| My name is Michele Turner, a former TWA New York employee. Carol Treutlein (also a former TWA New York employee) and myself are chairing an Annual "Women of TWA" Luncheon in Manhattan, New York on October 3, 2009. We are trying to get the word out to more former TWA women. Therefore, we are networking with many groups who reach these women. If you could be so kind to put a notice of our luncheon in your bulletin or newspaper (just a line or two) to help us reach others who aren't aware of our luncheon. Many of the ladies who attend our luncheon are seniors and belong to different senior groups throughout the U.S.A. There is no membership, the women can live anywhere, but must be former TWA employees. We are women who felt the need to get together once a year when TWA "closed". If you have any questions, please feel free to email either myself or Carol at: micheleturnerny@optonline.net or ctreutlein@aol.com. Thank you for your time and consideration. Michele Turner |

He started at Hanover Airlines, which became Northwest, then went to Transcontinental Western and Air, worked in ICD, and became Foreman in Charge of Maintenance in Kansas City. If anyone has any stories about him that they could share, it would be greatly appreciated. |

| I saw this website, and thought I'd pass on this information to the folks at TWA. I'm employed by Delta, but my father worked for TWA 45 years before his retirement in the early 80's. Ulrike (Uli) Derickson, the Delta flight attendant who was honored for saving passengers' lives in 1985 during the TWA hijacking, died Feb. 18 in her home in Tucson, Ariz. Derickson, 60, had been a Delta flight attendant since 1992. Her courage was instrumental in saving the lives of dozens of hostages. "While we mourn the loss of any employee at Delta, Uli will forever hold a special place in many of our hearts, she will be forever missed," said Paulette Corbin, s.v.p., In-Flight Service. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family." Derickson became the first woman to receive the Silver Cross for Valor, awarded by the Legion of Valor, a veterans organization. "The Taking of Flight 847: The Uli Derickson Story," a 1988 movie that appeared on NBC and featured Lindsay Wagner as Derickson, received five Emmy nominations. |

| Great sight. I have a request that might be kind of difficult. My wife, who was adopted as an infant, just found out her biological father was a TWA Captain. He died in 1976 in an auto accident driving home from JFK, so she has no idea what he looked like. If anyone has any info on him, it would be greatly appreciated. His name was William Snyder. He flew in Korea (I'd assume F-86) and was hired as a Captain on the "Connie" in 1953. I believe he later flew the 707 and 747. Thanks |

//Elaine Hi Carol. My sister asked me to look up TWA's "You Need to Know".. "In Memory Of" as she wants to keep track of her old flying partners and see who may have passed on. My sister, Barbara McLaughlin-Swasay, retired for many years ago. She does not get on-line and so asks me to research for her. She still wants to connect. She gave me a web site to look for the "In Memory Of" but site does not appear. Your suggestions are most welcome. Your site is wonderful and I can even remember much of what you have on your site. Nice job! |

| I truly enjoyed my 7 years with TWA. I was the most junior guy in what I am pretty sure was the very last L1011 FE class for newhires. My little piece of history? And as an aside I was fortunate to fly F/O for Nick Colyvas who is signed in just below me. I don't know what the early Captain's at TWA were like but guys and gals like Nick continued a fine tradition. It was a true pleasure to work with you all. Thanks for the memories. |

| I was TWA for only a short 13 years, but i had a great carrer and loved every min of it. I staarted in aug 88 as a L10 F/E then moved onto the 727 and 767 as an F/O and finnally a capt. on the 80 and 717 for my last 4 years with TWA. I was never so proud as I was when I earned my capt wings. TWA meant the world to me. Now I am one of the few that got picked up by aa but my best years are behind me now. I will always miss all my good friends and great times at the best job I ever had! Keep in touch please!! Nick |

| As a kid growing up in LAX I used to ride my bike out to the airport to watch the big planes land and to see all of the activity on the airport. little did I know that some years later I would start my career in the airlines. Of all of the airlines that operated in those days ,TWA was the was the crown jewel. To get a job with an airline was quite a feather in your cap, but to work for TWA was the cats meow. The excitement of working in a world where far away places like Rome,Paris,London, etc. were common place to us. Other people could only dream of places that we went to every day. It was magic to board a plane in LAX and in just a few hours be on the other side of the world, and do it in a style that only TWA could give you. I joined TWA in 1963 as a fleet service helper and after a time in the Navy, I returned to work and became an aircraft mechanic. a profession I have enjoyed for 41yrs. but now with AA in MCI. I spent some time in Pheonix also. The people of TWA were and are the best. American has no concept of what they destroyed when they closed TWA as a company. The history and memories will live on as long as one of us is still alive and beyond. TWA was the most exciting thing to ever happen to me, and I am greatful for everyday I worked for it. American is a great company,---TWA was a great family. 'UP,UP and away' plays in my mind everyday still. Through the good times and the bad, we were and will remain TWA!!!! |

| We were a TWA family. My husband, Richard, was a pilot from 1956-1987, I was a hostess 1958-1859 and our son Mark was a TWA pilot at the time of the buy-out. How sad to see a wonderful company disappear. |
| Saturday, May 29th 2004 - 05:08:47 PM |
| I joined TWA in 1970 at LAX as a hostess just as TWA and Pan Am launched the 747. I was based in New York and my life soon began wearing a wool Dalton uniform on a Hot Summers day at Hangar 12 waiting for a 707 to arrive. The race was on and we were ready to fight for our markets and for our passengers. Air fares were the same. The difference was made in customer service. Every week was a new adventure and a new episode in our lives. There was such a wonderful feeling of camaraderie and family with alot of loyalty thrown into the mix. But it wasn't just with TWA. It was with all of the airlines. It was quite a time...a wonderful exciting time that shall never be replaced in our hearts. You were hired for a job that everyone wanted and you became family and stayed for thirty years. God Bless the family at TWA. You will never forget! Dianna (Shockley) Bennett |

| My father as a pilot for TWA starting back when TWA was Transcontinental Westerern. All my childhood was spend amidst TWA: maps, playing cards, flight bags, photos, flight manuals, trips on Connies, 880's, L1011's and 747's (sometimes with Dad as Captain on the 880s), crew bus to the hanger, excursions to ALPA HQ and endless stories partly because TWA PMA was in our basement. Almost every family friend was TWA. It made a big impact upon me as a kid and I still remember the wonderful things that came to me because my Dad worked for TWA. |

//Marty Karna Diller Nothing will fade the glitter of the treasured years that I flew for TWA! In 1968, we still wore white gloves, red lipstick, and girdles, and the passengers dressed elegantly. That scene quickly disolved in the '70's, but it was still a great job, fun to travel and to meet so many interesting co-workers and pax. TWA memories burst my heart! |
