i know my moms hands like they are my own. as a little girl i spent many hours playing with all her big turquoise rings. when lucky i could pull one off her finger but i wouldnt get far before she'd ask for it back. ever since i can remember my moms hands have been adorned with big rings with beautiful stones – and still today her beautiful large hands display beautiful stones and craftsmanship. my mom bought me my first 'big' ring about 5 years back. she bought a stunning blue ring at the montclair craft fair. she fell in love with your dark blue and turquoise stones and classic design, and your enthusiasm for what you do. i wasnt sure i was a 'big ring' girl and more then anything didnt trust myself with a gorgeous stone ring. i drop things, i bang things, i do just about everything one shouldnt do with jewelry on. 5 years later what now feels like a permanent part of my hand is my brazillian aquamarine - that has endured and apparently is indestructible. last montclair fair i tried to avoid your booth but remembered my mother's ring had lost its shine for some reason...so i stopped by to ask you about it. not only did you polish it up beautifully and mail it back to her within a week, including tips on how to care for it, but you had a one of a kind, spectacular, poppy jasper ring that was just my size. when i put it on i noticed the red/brown in the stone looked like lips, and from the other view - a dancer. amazing how these stones can come alive with imagination and your craftwork. clearly I had no choice but to leave with it on my hand. your rings are my signature pieces. i never thought i would feel so represented by jewelry - but your work has a way of expressing how i see myself. thank you. im hoping to avoid you in two weeks in montclair....but if willpower fails me ill make sure to stop by [with checkbook and of course my rings on]. best, vanessa |
