Comments:Good afternoon past shipmates and fellow reunion attendees. Haven't been hearing much from anyone but would like to thank Bill, Phil and Dave for their reunion emails. Tomorrow, we will be down to 110 days until the reunion. Reservations have slowly been coming in but lets see if we can't pick up the pace. I feel theres no reason to wait and it would surely make it easier for me to book the buses for our trip to Mt. Rushmore and other places of interst plus for our banquet. For those who still aren't sure make your reservations and you still have until the last 24hrs. to cancel. South Dakota should be beautiful this fall cause we have been receiving more than our normal amount of rainfall thus we should be green instead of our normally brown and dry. Have been in contact with a bus company and should be booking their services in the near future. Now all we need some numbers to make the orders. We all looking forward to seeing everyone in Oct.

Comments:Shitpates> Getting close to that time of the year that a lot of us look forward to seeing come around once a year. That time that I am taking about is "REUNION TIME" and it is creeping up on us very fast. I do not know why no one is getting fired up about it like we did in the past. We need to get that Terrell County Spirit going once again . We need to get that Terrell County blood running through our veins once again and we all have to start communicating through our web sites once again. Whether its signing on the TC guestbook or signing on the Yahoo webiste, it s does not matter which one but lets get that reunion spirit going once again. Keith and Barb Senska have worked very hard and diligently to get us some great hotel rrooms at some great prices for this coming year. They got us some great tours lined up one of the being Mt. Roushmore. I went there last year and I want to tell everyone of you that has never seen this sight you, do not know what you are missing out on. Truly a magnificent marvil made by some unbelievable stone cutters. Pictures from books do not do it any justice. Standing in front and underneath these carvings of 4 of our past presidents will make the hair stand on the back of your necks, one of the true marvels of the world and its there for the seeing if you get to come to South Dakota this year. The black hills that surround the Monument are truly beautiful along with the needles, long like mountainous projections that shoot up into the sky and they look like needles. The country side is beautiful and you will be able to take some beautiful pictures. I realize that there is a lot of news in this country that has people down, the stockmarket plunge, the Big 3 auto makers declairing bankruptcy, the major airlines failing, the big banks taking a dive, etc. We all need something to boost all of our spirits once again. We all need a good high. We shipmates, I can tell you how to get that all time ruch that we all need. Come to this years reunion, see and talk to your fellow shipmates that you went to war with. Share pictures and stories of what we did together 40 years ago in a war zone. Share the stories of what we did on liberty. Share all of our sea stories including the Typhoons that we all shared together and maricoulously got out of alive. And get to meet all of the lovely and loyal wives of the shipmates of the Terrell County. You cannot get a better feeling for yourself than that, if you do not believe me , come see for yourself this third week in October in Lead South Dakota. Lets get that Terrell County Buzz going. Start communicating, start calling your fellow shipmates and telling them about the upcoming reunion. And most of all , lets all make plans on being there this year. Like most of my emails, I made this one short and sweet. Phil BM3

If you haven't made your plans please do so. Theres only 137 days until the reunion, tomorrow. The reunions thus far have been great and will continue to be the same expecially if you are present. Without being there you'll never know the excitement you have missed. Secondingly, I would wish more of us would take a little time and check in on the this web site or the Yahoo site or the Yokosuka site and keep everyone posted as to what your up to, etc. Maybe your life seems boring but to others it may just be exciting. Thanks to all and see you in Lead in October.

Thanks for your kind words. It nice to hear to from someone who served aboard our LST's after the US Navy decommissioned them. Even though many had a date with Davey Jones' locker it's nice to know they were in good hands to the end.

Comments:Hello from Greece,
I' m glad to see this site. Being a member of a ship, makes you feel about that ship, just like as you feel about your home.
I served in 1996 at HS Oinoussai L-104 (sounds Inouse), former USS Terrell County (LST-1157). She was a great ship, and even the so many years, HS Oinoussai L-104 was ready for any mission. All these LSTs had offer great service at the Hellenic Navy. (LST-1157 , LST-1169 and many others which were TYPE II LSTs). Of course all of them have been decommissioned.
As about HS Oinoussai L-104: the ship was decommissioned by the Hellenic Navy 20 March 2003.
Unfortunatelly, she had a bad end : sunk as a target, 5 Oct 2007, during Educational shots in Crete by the Hellenic Navy. We felt awful that day, reading the announcement...
Hope you keep on being together and seeing each other. Have a nice time.
Gregory, Greece

PS. sorry about my english. when you don't speak a language, it's difficult to keep it "fresh"...

