Members of this group have been very very helpful.PJM especially. However, i miss Ivan XbR.It's really tragic, and he is sorely missed. I've learned lots through the IRC,and soon will hopefully be able to contribute more. B in Ottawa,Canada

Comments:Hi Folks: Don't know enough yet to make any contribution. I've been in electronics and Ham radio for over 50 years. I've always been engaged in Sats. Having worked AO-40 was a great moment. I hope to make some proposals in the future as I learn mor. Right now I'm using a home built 4 yig downconverter for 2 to 30+ GHZ. The store built equipment is Icom PCR-1000, 1500,2500 driven by many computer programs. Primary program is the Commander IX. Great piece of hardware. Two years ago I wrote an article for "CQ-VHF" on the operation of the SDR-1000. I dropped using the unit because regarless of stablizing efforts the unit drifted faster than I do after a large meal. After 2 years of trying to make it bwork in a 24/7 operation, I gave up. Best and 73, Gerry Rolle, KG6RHE

He mentioned talking to you for maybe an hour on the phone. I also have an SDR14. Pieter is always up to interesting things with the units. Just got our 26m dish online on 2.2 and 8.4 GHz. Still working on pointing corrections and seeing what's up there. Loaded NOVA on our main PC in control room. So once all the options and updates are set I should have a fair way to point the big dish, though not tracking except manually. at 5.5 arcminute beamwidth at 8.4 GHz, its pretty tricky. 73, Charles, K4CSO

Am developing a system of units to cover 2 to 30 GHZ. The current problem has to do with the lack of commerical mixers for 10-30 GHZ. As soon as we solve that problem should be able to make some small contribution to you work. Needless to say I'm open to any sugestions to the mixer problem. The units available seem to be in $280-$300 range (surplus). Thanks and 73 Gerry Rolle, KG6RHE San Jose, CA

I'm in the process of putting up a really neat antenna. Surplus (government) 1.7GHz 16' x 8'. I'm told it's an IFF type like the airports have. Mike
