| Comments: | Dear Mark, while you are working on the John Layne genealogy, I would like for you to correct a mistake that is rampant in the John and Esther Kilgore Layne family. I think the error came originally from the Lain, Lane, Layne book, but it needs to be corrected for future usage. John and Esther's first born son was Abraham K. Layne born ca. 1830 not 1835. All records except mine say that this Abraham married Celia Pickett, but he did not. Celia's husband Abraham was the son of Daniel and Anna Bryant Layne. John and Esther's son Abraham married Elender Tennessee Kilgore before 1850 in Marion County, but in 1860 they were living in what became known as Layne's Cove. Together they had eighteen children, but only three survived to marry and procreate--Madison Monroe, Simeon Glover, and Daniel. Monroe (my g-grandfather) died in 1911, Daniel died between 1910-1920 and Sim died in 1932. By having this error accepted, my little line of folks is left out. Thanks for considering this. I'm one of your distant "cuzs" no doubt since my dad was a Layne, my mom was a Meeks and one of my g-grandmothers was a Cox. jackie layne partin |

Laura is the grandchild of John & Katie, only child of Kenneth Franklin (Bill) Meeks and Patricia Poole and Christie is the only child of Laura Kathryn (Meeks) Gorsuch and James D Gorsuch.
