Back in 84-85 I lived on the streets in Hollywood. I was told that I could've been in a movie with an actress by the name of Dianne Keaton. I did not know who you were so they gave me the run down. I was told to meet you at some building at such and such time. So I went. I approached you and asked if you were Dianne Keaton. I will never forget your face. You were so serious with me it scared me. Infact you asked if I was 18 and had an address. I was a rebellious kid with a Mohawk but I couldn't lie to you. It was like your eyes pierced right through me. One I knew I could not be in your movie, I asked if I could have your hat pin. You boldy said "NO". I tried to tell you that I was not like other people and that I will appreciate the pin to remember you. I'll never foget how you never budged no matter how I begged. Finally I quit and walked away. Guess what? I didn't need your pin to remember you! When I tell my kids about how Dianne told me "No" they laugh. No's are good! | Comments: | Diane is one person I will never forget. Her grandmother lived down the street from me in a little town called Quapaw Oklahoma. When Diane would come to town I always seemed to visit with her. I was a small boy then. I didn't realize until years later who she actually was.
I can still remember her pushing me on a tire swing that hung from a tree in her grandmothers yard. Also, for one Christmas, she gave ne a Cox Dune Buggy. To this day I still think about that day and what wonderful memories I still hold of it. One day I hope to see Diane again and thank her. She is truly a wonderful person and may God always bless her. | Comments: | I have loved and admired all your movies, especially "Something's got to Give". I don't understand how "Because I said so" came out so wrong. You're character got so irritating I couldn't watch it. But I will give it another shot maybe I was too strung out on hot flashes. The movie can't be as bad as it seemed or you would not have been in it.
I remember stuggling through whiney Woody Allen movies and then I caught "Match Point" and "Scoop" he probably made them at the same time. When I consider all that's involved in making movies, the editing is crucial to the rythym. There are movies that I watch and listen to as other people would listen to music. I see you playing a Grand Dame in the 20's, colorful in control with a real sharp, cutting wit. |

| Comments: | Hi again! I just HAVE to tell you this. You may not have heard (yet) of the crazy Swedish novelist who have written a novel about Ingmar Bergman. Did I say crazy? Heīs a lunatic! (though rather famous in Sweden - otherwise noone would have cared about this "novel".) He calls his novel "The Director" and itīs all about Bergman and his shooting one of his famous films - AND about his sex life with his wife at that time, the pianist Käbi Laretei. (pubertal phantasises, nothing more). I happen to know her and she said they were very upset and thought about suiing (how do you spell it?)him. But they found that it is LEGAL to write down complete phanatises about living persons, calling it a novel! (Ingmar was so mad that he wanted to go straight up to the author and shoot him! But he is a civilized person. He didnīt do it. Just went around his place grinding his teeth, sleepless for several nights.)
I told you this so you will know when the book appears in English (I am certain it will. Someone even talked about filming it!) There was quite a hullaballoo about this in Swedish media. The author Alexander Ahndoril and Bergman were there whenever you put on the TV or read the newspaper,the former defending himself and the latter becoming more and more like "O.K. I give up!" Bergman even said he FELT SORRY about this author! (I suppose at 88 you have reached some higher wisdom - if youīre lucky. And Käbi ended up laughing at the whole thing!) Love, Inga SWEDEN. |

| Comments: | Hi! I heard today (saw it on the TV) that Diane won the Film Award of the Lincoln Center. I had never heard of this special award. Is it big? Anyway, Diane, if you read this (perhaps you donīt - I donīt know if you have any connection to this web site): congratulations! I discovered you much too late - only 2 years ago when I saw Somethingīs Gotta Give. The best love film Iīve ever seen! And so sexy! (normally a love film with people over 5o or over 6o would only be holding hands or some very decent kisses). You were absolutely wonderfully crazy, funny and beautiful! (actually you remind me a bit of me. Iīm crazy and funny too.)
