| Comments: | I am a descendant of Daniel O'Donnell and Nancy Treadway. There is some erroneous information in various places on the web about Daniel O'Donnell & his descendants.
We know very little about Daniel's background except that he came here from Ireland (according to our family oral history). He and Nancy had a son, Robert, who married Elizabeth May and they moved to Kansas in the 1870's. They had a son named Daniel. This Daniel was my great great grandfather. I have copies of records that take the line back to Nathaniel Treadway and Sufferance Haynes. I also have a sketchbook with drawings done by Jane Augusta's sister, Sarah Mariette Treadway.Sarah died in the 1860's at the age of 16. Pneumonia.
This branch of the family lived in the Port Henry/Ticonderoga area of Upstate NY, moving there from VT. The Weatherby family was involved in th Iron Mines in that part of the state. It's great to find so many others on here! |

I'm a descent of Richard Treadway (Richard, Richard, Daniel, Daniel, WB, Easter, Vada, Billie, Beverly) and am having a very hard time connecting Richard the first to his lianage. Family Search shows that Richard was born to Josiah Treadway and Sarah Sweetman but the dates don't match and I think that has more or ess been debunked by information I have found here. I haven't been searching that long so I feel eventually I'll find what I'm looking for.

Seems that Thomas b.18 aug 1799 led to Crispen b.9 aug 1834 then Garrett Emmett b. 10 aug 1869 whom I believe was my fathers (Dwight Joseph b. 6 April 1918) father led to me Garrett Emmett Tredway b. 11 Aug 1949. Seems unreal about the August thing, no? My father, from Pittsburgh, had siblings of Wilber, Mildred, Wynn, Helen, Dwight and Jean all of them have passed on. Great stuff! Makes me feel famous. |

My mother Mary Lillian Tredway Williams and my aunt Margaret Jean Tredway Walker did an extensive search in the 1970's and 80's on the Tredway (note no A after the E) family side and found that the first Tredways in our lineage came from England in the late 1700's and ended up in Cashockton County Ohio. There were 2 brothers, Crispin and Tristin. I don't have the book that lists the entire family line but as soon as I can I will get it and update this page. I am interested in finding history in England prior to the brothers arrival. |

I did not see any relations on this site except I remember looking at papers where my mother did endless research on the Treadways. There was a Crispin in England that was taken out of the family will because he married a woman who could not bear children. My mother has a lot of research papers, wills, marriage info etc on the Treadways....I know we came from England/Wales and am not sure where all we scattered about. Sadly enough most have passed included my wonderful father. He was the greatest and made me extremely proud to have the Treadway name. Treadway, but everyone calls him Rock. | Comments: | I am from the Richard Treadway line. My uncle William Alan Treadway did an extensive trace of my grandfather's line, Felix Hannon Treadway. Not sure if he got some information from this site. However, he has much more detail and put it in book form which was later published and put in a library in Alabama. The details he uncovered were from public records, grave sites and etc. I will be emailing this site to him tonight. If you notice, Ricard Treadway's son changed the spelling to Treadaway. Not sure why. My grandfather changed it back in the early 1920s I believe. My father George Berry Treadway was born in 1923 and my other uncle Felix Hannon Treadway Jr was born in 1921. My aunt Ruth Treadway was the 3rd child. Uncle Bill is the youngest and the only surviving sibling of the 4. Felix Treadway Sr was contacted by the courthouse that had burned down and was asked about his birth certificate and he gave them the information and changed the spelling back to Treadway. His father Andrew Jackson Treadaway was in fact a post master in Alabama. This is where it gets interesting. He did something bad at the post office and left Alabama with his family except my grandfather who stayed behind in Alabama where he joined the Armed Forces for WWI. No trace of Andrew and wife and siblings were heard from again. Until my Uncle found some relitives out west a few years ago. If you would like the name of the book and the publisher, you may contact me. Be sure to put in the subject line Treadway Family Tree. Otherwise I delete my unknown mail. This is a great site and seems to be accurate with my line. Good luck to us all. What a great name! By the way, I did a school project back in the 70s and found that a treadway is a half bridge that moves from one shore to the other used at small rivers and streams. |

Aunt Sally used the sur name Roberts. I don't think old man "Dolph" moved to Ohio, I will double check this with my dad. Uncle Grorge, Aunt Sally and Uncle Cletes have all died. Dad's three half sisters are all still alive. I saw all three for the first time in over 30 years this past summer at a family get together at the family cemetery on Doe Branch this past summer. His father was Robert H Treadway and you have the rest. My uncle Neal Preston Treadway told me about your site. | Comments: | I have just begun researching part of the Greeley family line from Maine. In my family papers a marriage of Virginia Richmond Gittings to my great-grandfather, Chas Greely(ley)occured shortly after his first wife died giving birth to my grandmother in 1881. Chas was the supt of the US Reform School (for boys) in Washington DC and Virginia was a wealthy college educated principal of another high school in DC. Family stories have her related to Long Green Plantation near Baltimore and her grandfather as part of the family who owned it orignally. From your site, it looks like her mother married into the family but Virginia was not blood related.
My great-grandfather's family disowned him because he married a "southerner who was dark" She claimed French heritage. They took the trail to Washington state near Ridgefield, WA and stayed for 2 generations. If anyone is looking for a "lost" Gitting trail, I may have it. My grandmother had an older brother, also named Chas, and her 1/2 brother, Charlie, born later in WA to Virginia. So there are relative still from her. |

| Comments: | I descend from this line: Thomas, William, Isham, Benjamin, Jeremiah Jessee, Columbus Ferdinand, Nola. I am her grandaughter. Nola Treadaway married Floyd Smith - they had three children Janette (Married Bob Presley & had a daughter Janet), Bobby Gene Smith (my Father who married Betty Raye Wright) and Jerry the youngest. All three Children have passed away as has Nola & Floyd. My Mamaw Nola was the most amazing woman I have ever known, when she died it was very difficult for me - I have pictures and stories of this family - would also love to hear from anyone else who is researching this branch.
