| Comments: | While searching some scanned Loudoun co., VA chancery records, I found a very interesting case, that of Reed Poulton vs. heirs of Joshua Reed (or Reid). Although the case is from 1876, it's a goldmine of good genealogical information from the 19th century, and lists many people from Ohio, etc. A new find for me was the 'testimony' that Andrew Reid's wife was Lizzie RICHCREEK. Her two sisters and many of their descendants are listed. (Not that it will matter to Richcreek researchers, but my direct ancestor Eveline Poulton is mentioned several times in the court case.) It was only relatively recently that Loudoun chancery records were put online by the Library of Virginia.
You can view the scanned documents online. First go to: http://www.virginiamemory.com/collections/chancery/ Then you can select Loudoun co., and then Poulton as the Plaintiff, next, scroll down a bit and type in the year 1876. (there’s other ways of finding it …..)Then once you reach the case, which will open in a separate window, type in 33 in the IMAGE # field and that will take you to the Andrew Reid / Lizzie Richcreek data. Image #29 lists Joshua Reed’s children (he was son of Andrew and Lizzie). There are over a hundred images scanned and it will take a while to read through them all. Reed Poulton may have had access to family Bibles, and he was living during a time when he would have known the names of many of his ancestors. He stayed in VA, while his siblings moved to Belmont co., Ohio. You’ll note, of course, that the surname Reed can be spelled different ways. Anyway, it’s really interesting to come up with a new surname in my line – RICHCREEK. And it will be fun learning more about this family. Tom Bishop |

| Comments: | Thanks for all of your deligent work. My father was James Fidelas Parks, son of Willliam Daniel Parks and Elizabeth Dunn. My dad's grandfather was Joseph Franklin Parks who was married to Mary Elizabeth Procunier.
My dad moved to San Antonio, Texas when he married my mother, Esther Evelyn Alcedo, in 28 Nov. 1946. Unfortunately, we grew up not knowing any of our Parks relations, other than an occasional visit. |

There are a few corrections to the 4th generation number 5 that should be made. My grandfather's real name was Dennis Raymond Parks, not Russell. His son was named Dennis Russell Parks and for some reason that he did not like most people called him by his middle name "Russell". Feel free to contact me if I can provide any other information.

My great-great-grandmother was Dora Parks, she married Charley Barnes. Helen Barnes their daughter is my Grandmother - she married Roy Molden. Harold Molden was my father..so there I am. I was up in Sioux City this last weekend and took some pictues of graves if you are interested let me know, I have some Parks.
One question have you ever found any information on Samuel Parks, who I believe was David Parks father. One more was David Parks born in Ireland or Ohio..... She was trying find out more about her family (Parks), and I passed your web address on to her. She is the granddaughter of Howard Parks, the son of Philip Arthur Parks. The little information that I have gleaned suggests that the Parks name is derived from Irish ancestors. Originally, in Celtic, it had an O' preceeding it, and relaate4d the rather high position of keeper of parks for high born. In my case there is a liberal sprinkling of Cherokee Indian blood. |

My grandfather William Hazzard was born in Sault Ste Marie Michigan and his father came from Iowa m my ggrandmother Rachel Vanderburg . Now I have really hit a brick wall thats a far as I can go . William Parks came from Iowa to Sault Ste Marie Mich 1871 lived on Sugar Island and is burried there . He was 27 at the time of the census . Any help would be greatly appreciated . | Comments: | Your Parks are different from mine, but very similar: Robert Parks (b. 1699) came from Co. Donegal Ireland to Lancaster/Dauphin Co., Pennslvania between 1710 and 1724. He and his wife Elizabeth had 10-13 children, including Joseph Parks Sr. (b. 1746). I'm descended from Joseph's daughter Elizabeth Parks Robison (b. 1775), my gr-gr-gr-gr grandmother. In 1797, Joseph and his family moved to Warren Co., Ohio, and in 1824, the family moved to Parke Co. Indiana, then Scott Co. Iowa, where I'm from. Since the similarities are so great, I wonder if there might have been a family connection somewhere down the line. P.S. my Parks were originally from Scotland.

Dad had 13 children and married 3 times. He married the same woman twice. Most of us live in Texas, with only 3 living outside the state in Massachusettes, Georgia & Arkansas. Of all the lessons Daddy taught me, family was always most important. So it is with great pride to read more of my fathers' family.
About ten-12 years back, one of our cousins, Jerry Benton, created a Parks history/family tree album. In that album, I came across a school card, from a teacher to the students. It had listed several Parks', with one name I couldn't identify. Your site helped explain who Dennis Parks was. By the way, I also have a brother named Dennis.
