| Comments: | JoAnne has truly made a miracle happen for me in my life. I had heard about how long it usually takes to locate a birth parent, and knew that the process often took lots of money and several years, and sometimes still resulted in nothing. So, I registered at the adoption database without much hope at all, thinking that maybe I would hear something back twenty years down the line or possibly never. To my amazement, I received a phone call from JoAnne just 5 days after I registered! I couldn't believe it! She told me that she had found my birth mother and that she was happy and wanted to talk to me. I feel very blessed to be able to get to know the wonderful woman who gave me life and also had the courage to do what she knew was right. I have always thought of her as a very selfless, caring person, and she really is! I learned that she has moved on with her life, made great decisions, and had a family. We had a great conversation over the phone, and discovered that we have a lot in common and similar personalities. Knowing the circumstances of my birth and the woman who gave life to me doesn't change who I am as a person, but it feels very good to know truths that have been a mystery to me for my entire life. | Comments: | THIS IS IT!!!!!........................After close to 28 years, I have finally FOUND the woman responsible for bringing me in this world. IT'S A MATCH!
On Monday January 12th, I received copies of the senior class of on of many, many schools that I had contacted for information. Out of a cloass of 700 people, my sister and roommate picked out the picture of one woman who looked so much like me. After waiting an entire week patiently, on Friday I received a contact number for a woman who I thought may be my mom. I called the number and spoke to who would be my grandmother who in turn gave me the number to reach Debra. Little did I realize what was in store for me!!! This woman asked me why I wanted her daughter's number and so I explained to her that I was looking for someone from the graduating class of this school....and she gave me the number. (she would later call my mom and ask if someone called her about a class reunion...........my mom said "Yes, a reunion but not that one!) Yesterday at 5 PM, I spoke to my Bmom for the first time in my life. (I'm shaking as I type with complete bliss!) Her name is Debra and sha has been waiting for me to call for the past two years. She is everything that my heart has believed she would be. She asked me to give her a call back so she could talk to her husband, I waited for three hours to call back to get the answers I've been asking for what seems like a lifetime. She explained the circumstances of my birth and told me my bdads name. Unfortunately, she doesn't have contact with him. She's married and very happy. Her husband is wonderful and encourages us to build a relationship! She asked me to email pictures today and I plan on getting right to it but I had to share with this group.family that has supported and made my find possible!!! Everyone in this group has endured some adversity......some harsher than others but in the end and in the process, God never gives us more than we can handle. He knows each of our hearts desires. He's been there for me when I cried for my bmom, blessed me with a loving adoptive family, and carried me through the times that I just wanted to give up because the odds were completely against me. Nonetheless, in His time, He has answered my prayers and bless me in the ways that I've dreamed of. With all of this said, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has continued to answer my questions, look up numbers, give advice, share similiar stories, and encouraged me not to give up. I thank you with all that I am, and am here now to share my story and help the people who will encounter what I have and search just like I have. Please know that I will share your experiences and help in any way that I can. TO JO ANNE................Thanks for being you. For your devotion and strength to do what you have with this group. How do I say thank you to you ? It's a question I've been going over and over in my head. What you've done for my family is something you'll never ever know just how much it means to us. The missing piece to our puzzle is now found, and it's complete again as it should have been always. In a matter of minutes you did what I'd been trying to do for years, and I do mean years. We don't have legal proof that Jon is our Jon, but we dont need that. To many things are present for us to not believe he is our Jon-Jon. I am happy to tell you he has talked to his birth-mom and holds no animosity towards her, and believes firmly that things happen for a reason, and are meant to be the way they are and were. My identity was removed and I was placed in foster care 4/22/55, and then placed for adoption 7/55 and the adoption was finalized 9/56. My adoptive name was Paula Kim Fiedler.
All that I know about my identity has been learned only in the last 2 years. I am committed to work with state and federal representatives towards opening closed adoption records to those who wish their real identity...how is it legal to steal your identity? I spend my days searching the registries on the internet and communicating/helping others in their search on JoAnne's Adoption Database. It is a lonely, heartwrenching process punctuated by sheer happiness for those who find each other and, in this site family, perpetually surrounded by the love for all of "us" in the triad.