Since my last post on this site we have gained Gordon Thomas, Sheldon Knapp, Leroy Duncan, Luis Mendoila, William Porter, Gary Sloop and Al DeRosia. I hope theres more and the resort just hasn't sent me the names but whatever. As I hear more names I will let everyone know. We have been picking up some new names. Had one phone call this week stating that he read about the reunion in the American Legion magazine. He can't make the 09 reunion but is going to be in San Antonia in 2010. Take care, make your plans and we'll see everyone in October.

I don't remember any names...except LTJG Kimball and our captains bushy eye brows. It was interesting reading all the email. Spent most of my time in Yokosuka....when the ship was stationed there at the end of 1959....I only got sick 3 times on that floating bathtub. went through a few typhoons...not fun when the bow comes crashing down and the stern vibrates...shakes and creeks....hit my head several times on the mess decks cages going through the mess line. Some good memories...but I am too old to remember.

I was a Electrician Em3 when I was transfered to the USS Princeton LPH 5 in Long Beach. The T.C. was a great ahip to learn about the Navy and your Trade. If your name should be included please let me know. If you haven't booked do so. Comments:Good afternoon, been quite awhile since I've been to this site. My computer wasn't letting me do the things I wanted so I had to do some changing things around. Anyway things are basicially complete for this years reunion and the information will be out soon. We will be staying in Lead, SD. which is just over the hill from Deadwood. The dates are Oct. 22-24th. and we will be having fun. Mark your calenders and plan to attend if at all possible. If anyone has any questions or problems please feel free to let us know and we do our best to get help.

Have had some luck lately finding addresses for three shipmates we didn't have addresses for. One of them thus far intends to be at the reunion. Hopefully, all three will be but we'll have to see how everything works out.

If anyone knows the location of fellow shipmates please let others know so we can get them included in this years mailings so they too might be at the reunion. At this time theres hundreds of shipmates left to be found and word of mouth seems to be the best way of locating more addresses. George O'Connell has worked hard at this but he can only do so much. He does have the History complete and also the crews lists so if you need or want copies get in contact with him.

We're also hoping everyone is off to a great New Year. Take care and we'll see you in the fall.

Comments:Fellow shipmates of the Terrell County -- another reunion has just went by the way side and OH what a reunion it turned out to be. Have to give special thanks to Debra and Clovis Long for the wonderful hotel that they picked out for all of us, along with lining up the show with "Harley Worthit" What a treat and honor for us all to meet and to take a picture with our Hero, Harley. Got a lot of great pictures with the shipmates and their wives to share at our next reunion. By the way shipmates , our reunion will be in Deadwood South Dakota next year and Keith and Barb Senska will be hosting the reunion for us. Thank you all for taking on the task of planing our reunion for next year. Looking forward to seeing the sites and South Dakota next year. For those of you that have never seen Mt. Rushmore, it is truly a magnificent site to see and behold. Truly one of the wonders of our Great country and the world. For all of you shipmates on the west coast and have been wanting to attend a reunion, now is your chance. This is the farthest west that we have gotten thus far and we are hoping that you all will take advantage an come this year. IN 2010 the reunion will be in San Antonio Texas and will be hosted by Luis Mendola and his wonderful wife Alice. As you all well know that San Antonio is also a wonderful pcale to see with all kinds of things to do, so everyone plan ahead and plane on coming to the next two reunions. This years reunion was the biggest one so far. We had 15 new couples, shipmates and their wives that attended our reunion for the first time. Charles Burton from Paris TX.--Thomas and Diane Beuche from Jarresu LA. --Ben and Marsha Carlin from Lincoln City OR.--Lester and Sally Hamilton from Buffalo MO.--Paul and Jennifer Manoli from Huntsvill TX.--Jessie and Nellie McCain from Cave Springs GA. --Dennis and Marina Nitz from Ellsworth WI.--Bill Porter from Cheltenham MD.--Robert Rodkey from San Antonio TX.-- Gary and Andrea Sloop from Bartlesville OK.--Calvin Spradley from Raytown MO.--Mike and Andrea Sullivan from Millbrae Ca.--Don Wolfe from Coldwater MS.-- John and Gay Wyatt from Metairie LA. Want to welcome all of you aboard as members of the Terrell County LST 1157 reunion organization. Hoping that you all enjoyed the reunion as much as the old regulars did and hoping that you all will attend the upcoming reinion in South Dakota and San Antonio Texas. Hoping that you all have gotten that reunion feeling in your blood, that feeling of "WAR TIME" brotherhood that we all want to share with one another, that feeling of comadaree and compashionsip that comes our of each and everyone of us that attends a Terrell County reunion. The only way to get that feeling that I am talking about is to attend a reunion and you will know exactly what feeling I am talking about. Come get that Band of Brothers feeling, attend next years reunion. Phil Vaccaro BM3 P.S. Thanks again for all of the first time reunion shipmates and their wives for coming to our reunion in Branson Mo.

