grandfather- John Benson are still on the rolls, buut not accepted.
Could you tell me what cities are in Carroll Co., Ms? My map doesn't show them or much of anything. I think Wyche H. Pace ws buried there, but bown 1817 in TN, probably Haywood or Hickman County, but I can't find where he is buried. Any help would be appreciated with this. I received copies of photos taken of some of their tombstones out at Old Mackey's Creek Cemetery. I am sure there are still plenty of "live" kinfolk there but just haven't made any connections with any as of yet. Good luck on the site & I have bookmarked it for future reference...
