I was wondering if you have a marriage certificate for James Mallory Trickey and Parmelia Hogeboom or any other document source for them; he sister is my 3rd greatgrandmother - I am searching for a document that will prove that they are sisters, and, the daughters of Catherine Hogeboom Carns, and Jacob Carnes. Comments:Mary Jane Trickey d/o Joseph Trickey and Jane Buck was
born c.1834. She married Charles Munro (1830-?) on
June 1, 1851 in Clarke Township, Durham Cty, Ontario.
Charles vanished in the 1860's and is thought to have
perished in the Western U.S. Charles and Mary Jane had
two children: Iola Munro (1856-19?) and Bruce Weston
Munro (1859-1900). Bruce never married but lived with
his mother until they caught the flu and perished within
a day of one another. Iola married Frederick Going (1854-
1899), a noted shakepearean reader, and had one child, Iola
Frederica Going (1890-1959). Frederica, as she was known,
never married and is the end of this lineage. She was an
actress and performed on broadway over a span of over fifty
years. Her obituary appeared in the NY Times. Hope some of
this is of interest to you.

She died in 1875 according to a transcription in the Warren Cem Robert St Croix Co WI...as he married again the same year to Susan H Bell, it's doubtful he squeezed in another bride.
The transcriptions spell the name Trickery.
Obviously the transcription for Frederick Lee is totally wrong as he was born in 1853.

NEWS ITEM
S.W. Trickey, an old and well known resident of the city, died at his home on Seventh avenue West this morning. The deceased was 86 years of age. The funeral will probably be held Saturday afternoon but definite announcement will be made later. There must have been a stop or two for Sylvester before he got to Montana, because his son (Silas Shipman) and his daughter Mercy (now Mercy Sloan) ended up in Alvarado, Minnesota.

I have cousins and a sister that have kept pretty good track. Of course my Father and Mother are a great wealth of knowledge and I find myself calling them occasionally for an update on who's who! I believe we are from the Canadian and Scottish Trickeys according to the cousins and sister. I have been all over the US and it never has failed to amaze me that in most large towns I have visited, I have found some Trickeys. From Lawyers to lady rodeo riders (Lorena Trickey). My Mothers' side of the family brought in the Codys and yes, Buffalo Bill is one of her cousins, however many times removed. I'll check back from time to time. Good Luck. Greg

I found your Trickey tree very interesting. I think we corresponded before, and I'm still searching for the ancestors of Nicholas Trickey (Cynthia Elizabeth Warren (wife),children John W., Ida May, Della Maude, and Frances). I found his grave last weekend in Harrowsmith, Ontario (just 20 miles north of Kingston). He is also shown with his family in the 1879 federal census for Theresa, N.Y., which makes me think there must be some connection to your line. The two older girls were also born in Watertown and Theresa. I believe Nicholas was born around 1840 (and not 1822 as earlier indicated). He was 51 when he died in 1891. If you come across anything that might be relevant, please let me know. Thanks

My father was Keith Kenyon Trickey, born in Santa Ana, CA to my grandfather, Frank Stover Trickey, who I believe was from Kansas (during the late 1800's). He was married to my paternal grandmother, Ethel. Frank had a brother, Mel Trickey, and they were in business together in and around Costa Mesa, CA, from the early 1900's to early 1960's (real estate). My father had a sister named Phyllis who had several children but I can only remember one, Bob. I've lost all contact with the Trickey side of my family due to my father's early death in 1946. Living in Arizona now. Thanks, it felt good to remember all that.

I am interested in finding a John Trickey who supposedly sired his first son Edward in Montreal June 2, 1864 (one record states 1861). His wife was DellaMaud, Delemaud ? and she was supposed to be from the Trois Rivieres area. I can't find any info, but your Joseph might be the link. what can you tell me of him? If he were born 1809 and married 1835, or so, he could have sired John Henry around 1840. (Thus allowing John Henry to marry around 1860-63 and sire Edward around 1864 and John Henry Trickey II around 1869....... Any data would be helpful

At crafts fair (old books and maps) in Oxfordshire found that we all come from the (now extinct?) village in the marshes of Devon , called Trickey. The name Trickey is aparantly either from the French ( Devon is across the water from France) word denoting rascally rapscalion type of person, or, from the Norwegian ( the Vikings were know to have been very active in this area) denoting true and faithful friend.

Personally, I believe we are Vikings....

Trickey, Son of Charles Bugbee Trickey, who is son of Peter Trickey, Christopher Trickey's son. Which makes me the Great, Great, Great, Great Granddaughter of Christopher Trickey.

Wow...can't believe I got through that!

Anyway, I have a very detailed list of the Descendants of Christopher Trickey that I would be happy to share with you. It has a few more names and dates than you have and could help fill in some of the holes.

Regards,

Pam Mortensen

Comments:My name is Karen, and I have been working on researching the
TRICKEY name in England. This is not my line, but it is a
line connected to relatives that I visited in Sept 2000,
while in Somerset. I have it back as far as Abel TRICKEY
and Betty MOORE who married in 1824 at Churchstanton, Devon.
There are quite a few TRICKEYs mentioned in parish registers
and census of Devon, and some in Somerset. Whenever
researching census in this area, I always copy any TRICKEYs
that I come across. If I might be of any help, please ask.
Unfortunately I have not been able to find a baptism for
Abel around 1800, but I am fairly sure that he came from
somewhere around the Churchstanton, Devon area.

Comments:My maternal grandfather was Joseph James Trickey (1858 -
1932). His parents were John Trickey and Huldah Jane
Burley, and in 1860 they were in Haldimand Twp.,
Northumberland Co.,ON. I'm quite certain that the older
Jos. Miller Trickey was my g-f's uncle, but the conclusion
that John Trickey and Mary Ann Miller were his grandparents
is conjectural. I have been in touch with Martin Mazurk
also, though not recently. Best regards, Mary

Comments:I visited your site. Congratulations on doing a great job
tracking down the Trickey family name. My grandfather was
Norris J. married to Jennie Eliza. My great grandfather was
Charles Bugbee Trickey. On the female side, Jennie is my
great grandmother, William S. is GGF and Christopher is
GGGF. According to the documents we must be shirt tail
relatives.

I have a picture of Roxanna McDonald given to me by one of
my cousins. If you want a copy of it let me know.

Martin and Jean and my wife and I get together here in
Florida when they come down from Illinois. What would you
think of all of us meeting somewhere convenient for
everyone?

Comments:Just traced family back to Sylvester, son of Peter, son of
Christopher. Would like to know if you have any more info
on The children of Peter or further info on Christopher. Do
you have his number from the Rev. War. Or perhaps you could
give me some more links to other Trickeys that might help.
Sylvester had at least three sons and one daughter. One
son, Silas S., had two sons and one daughter. The oldest
son was Wm. F., who was in Minnesota, and had one child, a
son. This was Silas Wm. who had two sons and one daughter.
The oldest son is my husband, Greg. I need more info on
Sylvester, Peter, Christopher and back. Anything would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.