Comments:2008 reunion is history. We had a great time in Branson with my new faces plus many returnees. Many things were shared by all including picures, notebooks, cds, dvd's and best of all the stories and memories of years past. For those of you who chose not to attend think and work hard and plan to attend one or more of the future reunions. For the year of 2009 the group choose Deadwood, South Dakota. Some of you probably wonder why there? Deadwood itself is a restored mining town with many of the orginal buildings turned into a gambling town. The Black Hills of South Dakota includes Deadwood. Mt. Rushmore is nearby along with the ongoing craving of Crazy Horse. I'm in the process of making the plans for the 2009 reunion so if anyone has any special requests please let me know and we see what we can do. I will make the information available for all as soon as we get the plans in place. Thanks to all and we will look forward to seeing everyone in Deadwood if not before.

I remember the huge welcome sign on the bow doors, It said, "Welcome 3D Recon Battalion. As a Navy Corpsmen at the time, I felt very pround of the Navy. The first time aboard Terrell, the sea was very flat. The second trip to Subic the ship was really pitching and rolling. I was turning the color of green which matched my Marine Corps utilities. It felt like a flat bottom bath tube. The S&A detail set, we tied up at the pier, got off the ship, and it took 2 days to stop rocking back a forth to match the ships movements.
It was an adventured.

The reunion is drawing closer and if you haven't made your plans please do. The latest news is that we will be able to see Harley Worthit. Thanks to the efforts of Clovis Long. Harley is looking forward to meeting his fan club so lets not let him down. For those of you who missed the Branson reunion the first time here is your chance to see some great entertainment. To cut things short Harley is great after-all he does his clothes shopping at the Walmart dumpsters. With that I'll leave that subject.
Next but last is this site. Come aboard guys. In 5 days this site has had 33 hits but yet no one has signed the guestbook. I know 5 of them was myself. I check the site daily hoping for some messages. Must be what everyone is doing. Just think of the fun it could be if everyone would just sign on once a week. Even once a month would be way better than the present usage. Lets everyone give it a chance to survive. Without usage most things die. Right!

Just sitting here on this beautifull "MEMORIAL DAY", and just stumbled on this Website (Home Page)and I was onboard
the "Itchie-Itchie-Go-Nana" as the young girls in Yokusuka
would scream as we stagered into the bar (Club Yokusuka)...
Does anyone remember RM3 Ron Clark 1966-1968??? My running mates were Danny Caudille...The best MS Cook on board...The last time I saw Danny was in Hawaii in 1976. Also in the Radio Gang was Rm3 John Cashman, and Rm3 Chuck Carter who I had the privledge of running into in 1980. He was a RMCS in Virginia Beach NAVCAMSLANT when I was the watch LPO RM1(SS) at the same duty station from 1980-1982. The Submarine Navy is somewhat different than the "GATOR NAVY", but I do have some great memories and some shocking stories I share with my family. Also in my memory banks is HM1 Parsons...HT3 Jerry Othalt, and Skivy waver SM3 White. I believe the OPS/Nav was Cruty, and the Commo was Ltjg Williams.
Well that just about does it with my remaining brain cells...Does anyone recall these names I've mentioned???
It would be nice to here from our old shipmates...

