Comments:Great site. Brings back some memories. I joined the Ark early '58 when I was sixteen. It was my first ship. It had just returned from Australia (where I understand they lost a number of the ships company) and was on it's way to New York. I did two stints on it. About 2 years in all. I was a stoker and worked with some great guys.
G'day from Austalia shipmates.

Comments:Hi there good to see a web site dedicated to those that have served and the good ship H.M.S Ark Royal herself. I remember when I was 16 yrs old and my dad and I watched a special on the ABC in Melbourne Australia on the Ark Royal prior to her decommissioning. I was lucky enough to have purchased the record made by the Ships company back then. I have not been able to locate the record and was wondering if any could help me obtain a copy. My father was a QMG onboard HMAS Canberra when she was sunk and survived, he was later transferred to the Shropshire which replaced the Canberra and served out the rest of the War aboard the Shropshire. If someone could point me in the right direction to obtan the a copy of the songs by the Ships Crew of the Ark Royal it would be greatly appreciated and since my fathers passing would certainly bring back some onderful memories.

Thank you

Kind Regards

Ray Mitchell
