| Comments: | This is a great web site. I am the editor of The Pathfinder, the quarterly publication of the Grundy County Historical Society, in Tracy City.
Elijah Keyes Meeks married 1st. Sarah Francis Isabella Griswold, the daughter of Stephen M. Griswold and Sarah Purdom. Sarah Francis Isabella was born 28 Oct. 1845 and died 2 Jan. 1871 and is buried at the Altamont Cemetery. They had four children: John Meeks, born Fed 1866; Stephen Munson"Muncy" Meeks, born 22 Dec. 1868; France Meeks, born ca. Dec 1870 or Jan. 1871 and the child that is buried in the small cemetery (unidentified) was Nancy E. Meeks, born Jan. 1871 and died Jan. 1871. I hope this will fill in some of the gaps for you on your Meeks line. If I can be of further help to you just let me know. Mona |

| Comments: | Whoa! I am blown away by all the Tracy City images! My Grandmother was from Tracy City and knew many of the Meeks and Morans. Her name was Sarah Louise (Hampton) Fawcett. Her Dad (Ed Hampton) worked for the railroad and her Mom (Lula Hampton) was one of the founding members of the Lady's Memorial Association with her Mother Mary Barnett. I am still in touch with many of the Barnett Family. Your ancestors knew them well. The Children of James and Mary Barnett were: Mary Ann (Mayme) Barnett, George, Scott, Jack, Dave, Ida (Barnett) McCormack, Lula (Barnett) Hampton, Charlie and William. Almost all of the boys were involved with the railroad as well as the coal mines. I also knew the Baggenstoss's as well as the Bonholzer's ( I spoke with Mary Elizabeth Baggenstoss up until her passing ). James Barnett was written about in the Grundy County Herald 1976 special edition, he was the "Yankee returns to Tracy City". I'd love to hear from you in regards to sharing some Tracy City History stuff.

Did not know how the Bensheimer part tied in. I also used to live in Greenwood. I lived at the corner of Madison {431} and N.Forrest Park Dr. My parents moved there in 1953, untill 1972, when they sold the place to someone, who sold it to the Vet that is there now. We watched 431 being 4 laned and the building of the Greenwood Mall in the 60's. My Dad grew up in Franklin and Trafalgar, his fathers name was Phillip Amos Bensheimer...died in 74'.
