Since then I have looked for my biological family. Last year I was able to get my original birth certificate unsealed by the state of Illinois after the bill was passed and a copy of my adoption records. I know my fathers name is Norman Cecil Rhodes(deceased)and that I have a brother which I have met, the Rhodes family has welcomed me with open arms. According to my birth certificate my mother's name is Freda Mae Foley she was from Carpenter Ohio she was 31 yrs old when I was born. I was the 2nd child for her, she lived in Chicago at the time of my birth. After I was adopted she moved back to Ohio. I can't find a trace of her anywhere. Everywhere I look I come to a dead end. Using my birth certificate I was able to located my dad's family within a couple of hours. My mother I was not so lucky. If anyone knows of a Freda Mae Foley that may have returned to Ohio in the fall of 1949 I would love to have information on her. I know I have a sibling and would like to have some type of contact to learn about my mother. |

She some how found her natural mother in the mid to late 80's. Her natural mother's name was Gerldine Pollard. She was living in Boston area when we found her. My mother kept in touch with some of her half sisters for a little while. My mother's natural mother could not remember who her father was. My mother continued to haunt the family trying to get the name of the father. Her natural mother grew up in Gray Maine so we met some of her brothers and sisters. No one knew the father. Her natural mother worked for New England Telephone when she became pregant with my mother. Her natural mother did tell her she had TWINS two years later that were given up for adoption. The TWINS might have been adopted by a Doctor in Portland. Of course we are unsure if they know if they are adopted. We are interested in getting in touch with them. My mother has had some tough issues with being adopted. Although my mother had wonderful adoptive parents and was an only child so she got extra special attention. She became an excellent nurse, someone you would feel safe with and know you were well being taken care of. She got married and had three children. She has been trying so hard to find out who her natural father is and has had no luck. Hoping maybe the twins could give us some info and compare notes on health issues. | Comments: | I was born early. I was due in March 1970, and I weighed 2 lbs and 6 ounces. I was a ward of the state of Georgia. I am half white and half black. My mother was white and my father was black. I have only been told bits and pieces about my birth parents. It may be true that my birth mother was married to a white man that was in the military. And that my birth father would come to the Welfare Office to spend time with me while I was between foster homes. I was in my third foster home, with the Perry's. A family that already had taken in 20 foster children . I came to their home on the 16th of April, 1970. The people at the State of Georgia Welfare Office/ Foster Cared, asked Mr. Perry if they could keep me for a couple of days until they found another foster home for me. I never left that house/family again. I was their 21st foster child. I am now 42 years old and I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed December 15, 2009. I would like to have an idea as what kinds of illness' that are in my family history. I have been told that my birth grandmother had sugar diabetes. I want more than anything to find my birth mother and birth father. I honestly believe in my heart that they are looking for me as well. At least I pray that they are. I am wondering if the state of Georgia has an original birth certificate with their names on it. I am hoping that you will be able to help me, or steer me in the right direction. Thank you!!

In my files it says J was my father & that my mother had an affair with this man while staying with them after being discharged from Willow lane SChool for girls where she had my sibling in Aug of 1972. My father J was a deisel mechanic. I believe they lived around Swansea, Sc at the time. The Childrens Bureau of Columbia was involved in my case & she was placed in the Florence Crittenton home in Charlotte, Nc while pregnant with me since her mother wouldn't let her come home. I saw in the case files she wanted to keep me & tried but due to her being young she had no where to live & no way to take care of me.
