| Comments: | I am about to have an MRI to see if I have acoustic neuroma. For the past 9 months I've been diagnosed with Meniere's disease by 2 medical professionals although the ENT says he isn't sure. Although, he didn't have any alternative suggestions to the cause of the symptoms. For approximately the past 4 years I've experienced maybe 4-5 vertigo episodes. (Severe to mild.) I continue to have a constant feeling of dizziness (off-balance sensation), hearing loss in both ears, a buzzing sound that is like a transformer sound (not really my ears but like an aura around my head.) I experience periodic sharp pain, mild pain and fullness in my ears. Mostly the right ear, but has started in the left ear as well. I've battled with migraines over the past 4 years. I also went about 4 months with constant low level nausea. (The same sensation one gets with motion sickness.) The more active I am, the sooner I would get sick. I can't do Pilates or Curves exercise gyms anymore because the head movement makes me sick and very unsteady. I haven't had a vertigo episode in about 8-9 months, just constant, constant, annoying sense of imbalance and buzzing sounds 24/7. My hearing is distorted. That is I can't hear certain sounds, but loud volume still bothers me. My hearing tests show hearing loss in both ears. Another indicator that it is not Meniere's is that a low-sodium diet and diuretics don't seem to have any affect on alleviating my symptoms. I don't want my diagnosis to be "acoustic neuroma" but I do want to know what is wrong with me as I am tired of being "sick and tired".

| Comments: | Hi there I am so glad that this site exist. I had my surgery in 96' If I knew things today that I know now I might not of had the surgery. It all depends on if the tumor was pressing on nerves and could of been life threatening. I have earing loss in my left ear and my balance problems are the same as before. I still have headaches and sometimes and my skull gets very sensitive where they did the surgery.. I sometimes wish I never had it done. Anyway, thanks for this site it is a great help knowing there are others who have had the same thing.. |

| Comments: | i had my surgery november 3, 03 after reading many stories i know i've been fortunate. i only have problems with balance,taste,and of course total hearing loss on the right side.i do fatigue faster than before, but i never offered myself enough sleep in the past, so now i have a reason. |