Comments:Hi Shipmates: Just wanted to drop a few line to say what in the hell is going on. Just a little over 6 months till its time to have the time of your lives and everyone is procrastinating. Clovis and family has worked their tails off getting everything organized in Branson and so far the reservations thus far is only seven couples signed up. I have to blame this on the Shipmates, the couch potatoes so to speak. That is why I am asking for each and every one of you reading this email to get your better halves (The wives) to come read this email. Please ladies, go ahead and book your Branson reservations early. I know that the hotel has a cansellation policy, so that if something comes up you can get your moneys back. Probably cannnot get the guys away form the TV,s long enough to do it so I am asking you to do it for them. You already know the great time that we all enjoy every year. Clovis sent out 215 invitations so we should have a great turn out this year. Maybe one of the biggest turnouts ever. We all owe this to Clovis and Family for all the hard work that the have done thus far. Besides we can get a count on the hotel bookings so that we can prepare in advance of how many people will be there this year. Us guys have to know about those kind of things so that we will know how many icechests to bring this year if you know what I mean. Ha Ha Keep them emails flowing in the guestbook, its the best means of communication going leading up to our reunion this year in Branson. Hoping to see everyone soon. Phil

Would help others to know who to contact and also get more shipmates interested in attending. Could we have a site where we could sign into for that reason. Sounds like to me that the 2008 reunion has a good chance of being the best one yet. Lets get excited. Just a few short months left.

Comments:Hello shipmates: Checking out the sign in's in the guestbook an I am thrilled to see so many sailors signing once again. Thanks for the time to say a few words and to communicate with your old sea buddies once again. Doesn't if feel great to be communicating with the guys that you served your country with after 40 years of not seeing one another. What a miracle of modern communicaation. The guestbook seems to be on fire with enteries. Lets keep them going sailors. That is what the "Brotherhood" of the Terrell County is all about. We have been reunited once again by the grace of God, and hopefully will never be seperated again. Looking in my Terrell County scrapbook and I have to say that I am getting excited once again. We still have 7 plus months to go but I already getting that reunion fever once again, if you know what I mean. I think that we owe Clovis Long, Debra Long, and Clovis"s daughter a special grataitaude for the great work that they have done organizing the Hotels in Branson for us, the entertainment that will be happening that week, the exceptional invitation that the three of them put together, and the maps and telelphone numbers and of of the great information that they have worked hard to put together. Thanks you all so very very much. Looks like this year could be one of the biggest reunions ever as Clovis has sent out over 200 invitations. Hope everyone that gets an invite has a opportunity to attend. For those of you that has not made a reunion as of yet, all I can say is you sure do not realize what you are missing out on. Ask anyone who has attended if you do not believe me. You are missing out on the time of your life. Lets all chip in to make the 2008 reunion in Branson on of the biggest and the best yet. Love you all and cannot wait to see all of you jokers once again in Branson Missouri this year. Had may great memories aboard this ship. don't remember anyone aboard anymore, just been gone too long I guess. we are thinking of coming to the next reunion which
is going to be held at Branson, so maybe I'll see someone

Comments:Hello Shipmates: So happy to see more shipmates are signing onto the guestbook. Thank heavens for the guestbookand the people who take care of it. I know for a fact that all of us are constantly searching for some of our old shipmates. Some are harder to find than others. But we cannot stop looking. I am so happy that we have a website so that the ones we cannot locate have a place that if they sign on to the Terrell County website, they will be able to see whats going on in our organization and the wonderful reunions that we are having evch year. The website (if they sign on one day) will always be a source of locating an old shipmate that we cannot seem to find. I know that we all have someone that we are still searching for. Maybe we should all post who the shipmate you are looking for in the case that someone else may know where they live and how to contact them. I am personally looking for Norman Kinsman (Snarf) who lived in Detroit Michigan when he left the Terrell County. I am looking for Alfredo Malave who lived in Puerto Rico when he left the Terrell County. Also John Hancock who lived in Mobile Alabama when he left the Terrell County. If anyone has any information on these shipmates or their wearabouts please get me the information and I will surely get in contact with them. I know that these three shipmates would love to know about our organization and our reunions. I know that they would come to our reunions if only they knew about them. That is why we all have to keep searching for the ones that we have lost contact through the years. For those shipmates that are going to Branson this year, Can't wait to see you all once again, love each ane everyone of you. Phil Vaccaro BM3

