| Comments: | I am at a loss.I didnt see any of the names of my four fathers. I did see the same county and states all my know living realitives live in now. I'm son of Ervin MacDonald Worley. But some how he became Mack Ervin Worley Sr. His farther was Mitchel Garfield Worley or maybe Leadford or Leadfoot.I have been told that my dad was born in Cook Co. Tn. But no one has any records of that.My grandfather had 23 childern and some are still living in Hickory NC area. Its a wierd deal, I'm almost fifty years old and most likely when my dad passes that side of the family will be totaly lost. I have giving some thought and tried to talk to the family in Hickory NC.and they have no clue to even who there granddad and mom are. So i almost feel its of no use.So if you know any of these people it would be nice to here from you. Thank you for your time. |

| Comments: | Thanks to Randall Scott Treadway for such thorough research! An example for all of us. Citatations in many paragraphs may be immensely helpful.
Your Worleys were in Va. very early, and moved later down into the eastern ranges of the mountains into present-day N. C. I understand that mine came also from Va., but mine moved down the Western valleys into upper East Tennessee, then on out of the mountains into the foothills in Middle Tennessee. Am interested in information on forebears and descendants of pioneer settler Finch Worley, of southwestern Va. in the 1790, 1800, maybe 1810 censuses who (or son Finch if any) was listed in White Co., Tennessee census in 1820 & 1830, maybe 1810, not after 1840 - based on my (fading?) memory of research in census extract books in the Tennessee State Library & Archives (TSL&A), years ago. (Am a Life member of Tennesse Historical Society.) My GGF was b. 1831 Warren Co., Tenn., then bordering White Co. to the West & Southwest. He enlisted in 1861 in the Infantry, 16th Tenn., from DeKalb Co. and served honorably through the end of the War, as evidenced in his application for state pension (approved). He was injured twice, once in the great battle of Pittsburg Landing and again in probably the Atlanta campaign or aftermath of that. At the end of the War, he was recovering in hospital in Augusta, Ga., and had to make his way home on foot to Smithville in Middle Tennessee. His wounds, treated with the methods of that day, never healed properly, and they partly disabled him throughout his life, but when he retired from active business, he was appointed the DeKalb Co. Register of Deeds and Wills by action of the County Court. He served continuously for nine (9) to ten (10) years in that office until his final illness in approx. 1893. It was said that his selection for that office was due partly to the fine quality of his handwriting. Warren Co. in 1831 was much bigger than now, and included a large part of DeKalb Co., erected 1837, which since then borders Warren on the new northern side of Warren Co. Warren in 1831 might have included the site of the current seat of DeKalb Co., Smithville, est. ca. 1845, where my GGF reared his family of four sons and three daughters, and operated his business as a mechanical engineer and a mechanical equipment manufacturer and retailer. His descendants have included engineers, and I am a licensed professional engineer in Texas. Other notes on other Worleys in Tennessee that I have found - There was a Samuel Worley plantation in perhaps as early as the 1830s in southeastern Maury Co., two or three counties W of Warren Co. A John Worley was the first Sheriff of Sullivan Co., I believe it was, an old early-days (1803?) county in East Tennessee bordering SW Va. There was a David H. Worley owning land in the 1850s or 1860s in Wilson Co. that has its SE corner touching the northwest corner of DeKalb. An Obie (sp?) Worley was said later after the War to have built or owned and operated a mill in Rutherford Co., the co. imm. W of DeKalb; but I have insufficient information to indicate that these names are connected to my own GGF. There was a Charley Whorley, a girl in high school in Davidson Co. in the 1945-1949 timeframe, but it is not known by me, whether the spelling with the 'h' inserted is a variant spelling and connected with our surname. This is a mildly interesting question. Ours is known to have come as-is from England in the early-mid-1600s to Va.and to Long Island (New York Colony), and from England to Pa. ca. 1680, as Francis Worley and his brother, whose name escapes me at this 1:45 a.m., were reported to have been brought to Penn's Colony by their redoubtable step-father Caleb(?) Pusey, who married their widowed mother in County Essex and later relocated his blended family to the New World. Please post all this information for others to review. Comments are invited. Any information on family connections of Finch Worley will be received with appreciation and acknowledgment. |

| Comments: | I came across another Worley site that lists the following incorrect information: Cecil E. Worley 1913-1924 male; father - Oliver P. Worley, mother - Addie Loueva Groves. ... Wrong
Cecil Elizabeth Worley 1913 - 1924 was a beautiful little girl, the daughter of Nathan Asa Worley and Cora Anna Groves. Nathan was Oliver Peter Worley's brother and Cora was Addie Loueva Groves' sister. The families lived on adjoining farms. Ol and Addie Worley were my grandparents. THEIR daughter who passed away at a young age was named Isabelle. Cecil was Isabelle's FEMALE double cousin. Cecil was a common female name at that time. Feel free to write me for further information on this line. |

Wiley had brothers Silas, Pleasant, John Jr., and others. Wiley and Dorcas's third child, Isaac Worley 1804 N.C. was my 4 Ggpa. He married Elizabeth Walker in Wayne Co. KY. Isaac had 16 children. They had my 3 Ggpa, Christopher Columbus (Bud) Worley 1855. Bud married Martha A. Bryant and had my grandpa, Elisha Worley 1879. This family is on the 1880 census of Wayne Co. Big Sinking Dist. 6. C.C. Worley farmer, KY KY KY, wife Mrs. Martha A., Florence, F, single age 2, and Elisha M, single age 1. Gpa had dad, Gart Worley 1907, and the rest is history (I mean genealogy) Wanda Worley Jordan |

Worley, and he was one of 10 children, which I can't remember all their names, they're all in the Bremerton or Spokane area for the most part now. His father (my great grandfather) was H.K. Worley (a true mountain man). All I really know is that the family originated back east somewhere. Anything you find out I'd love to know myself, keep me posted!
