A disappointing loss but well done to June and John for taking two of the rubbers to three ends - better luck at our venue. I also twisted my knee on their floor !

A frustrating match for us. The result doesn't reflect the match at all, with five of the rubbers going to three ends. All the games were closely contested but in the end the more experienced opposition players took control.
Better luck next time folks.

Another decisive win with some hard fought rubbers, particularly against their 1st and 2nd pairings. Malc/Simon and Andy/Vic recorded a maximum, with Phil/Kelly just being edged out of their final rubber by the opposing 1st pair.
Well done guys.
Also WELL DONE to Ladies 3 who shared courts with us and battled to a 4-2 win.

(and Will playing on his 60th birthday!! thats commitment - HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILL).Bad luck for Josh and Janet who couldn't quite pinch the second game against the first pair despite setting.

Mens 3's winning run (of one) was brought to an abrupt halt at the home of plastic-mongers AT7. We didn't manage to salvage a single rubber on the night, and only twice took them to three.
They are a friendly and sporting team to play, however, and we are all looking forward to the return match at Barkers, when we will humiliate them.

An unexpectedly close match. BC turned up with 4 good young players from Warwick University. Their 1st pair won all three of their rubbers, though Andy/Vic took them to three ends. Phil/Kelly and Andy/Vic picked up two rubbers each with Josh/Malc clinching the vital rubber to give us the win.
Well done to Josh in his first Mens 2 match.

Always disappointing to lose 5-4. We all lost to the third pair who seemed to be the strongest, hopefully we will beat them at home.

Despite Ash Green's recent and welcome adoption of feather shuttles, the Barkers team didn't fare too well against a strong opposition in Bedworth last night. But it would have been worse with yellow plastics!
Looking forward to the home fixture.

Sam picked up an early injury in the first game & was unable to continue(hope she recovers quickly).
The team then had to win 5 out of the remaining 6 rubbers. Both pairs went on needing to win the last 2 rubbers with the score at 4-3 to Central. Well Done to Debbie & Carl who battled to win their final game & then Jerry(super sub) pulled out a brilliant performance to win the match with Sharon.
A good team win.

A convincing win for our first "proper" match, with all three pairs scoring a maximum (only 88 points scored in total by the opposition). Thanks to John for filling in with Kelly.
Also a very pleasant surprise to find that Ash Green have finally changed to feathers.

A tough day at the office for Mens 1 at home last night against Esporta 2's. A late withdrawal by Jerry due to a wrist injury opened the door for Phil to showcase his talents. Esporta provided a very strong 3rd pair who managed to take all three from us and unfortunately Martyn & Phil, although extremely close, didn't manage to get anything from their two. Mark & Carl and Paul & Rod took two each meaning a losing 4-5 score. Disappointment was clear to see and I think the team felt we could have sneaked it. Oh well, there's still the return leg at their place.

A good start to what we believe is going to be a highly competitive season for Men's 1 at Regent 2 on Friday 26th. Vic very kindly stepped in and covered for Rod and with Martyn made a good pair. Regent 2 only managed to provide 2 pairs so our night was made slightly easier. We all struggled against their 1st pair with all three pairs losing. However, everyone clearly wanted to win the match so their 2nd pair were dealt with varying degrees of ease. Most important for us was the win, it gives us a great springboard and hopefully some confidence. Roll on Monday 6th October and our visitors Esporta 2. Match to be played in the pressure-cooker of BBBC.