Comments:Hi Shipmates: Well I finally am getting around to writing a line or so. Had a great time at the 2007reunion at Evansville, and had a great time. Was interesting seeing old shipmates again and finding out what they have been doing, or not doing. The tour of the LST brought back old memories, some good, and some not so good, especially midwatches when it was bad weather when I was in deck force, and then the watches in CIC with the ships barber Davis, and haven't found him yet, but I am sure we will find more shipmates every year. Will see you all at the 2008 reunion in October, and thanks Clovis for taking care of that for us. Have been keeping warm with my navy afghan which I purchased at the auction the ladies had, I would feel a lot warmer if the price hadn't been run up by a cerain young lady, and of course being a gentleman I won't mention her name, but she is from El Paso Texas, and she came with her young husband Angel Verdugo. Talk to all of you later on. Steve

But then it doesn't seem like it has been 40 years since I served on the Terrell County. Suppose it just goes to show that life is short. Have many good memories of the two years I served on the Terrell County and now even more of the reunions of the last three years. Hope, we can keep the memories coming as long as theres shipmates willing to attend and make the reunions great. Thanks, goes to the latest users of this web site. Lets keep thing going. Does everyone remember the Christmas's we served over seas. I remember the one year when a package of raisins was wrapped up as a Christmas gift and gave to an old boatswains mate as a present. Believe we called him raisin. Oh well! Can remember partying at the EM Club in Yokosuka one Christmas. With that have a great one and many more.

Comments:Hi Shipmates: Hope that everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving. As you all already know we all have a lot to be thankful for. Sometimes we forget how really blessed we all are. I am thankful to the Dear Lord that he has let the shipmates of the Terrell County locate one another and that we are all able to get together with each other once a year. Thank you Jesus!!. Signed on this website about 3 weeks ago and it did not get posted for some reason on another. Guess that I must have screwed up or somthing with the sign on. Will try once again. As Keith Senska stated in his last sign on that not too many shipmates are signing on to this website since the reunion in Evansville. I agree with Keith. We stated to everyone at the reunion in Evansville how important communication is to the sucess of our reunions. I know all of you shipmates has a story to share. It can be about an experience aboard ship, it can be about a fellow shipmate that you are trying to lacate or have located. It can be about what you thought of the reunion good or bad. It can even be about the great comaradee we all share seeing each other once a year. Come on shipmates, its not that hard to do. If I can email, any one can. Get you better half (your wife or girlfriend to help you if you are not that great at typing.) Communication is for the betterment of the Terrell County Association and the betterment of our yearly reunions. You do not have to sigh on every week. Once a quarter is not asking to much, is it? With the help of the Good Lord, he brought us together after 35 plus years guys. Lets touch base with one another throughout the year and keep that line of communication oper to one another. One of the reasons we have such a great website is because in the first 3 years we had a lot of communication. Anyone that logged on to our website were jealous because we had so many shipmates corresponding with on another. It has died down for some reason or another but we can get it back together. Just 20 minutes of your time every once in a while or once a quarter. I do not think that is asking to much of your time for the success of our great organization. It took us 35 years and a lot of hard work to get us where we are now. With your help and cooperation we will make this organization the best LST website around. Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy and safe new year. Phil

We had a great year in agriculture with good yields and good prices but followed by the high expenses of diesel fuel and fertilizer, etc.

We're thankfull for another great reunion and seeing all who made it again. Looking forward to the next one and many more. Hoping everyones health stays with them and we can keep the good times going. Hoping everyone makes the best possible effort to keep the reunions part of their vacation plans.

