I have learned a great deal here from the director and my good friend gayla, thank you ladies and the kids especially, it was not a easy job as most people would think it is, you have to have a kind heart and patience as the kids that come through the door are hurting and experiencing a great loss just wondering why they are there. sitting there and getting to know them personally was a very heartful experience for me.i have learned from these kids,as i have taught them things about life. the feeling you get when the kids reconize you on the street and come running giving you a big hug makes a big difference for me. these kids have to develope a friendship with you especially the ones that come through the doors of s.t.c.c, they won't trust an adult because trust comes by hard for these kids that have alcohol involved their lives. alcohol does own our indian people it takes the adults away from the home and in return the kids are the ones who end up hurt, spotted tail crisis center is a very beautiful place with staff whom open up their own lives to these kids and it is a warm place for the kids stay. anyway I hope you all continue to do what you can do for these kids and let them to know there are people out there who still care. well ladies I tip my hat to you and keep up the good work and I want to say thank you for the not so good experiences and the best one's we all experienced together. it was a good learning for me

| Comments: | i'm really glad to read that the Rosebud Sioux Tribe has a crisis center. I have a friend from the Rosebud Reservation,whom my heart goes out to i was in alcohol rehab with this person, i still keep in contact with her, she has told me about her kids that had been removed from her home, and it makes me very proud to see that your tribe has this program so that her kids wont be to far from her as she still fights her alcoholism. sometimes it makes me wish that my tribe had something like this for our children. i will be 29 years old on sunday, and it took me about four or five years to realize what my child ment to me. as a matter a fact i wrote him a poem when i was in alcohol rehab, today i been sober 6 months, i dont know what temptations tomorrow will bring. But when that temptation comes all i do is tell my son to smile and realize alcohol isnt as important than my little boy.
when my son was two or three years old i was angry cause i couldnt have my drink so i threw a night light at my son and gave him a black eye, i left a little dent in him that shows only when he smiles..... i just wanted to share that with you all and maybe it could be read by some of your clients parents. may god bless each and every one of you... |