Comments:Hi shipmates: Looks like we have picked up a little activity in the guestbook but not nearly enough. I really thought that after the reunion in Evansville that turned out great, we would have a lot more scuttlebut going on in the guestbook by now. Remember that we stressed to everyone just how important our comminication was to the success of our reunions. Would love to know whats going on in everyones lives, if shipmates enjoyed the reunion, who plans on coming next year to the reunion in Branson Missouri, did the wives have a good time, if you are looking for or have located a missing shipmate, any good ideas that we can use at the next reunion, etc. There are a lot of things to communicate about if only you will give up a precious 15 minutes of your time. You know shipmates that it is really sad that it took us 35 plus years to finally find on another and 32 years to get our reunions going, and we cannot find time after all this time to correspond. I know your lives cannot be that darn busy that you cannot take time to correspond with a fellow shipmate. You do not have to write a email every week. Would it be that hard to email once a month, or even every quarter. If you are not familure with emailing get your wives to show you. It is so darn easy and does not cost anything to mail. Just a little of your time. Come on sailors, this is your band of brothers we are talking about. Weather you was a sailor on the Terrell County in 1953 or whether you were on her when she was decomissioned in 1971 we are all a band of brothers. We all shared one thing in common, we serves on a great ship, made some teriffic buddies, and have a lot of experiences to share. Lets get the comminication back once again shipmates. With communication comes comoradee and that equals great reunions. If you cannot type get your better half to type for you. There should not be any excuses. You will be doing it for the success and betterment of the Terrell County LST 1157 association. So please sign on every now and then and please tell a fellow shipmate to do so also. Thanks old sailors. Your old buddy for life--- Phil Vaccaro.

Lets get some communication going and make it exciting for all involved. It doesn't take much effort to keep everyone posted on whats going on in our lifes. This time of year is busy for a farmer as I still have harvesting to do, calves to wean and ground work to do before the ground freezes for the winter. The days are long but the prices of the grain are at all time highs. Had pheasant hunters from Wisc. for the last few days. They are a nice group of guys and when they left they said they had the most fun in the fifteen plus years they have visited my farm. Have received some pictures of the reunion. Thanks, and I'll include them with the others from the past reunions. More later. Looking forward to hearing from the others.

This year, just like the past years was a great time for all that attended. The Terrell County associatin partied late into the night each night. Some of the other LST members came to our sweet to join in our festivities, we know how to have a good time. We had some shipmates that flew in from the West Coast this year. Was so glad to have them come in a be a part of the organization. Will be looking into the hotels , restraunts and intertainment for nest year,s reunion in Branson Mosouri. As everyone knows already that Branson has a whole lot to do and see, that everyone should have a great time next year. Talked to Blair Fabac on the phone and he has stated that he will see everyone again in Branson next year. Would like to thank everyone who came this year to Evansville . Your presence made the reunion the success that it was. Lets keep the comunication going on this web site throughout the year so that next years reuion will be one of the best ever. Lets be sure to keep the skuttlebut going all year long. Love each and every one of you all. Phil

Comments:Home from the 2007 reunion. For those of you who didn't make it you missed another great time. For those who did make it thanks for all the effort. Without everyone's efforts the reunions just won't be what they are. For the new faces we were glad to have you aboard and we look forward to seeing everyone next year in Branson. Start to plan for the 2008 reunion with the dates to be released in the near future. As everyone knows the crew members of the TC came from all over and so where the crew members of the reunion. That is just part of what make it so enjoyable is learning what everyone is doing, where they have been, etc.
With that thanks for the good times and see you next year.

Comments:I talked with Rosemary again this morning, 18SEP07, and everything as we know it is in place for reunion arrivals. The Executive Inn will have shuttles available for trips to LST 325's berth along the Ohio River. As I understand it, other shuttles will be available for shopping at Eastland Mall. The activities, in general, follow those of the LST Association. Some of you may be here in time for the three underway periods aboard LST 325 on Thursday. The ship is available daily for tours. Other activities can be seen elsewhere on this website. Not only were many of the older LST's built here in Evansville at a shipyard on the banks of the Ohio, but also, Evansville was the home of the Republic Aircraft company. That facility is presently owned by Whirlpool Corp. and sits at the south end of Evansville Regional Airport. Casino Aztar is available for dockside gambling if you choose to participate. There are numerous restaurants at the Aztar Pavillion, and other locations in and around Evansville. As for me, I live here, and I might add, I work here too, so I will hope to see you on the weekday evenings. If you need anything at the hotel, Rosemary invites you to contact the front desk, and hopes you enjoy your visit.

Comments:Signed the guestbook a couple nights ago but must not got it posted. Will try ,again. Was wishing that everyone would make their reunion plans know and thus, though this web-site and phone calls we can as many as possible to the reunion. I have done some checking and have noticed that only around 1/3 of the shipmates who have posted messages have attended an reunion and less than half that have used this site more than a couple times. Wondering why we can't get some excitement going with both. I would think it should be similiar to when we use to get liberty after being out to sea for awhile. Come on lets get some excitement going. Those of us who have attended the reunions have enjoyed them or we wouldn't be going back. But we all would enjoy seeing new faces and learning about what our fellow shipmates have been doing. If you can't attend the reunion please keep us informed as to where and what you are doing. If you know where ours are please let us know so we can find as many as possible. All for now.

Comments:Hi everyone, guestbook and message board has been really dead as of late. Come on TC sailors and lets get with it. The reunion is just around the corner and all of us need to get the a real thrill a brewing just like when we had a liberty coming in the Navy days. Lets get our buddies thinking reunion. Lets get some reunion plans known among our fellow shipmates and get others involved. I've been doing a little research and I counted around fifty plus shipmates have used this guestbook since 05. Only 14 or 15 of these 50 have made it to reunions. Plus that many more have only used the guestbook once or twice. What has happened to the names, etc. Lets do something to make things exciting and get things rolling. As you can see looking at the last reunion picture there was 27 in the picture. Not everyone has an computer. So we must reach out the others. If you know of shipmates and you haven't seen their names on this web site get their addresses to George so he can get information to them. I got lucky and found a fellow shipmate a couple weeks ago. We hadn't made contact since in the early 70's. I had just about given him up for dead. He's alive and well and hopefully will make the reunion. Enough for now and please do what we must to make each reunion better and lets get some life in this guestbook and message center.

Comments:I have been trying to get on the message board to provide information concerning room availability at the Executive Inn in Evansville. Can't seem to get the account setup for some reason.

The latest word from Rosemary, who is a member of the Executive Inn staff, reports as follows:

Rooms are still available. As of Friday, 27JUL07, there have been 25 reservations made against a block of 60 rooms. She says some folks have requested non-smoking rooms, but none were available. If you want a non-smoking room please advise the reservation clerk when you call. Every effort will be made to provide one for you. However, if none are available, they will refresh the room before you arrive. Rosemary said this is a common practice to accomodate guests, assures me the rooms will not reek of smoke.

Again, as of last Friday, there was a total of 250 rooms still not booked through 26SEP07. If you wish to be in Evansville for the start of LST Week, you should get your reservations in.

This is my first experience with the Executive Inn in Evansville, but I have stayed at two others located in Owenboro, KY, and Paducah, KY. They all have different owners, but well appointed. The Evansville Executive Inn recently changed hand, but are very willing to accomodate guests and to make a good impression.

Looking forward to seeing you in Evansville. Indiana's River City. Ron Miller

Comments:I had not looked at the guestbook for some time, but I will put this entry in regarding hotels here in Evansville. The Casino Aztar is a rather large hotel in the downtown area just a few blocks from the Executive Inn. It is on the riverfront and some rooms have views upriver toward the LST 325. With LST week in full swing at the time of our reunion, I expect the downtown hotels will be booked up. Up highway US 41, you will find the Holiday Inn, the Marriott, the Drury Inn, and the Days Inn. These are five to six miles from downtown Evansville. To the east and west of downtown, located on the Lloyd Expressway there are Hampton Inns, another Drury Inn, Comfort Inn, and so forth. I am sure all who attend the reunion will have a enjoyable time. A wonderful opportunity to share your sea-stories with of those who rode the WWII LST's, and to listen to some of theirs, as well. Looking forward to visiting. Ron Miller

Thanks, George for your reply about the guestbook but there don't seem to be news about the reunion other than a few replies stating they plan to be there. Wishing we could get some imput as to numbers and thus build some more interest from those who haven't decided yet. I would assure anyone who hasn't attended an reunion yet that you will enjoy yourself if make to the 2007 reunion. Theirs always sea stories and shipmates who make it interesting.
Had a nice visit with BJ Broyles and his wife Diane a week and half ago. They camped in our yard for three nights and we had a real good time. They had been to Gordon Thomas in Iowa on the way here and went on to the Black Hills on the way back to Tenn.
Take a little time and log on and tell us shipmates what is going on in your lives. Hope to see as many as possible in Evansville.

It is getting closer to the time when we should all be getting excited. This time last year we were all sending messages of excitement and antisipation. Let's get the spirit going again gang. I do not know about the rest of you, but I can't wait to see all of you crazy jokers once again. If the wives are reading this e-mail, start getting them old seabags off of the couch and on to the computer so that we can get that Terrell County scuttlebut going once again. Can't wait to see all of you in Evansville ,Indiana this coming September. The last 2 re-unions were great and I know that this one will be even better. We have to make each re-union better than the year before. So lets get the adrinilan running in those vains again, lets get that Terrell County attitude that we will have a blast this year in Indiana. Looking forward to seeing all of you there.

Nov 65 was the timeframe for the Tuy Hoa broaching. It took a couple of days to get a towing hawser secured on the fantail. An Army helo helped get the line to us from a Navy tug, and once secured, we were pulled off the beach in 10-15 min. You are correct that Harry Kinsley was the CO at the time.

Some time between Oct & Dec 66, we must have broached again. I recall the name Toc Lo Binh? (spelling) Does anyone remember the CO at that time. Was his name Kinsley?
I remember lots of brass on the pier when we got back to Yokouska & a change of command happening on the tank deck that none of the crew were allowed to attend. We were sequestered in our quarters while it took place. Anyone else remember this or am I just nuts like most people around me seem to think?

Haven't said that I feel the group attending thus far is willing to go where ever. It takes alot of planning and work on the part of whomever to get the re-union set up. The location of next re-union is voted on by the shipmates attending the re-unions. We know it is'nt always possible for everyone to get to the re-unions but with the early notice we have this year it should for more to make the necessary planning. Lets go for a record and get as many shipmates as possible. The last one was a real good but lets out do it. What ever we need to do please let us know and lets get it done. Comments:I spent two Christmas' aboard the TC...1969 and 1970. To tell you the truth, I don't remember too much about them. The Boiler Room demanded much of my time and one day just faded into another.

To all my former shipmates; Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Comments:Dear Shipmates,
With Christmas drawing near I can remember one year of some of the deck crew wrapping up a box of raisins and giving the package to an old Boatswain's Mate everyone called Raisin for a Christmas gift. Seems like we probably ended up working extra for some reason. With that if shipmates know more of this story or have more of what went on for the holiday's please tell your stories. Have a Merry Christmas.

Comments:I hadn't checked the TC's site in awhile and sure was surprised to find my mug on the pic. of the month. Lot of fun sniping the cutter "Alert" when we moved it to Portland. It's main engines are the same as the engines that were the main generators on the Terrell. Still haven't found a home for the 1166 and the way it is going there won't be much left of it as the druggies are stripping it to pay for their drugs. The AFMM website is presently under going an overhaul and we hope to have it updated in a month or so.
Best wishes and Happy Turkey day.

Comments:Ski, The pictures of the re-union were done by BJ Broyles daughter Jennifer. One should be able to contact him and get the necessary copies to get you what you need for the web site. The re-union picture of the group would make an excellant picture of the month for Dec. or whenever. Would show the many faces with a name for everyone. Hopefully, this would draw more interest in the next re-union. Let me know if you need help.

Comments:Keith,
George sent me the pic of Al Berg and asked me to post it "somewhere" on the site. I thought a "Pic of the Month" would be a good idea. We'll let this one run through November. Guys,
How about submitting pics for December? And...what about the pics and DVD you bought from the reunion? How do I get one? Are they just for attendees? Thanks! Ski
